Tried to get them to stop padding MLS listings with false info, ended up getting insulted by them instead
I have been searching for oceanfront properties for a while. Unfortunately, there are some people who pad the multiple listings with false information, which causes their listed properties to show up on searches when they should not. This is a very unethical practice and is a violation of the Code of Conduct for the National Association of Realtors, as well as a violation of the rules on the MLS.
I ran into this with Oregon First, with a Depot Bay property in the middle of a neighborhood that they had listed as waterfront (ocean front) on multiple real estate sites.
I tried on numerous times to get them to stop this misleading practice, but they just ignored me. It was not until I posted a critical review on social media that I received a response.
All I wanted was this company to stop entering false information when they listed a property, especially when the data they claimed was a six to seven figure matter. Oceanfront homes are not cheap, and claiming a home was waterfront when it was actually surrounded by road and other houses just means a buyer has to weed through the improper listing to find a real waterfront home.
I give the listing agent credit for finally removing the false data on the MLS, but what happened next was something that shows a total lack of integrity by this agency.
Michelle King, who I am guessing is one of the main brokers, made no apologies and took no responsibility for putting false information on their listing. Instead, she only responded with an insult - including criticizing me for having my profile settings set to private, which is something everyone should do on places like Facebook to protect their data from being used my scammers.
This is how you treat someone who is a cash buyer for a multimillion-dollar property who has tried over and over to get them to stop using false information on their listings, just so they can get more clicks? This lack of professionalism means this is a business to avoid.
