Magical experience at Owl Obsession!
Having met Anna at a recent event in Somerset, I immediately booked a private handling session for my owl-obsessed three-year-old son — and it exceeded every expectation.
Communication beforehand was excellent. Anna gave us a clear run-through of what to expect, directions to the barn, and advice on the best time to visit so we could see the owls flying.
On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Anna and Theo, who showed us around the barn and introduced us to the many birds in their care. We learned about each owl’s personality, likes and dislikes, and ages, and were encouraged to ask questions throughout — a dream for a little boy eager to learn all things owl-related.
My son was then given the smallest owl, Fudge, to hold, and we then watched him fly and enjoy his favourite treat: chicken feet! Anna was incredibly attentive to the birds’ welfare, always recognising when they were ready to return to their nests, and seamlessly kept the experience going by bringing out different owls, each progressively larger. This was such a thoughtful touch, as it helped my very excited three-year-old build confidence as the session went on.
Although it was a very warm day, Anna made sure we were comfortable throughout, offering water and even ice creams — we felt genuinely looked after.
I can’t recommend this experience highly enough. It was absolutely magical for our family, and we are already desperate to go back. Thank you, Anna, for being such a wonderful host.
