Okay for secondary services

We're a company that develops websites and mobile applications for our clients. We use OVH for 5 years now in secondary capacity: for backups, dev infrastructure and testing. Primary products we use are dedicated servers, and secondary some cloud offerings (eg. object store).

Hardware we use is of high quality, no complaints there, and there's a large variety of hardware properties for different use cases. Very rarely we'd get an email that their automated systems detected a hardware issue, which then gets resolved at announced time. Power is stable, there hasn't been any unexpected reboots, save maybe once in 5 years.

Network is a mixed bag. Mostly it's okay, but often there's huge packet loss between OVH and other providers in EU (where we host our primary capacity), I'm guessing there's a DDoS somewhere and that's the fallout. They have been known to mitigate some of strongest DDoS attacks in internet history. But that is probably why they attract DDoS to begin with, hosting entities that require it.

Once it happened that entire OVH network was inaccessible to all the T-Com Croatia customers, for over 24 hours. Analysis showed 100% packet loss inside their network after DECIX hops. Opened a ticket but got a reply a WEEK later asking for more information. Network is the first reason why we cannot trust OVH for primary production, nor recommend for production.

Unfortunately the support is like that. They answer days later, asking for more information, even though the problem has been resolved, somehow, in the meantime. That's the other reason.

For testing and secondary services (that have redundancy elsewhere), OVH is great. Forget any meaningful support with them, but that aside, automated systems, provisioning and hardware itself is good enough to self-manage.

OVH is always a brand

Well, as a Turkish Hosting Company, i really love OVH . I got 5+ dedicated server . There are few methods to bypass protection but still my customers are happy from their VDS servers. Compared to Hetzner, their biggest advantage is Ip adress costs, you don't have to pay monthly ip prices. Biggest disadvantage is their prices. If you can't catch their discounts , it's kinda expensive for me to purchase because of currency . Still i would reccomend them.

the best thing of them that they deliver your server within 5 minutes, don't blame support on your low-level experience since you're getting unmanaged servers, they offer you a higher support level plans .

It is so bad

It is so bad. Should have read the review before going with them !
Open a ticken and got a first answer from a certain Rahma R. I'm not an IT expert so need assistance but they assume you're an IT savvy so they speak to you in jargon. Ask for clarification once, no answer...then twice no answer...then again no answer...then called them just got..they just hung up !
Don't waste your time with them they just don't care !

RUN, don't walk away!

They promise servers with 120 s delivery time. After 3 days: nothing, even after opening support tickets to cancel. They just ignore the tickets and keep sending bills.

We filed a case with PayPal, they decided in our favor and got us our money back. However, a few days after we got new bills for automatic renewals we never asked for. Created new tickets, which were of course ignored.

NEVER set up automatic payment, you can retract any permissions you gave inside your PayPal account. Do it as soon as possible, because they will try to charge you.

They don't see the customer, they only see money!

ControlPanel that does not work. Insloent support.

ControlPanel that does not work.
Every time something new... This time after upgrading HDD on my VPS, I cannot extend my Linux partition, because Rescue Boot does not work (only option to use that extra paid space): It boots to rescue mode but I can log in neither with my credentials nor with credentials they gave me specifically for that rescue session.
I don't even want to try anything with support.
(I have 3 accounts at ovh.com - and problems with every account)

Started well something's gone badly wrong

I have had good help from the technical support but on the last few occasions it has been pathetic. My Modem/Router has had a problem for over 12 months and I lose internet service whenever it rains. The first I lived with (can't access the admin facility) until the Wifi radios came on and started broadcasting unsolicited traffic. The second I live with because I know the lines belong to Orange who won't fix them. Ornage always visits the house, attic and changes the wiring a bit. I show them the evidence that every time it rains (not in my attic) that service disappears. Two recent major Orange outages weren't escalated by OVH even though the whole village went off.
I am unable to get my modem replaced. Their answer is a Factory reset and if I do that no internet or phone until I return the faulty item and they confirm an issue and perhaps send another unit.
I begin to wonder if all Technicolor modems are broken and there aren't any spares?

Best Server Company In The World

I have been a customer of OVH/SoYouStart for almost 6 years now. I was absolutely amazed to see the bad reviews on here as i have had nothing but excellent support and services from them from day one.

Over the years i have spoke to the support team on a regular basis and i have got to know a few of them on a first name basis and sort of built a relationship with them. I have never spoke to them and not got to the end result. On numerous occasions they have gone above and beyond to help me resolve issues that i have had. My whole organisation relies on OVH and i wouldn't want it hosted anywhere else.

I think the problem is that OVH/SoYouStart is for the more advanced server admins that actually know what they are doing with regards to installing their own operating systems, networks, backups etc. Over the years OVH have made some really great improvements to their backend user control panels to make it as easy as possible for users to perform tasks such as installing new operating systems at the click of a button.

At first the networking of servers can be tricky, however they have a comprehensive set of guides that should be self explanatory to any competent admin. And like with anything once you become aware of how to configure it correctly you will have no issues going forward as it is the same for all the servers.

Over the 6 years i have had about 10 dedicated servers and a number of VPS servers. I have only ever had one server that has gone down on me and that was due to a faulty nic that was replaced within the hour. Apart from that i have had no downtime with OVH. I would highly recommend OVH/SoYouStart to anyone needing a server that has a good knowledge of being a server admin.

The prices are exceptional and unrivalled to be honest. The comments about the non existent support is simply not true i don't think i have ever had to wait more than 5 minutes on the phone to speak to anyone before. Even out of hours support is great with the guys in France and also Australia.

Overall OVH is a top quality server hosting company and i cannot recommend them highly enough. I will continue to use their services and products for as long as i run my own organisations.

Absolutely pathetic

Now, I can surely speak for this company when it comes to downtime. Our infrastructure with OVH consists of 1 master and 570 slaves (at the time of writing this). Yep, that's right. We have a total of 571 VPS SSD 1s with them. That amounts to just shy of $2,000 in monthly costs. Okay, enough of how much we're paying them and on with their quality of service.

For some time now (we've been customers on and off for just about 2 years now). At the time of writing this, I'm infuriated with this issue which has persisted since we've been with them from day one. Why we use them? The low price. Is it worth it? Absolutely not. You really get what you pay for.

The issue you ask? VPSs always go down all the time, having to KVM into each of the affected ones and restart the network interfaces. Sounds tedious right? Yep, especially when it cuts into precious development time where it can take 1-4 hours to fix all the VPSs just for that day.

Now, this isn't about how long it takes. It's about the down time. They will most likely not refund you for downtime as they claim on their end your VPSs are "online", which they're NOT. I've even emailed them with screenshots on how I go about fixing the issue to potentially help squash this issue once and for all.

Their care for customers is nonexistent. Again, this issue has persisted with them for years. We've informed them of the issue countless times throughout, and they seem to refuse to fix something that would keep us customers for life. Oh, and when they know it's on them, they ignore any tickets you send them. Like no response. Zero. Nada.

As a customer for 2 years, I can confidently tell you they are a shady company. I would try an alternative provider Digital Ocean, Amazon (a bit expensive), NOCIX, etc. Just search around - just don't go with 1&1, trust me, we're 1&Done. They're just as shady if not worse.

I've had enough with OfflineVH.

very bad service

I am using ovh since may be 10 years. They have good server with intresting prices but when it comes to assistance its is worst i have experienced. My site is not working since 5 days properly and i tried to tell them to explain me properly the way to make it work but they are not capable to explain me or make it work. It is a very simple question how to attache a domain from other service provider to ovh server but its that much complicated to explain for them that its still not working. i am tired of it and even i like the ovh since long time i think this is the time to quit. I thing they are not worrying about client service and they just need to work with the professional big comanies who has lot of money to pay them and pay a private persone to take care of the server and networking.

Lost time, data, work and money.

Choosing OVH was a big mistake, do not be attracted by good prices. Their Technical and Customer Assistance are very bad.
I've purchased a cloud server service for one month, I could use it for just a week: the server almost empty and without pubblic domain, with active firewall and fail2ban, was attacked, for 1 minute or 60 seconds, and OVH unilaterally terminated the contract. Lost time, data, work and money.

A nightmare

My company, Sky-tours.com is since years unhappy client of OVH. Their customer support is terrible. Now since over 10 days we experienced several hardware failures (servers and routers) and absolutely nothing happens except that they send us automated emails where they say, we will repair in max 10 days and please don't contact us. Our direct losses at the moment have mounted up to $25.000 so far. 60% of our clients can't fulfill a purchase online. We have during the years constantly experienced bad, unhelpful support but at the moment it's as is worst. We see no other choice than move away from this bad hosting Company. It's sad that they just don't care about their clients.

Very slow support

If you have a problem and need help you need to wait long time to get a response from OVH support.

I moved to YOORshop here you get an answer from support after 5 min. Very good and very fast support and fast hosting.
