We can be emailed and we reply by email also in that case - as we did and he emailed back he'd done a chargeback and would destroy us. It's a clear case of buyer's remorse and enforcing a refund via a chargeback, which is very costly for us, since we get fined $35 and we lose the money as well as the merchandise, in this case hundreds of dollars. Even if it doesn't get picked up, it's prohibitively expensive to re-import it from NZ due to Customs fees and shipping.

Leonardo Crespo is a bald-faced liar and a criminal (making false claims with intent to cause great damage, making unlawful threats, making false statements in court, unjust enrichment etc. etc.)

He has a history of lying in court (see Crespo vs. Tesla, Inc. 9:2025cv80129, https://www.damiencharlotin.com/documents/557/Crespo_v._Tesla_USA_30_June_2025.pdf

"In the case of Crespo v. Tesla, Inc., the pro se plaintiff, Leonardo Crespo, submitted discovery motions containing fabricated case citations and a false quote, which were identified as potentially generated by AI. The court ordered Crespo to show cause for these submissions and admitted to using AI in his filings. The court acknowledged Crespo's candor and imposed sanctions requiring him to apologize to the defendant's counsel and pay reasonable attorney's fees incurred by the defendant in addressing the fake citations."

(He then refused to pay the defendant's costs..)

He made this fake "review" after cursing us stiff with a litany of foul language and abuse for "not delivering" even after we today showed him that we'd emailed and SMSed him several times to collect his shipment and it can still be collected :

CS231468173CZ
Ready to collect
08:33am, 02 May 2026, Queenstown

Your parcel can now be collected at: NZ Post Private Boxes Queenstown

Instead of apologizing, he then replied he would completely destroy our company. He said he would spread on Reddit that we do not ship, make many bad reviews and persuade our payment processor to drop us (!!)

He filed a chargeback without ever contacting our Support - and can still pick up the merchandise any time, all the while lying about "not delivering"..

Due to the severity of his libelous claims, we see no other way to defend ourselves than to do it publicly on websites we've registered with his name, where we'll publish his photo and some interesting data on him. When you're shown the post office address where to pick up your package and then say: "I will ruin you, you will not even be able to receive money anymore and will tell Reddit and the whole internet all about you" instead of apologizing for accusing us of "not delivering" then we have the right to publicly defend ourselves, just as you publicly smear us.

Our website, which gets one million unique visitors per year, will soon on every page link to leocrespo.info and leonardocrespo.info when we've mounted a defense against his libel. He said "I'm very litigious" so we're looking forward to him wasting his money on lawyers because every time he represented himself he lost his case..

An honest review

I have been a loyal customer of Vaughter Wellness / Own doc since 2013 and feel this company, its employees and particularly the owner are long overdue some public love and acknowledgement from me !

I was very surprised to read some of the less positive reviews on here, having received nothing but outstanding service since my first order.

What has always stood out for me the most is the high level of integrity and ethics this company have; a rare quality it seems in business these days.

The website is a valuable resource of trusted information to guide you on your microneedling journey, the level of detail you don’t find elsewhere – I still refer to the manuals and forums now. Products are of an extremely high and trustworthy quality at an affordable price. Orders are quickly despatched and responses to queries are courteous, quick, helpful and efficient.

I have recently replaced my old Derminator with the Derminator II due to the discontinuation of the needle cartridges and was given a generous discount with no prompting.

I wish more companies had the same refreshing transparency and honest approach. I cannot recommend them highly enough. A big thank you from me🙏🏻

Nearly all bad "reviews" are from people we refused to sell to due to outrageous behavior or a refusal to abide by our T&C. And the remainder are from people who believe the bad "reviews" of folks, spreading FUD in revenge for us declining them as customers and choose not to buy from us but still feel frustrated about that so they pile up more FUD here like "They are so creepy, look at their weird website, it looks so dated!"..

Another Strange experience

Another Strange experience
Like so many of the reviews, the product is good but everything else is so weird!

Firstly, go to create an account - I'd rather just guest check out, but ok, if I have to, that's fine. Go to create the account and.... we don't support your email address @proton.me. Ok, strange, but on we go - next email address....failed. (Neither of these email addresses have ever failed in the past!)

Following on from that I get messages saying that I have to come out of private mode, turn off all cookie blockers etc... I've been online shopping since I can remember and no company has ever asked me to do this.

I didn't bother emailing the company as when my friend did she just got the response "it's not us, it's you".
I tried off several computers, MacBook, iPhone, android and PC to no avail.

There also seems to be a theme going on here, a poor review comes in... the owner responses - he always knows who they are somehow - a long email follows with made up nonsense, sometimes which goes way beyond what you'd expect on a review.
I know this as my friend also made a review (she had issues with the creepy settings thing), she never once contacted them and had a response with made up accusations with the owner pretending he knew her.
Shortly after a 5 star review comes in from a person who's only made one review - I wonder who that could be.
No wonder people are trying different heads or buying them at 10 times the price on eBay. So creepy.

Please change this Frank.

As nearly always, again a 1-star review from someone who is NOT our customer, never was and clearly does not WANT to be our customer.

The two types of Dr. Pen cartridges that fit the Derminator needle 1.25 mm too shallow so they're borderline useless, since the deepest reachable depth becomes a mere 1.25 mm. The Ultima AS6 does not damage our device but the Dr. Pen M8 cartridges abrade its tip after even one use so that only those cartridges will fit from there onwards and our own cartridges will rotate off. We warn against that in the manual and enclosed leaflet.

Those tariffs and the high cost of shipping are a big problem though, indeed. Better to buy dozens of cartridges upfront and be done with it for the next few years. If you buy 66 cartridges with the device, that's about half a dollar for shipping and tariffs per cartridge.

We of course can't accept email providers that refuse to deliver some of our important emails as SPAM. When customers don't get an invoice with payment confirmation, don't even get an account creation link email, don't receive tracking updates etc. in spite of our dedicated server (no 3rd parties that send emails from it) using all the good practices (DMARC, SPF, DKIM and not sending SPAM, ever) and enjoying many years of good email sending reputation, then there is nothing we can do but not accept emails from that domain.

Our store displayed this message to you:

"We do not accept email addresses from proton.me anymore due to them blocking our legitimate, important emails as SPAM. Please use a more reliable email provider such as hotmail or gmail. Do not forward mail from that address to your proton.me address, since some important ones may get blocked. Please make sure you monitor our emails, or we'll cancel your order in case you do not act on or respond to them."

No "nonsense", no "creepiness", nothing "weird". And as to your insinuation we're a crime gang that lives off installing viruses on people's computers and that the Derminator is just a smokescreen: The hint about disabling browser addons pertains when that software blocks the card fields on the payment page or the full URL to the account verification page. Nothing criminal, just a grizzled IT expert, pre-empting "I don't see a way to pay" and "I can't create an account!" (which we do to verify your email provider doesn't block us and here is no typo in your email address.)

I'm 60 years old and have been running our sites for two decades. Before that I owned rentageek.no in Oslo to help people with all and any computer problems, from setting up printers to repairing laptop motherboards to salvaging data on crashed HDDs to troubleshooting router & WiFi problems. When our site bothers you, it bothers you to prevent you (and ourselves) a potentially much greater bother.

We can't help it that many email providers are unwilling or unable to do "fair and balanced" spam filtering. They reject too many genuine emails as spam - disastrous for an eCommerce merchant. If Google and Microsoft can do it, they have no excuse. They simply don't care.

We accept yahoo.com, aol.com, gmail.com, hotmail.com, bigpond.com, passmail.com, outlook.com, live.com, msn.com, verizon.com, protonmail.com, passinbox.com, posteo.net, ymail.com and many more, as well as any email server you've running on your own website. But indeed we block many common ones also.

icloud.com, mac.com and me.com one day started blocking all our emails, including from existing customers because Liquidweb, from which we rent two dedicated servers, had a customer whose server was spamming. So Apple blocked the entire IP range of all of Liquidweb's 180,000 customers. Countless people and companies couldn't send email to these addresses anymore due to Apple punishing and intimidating Liquidweb.

Absolutely unprofessional, unacceptable sociopathic collective punishment which caused a lot of stress with our customers and ourselves so we will never accept Apple-owned email domains again.

Warranty and Customer Service

I bought the Derminator 2 three years ago. I was actually happy with it – until the needle cartridges (always reordered from Owndoc) stopped locking in properly. When I contacted Owndoc about the lifetime warranty, I unfortunately received no help. Quite the opposite: I was accused of having used third-party cartridges, and was simultaneously threatened with legal action if I shared my experience online. I have since purchased a different product and found that it is actually superior to the Derminator 2 from Owndoc.

Frank, inventor of the Derminator here. We always replace a malfunctioning Derminator hassle-free after a brief remote troubleshooting session and many of the reviews here confirm that. It's how we became so popular without ever having advertised. We've replaced hundreds of machines under warranty, even a decade after purchase. A display or power switch can fail. But we won't be intimidated into giving away things for no reason. When we have strong doubts and the customer refuses cooperation and instead issues threats and demands, we won't bow to that.

More than 70,000 people have been using the Derminator since 2014 (a relatively low number due to much lower sales, the first six to eight years - we now sell more than 15,000/year) and no more than one in 7,000 reported the same issue. Half of those confirmed that (1) they damaged the tip of the device with 3rd-party cartridges (a Dr. Pen M8 cartridge will do that and can't even needle deep enough on a Derminator). The other half had (2) re-used our own cartridges so often that they became too loose. It's theoretically possible that (3) bad injection molding causes the issue but in that case, our cartridges slide off by themselves at the first use and of course we replace the machine with a new one in that case. IIRC that happened one single time.

But he'd been using his machine for nearly three years and suddenly his cartridges started sliding off. After not having bought cartridges from us for two and a half years, his final purchase for a mere four cartridges. People started to buy Dr. Pen cartridges from their local Amazon to save a lot of money on itl. shipping, Customs fees/import tax and VAT/GST.

This means the cause is either (1) or (2). We have commercial users that used many hundreds of cartridges for years and never had problems - of course not - a softer plastic without sharp edges can't scrape plastic off a harder plastic. But a harder plastic with sharp edges can scrape plastic off a softer plastic.

He refused to order some new cartridges to verify that his issue was due to (2). He demanded we send him cartridges for free. His very first sentences to our Support demanded a replacement machine and enumerated the Swiss law paragraphs that he claimed entitled him to such. He was very certain that our machine broke under warranty. But refused to try a new cartridge to verify the issue was indeed with the machine and not with his old cartridges that he'd re-used for years. He wanted money, immediately. Our machine "broke" and he wanted money or merchandise without any cooperation to find out what caused the issue.

We think his review here might be ruled an act of aggravated criminal defamation - deliberately causing financial damage in revenge for not obtaining a material advantage, in spite of knowing that the defamatory claims are likely false. It's clear that the intention is to cause maximum damage, due to mentioning "inferiority" of our product, which is simply an unsubstantiated kick below the belt and unrelated to his actual warranty claim. We will let legal counsel examine whether his review is actionable, based on our support dialogue, his order history and this (preserved) review as well as expert advice in the field of materials science/engineering. If it is, he can either settle the matter (pay for our initial legal expenses) or we'll sue him for damages, penalties and legal expenses in the UK (our main seat & incorporation), Czech Republic (our tax residency and operation) or Switzerland (residency of the customer). Those are not unwarranted "threats" - those are natural consequences of unlawful actions. If you make defamatory claims in public, the only defense is proving in court that those claims are true. If you can't prove it, you will lose the lawsuit.

Love the Derminator and fast shipping to California

I'm honestly surprised to see so many bad reviews on this site. I ordered my Derminator roughly half a year ago and it arrived without issue. The machine has been an absolute pleasure to use and is far superior to anything else on the market for home use.

I placed an order to stock up on needles yesterday as I've run out, and they are scheduled to arrive on Friday - meaning 3 day shipping to California, which is incredibly impressive and faster than many US-based companies would deliver. When I placed my order for the Derminator, I remember that coming fairly quickly as well.

The website is slightly outdated but I don't mind, as it contains so much useful information regarding how to operate the machine and the order/shipping process. I have to agree with the owner that most of the poor reviews on here must come from people who didn't do their due diligence - if you read the website, you shouldn't have any issues making a purchase or using the Derminator. I haven't had any problems and will be a customer for life.

Thank you, Catherine.

TrustPilot forbids praising a company's products and with good reason so please remove that praise or else they will remove it and claim we are paying for good reviews. Yes, they did that in the past..

If one reads the bad "reviews", none of them are in fact *reviews* - they're all from people, bitterly complaining how we *refused* them as customers. Refused to sell to them! None are about bad products or service..

Our website is not at all outdated. It *looks* outdated. Merely it's style and design look outdated. The website itself is as least as modern and advanced than any other eCommerce site, including Amazon. We provide a great customer experience, such as the immediate emailing of a detailed invoice and sending SMSes when important tracking status updates happen, detailed breakdown of exactly that import fees to pay to the level of detail of the individual items in the order. Accurate transit time estimation and much, much more technological sophistication. And of course a very responsive customer Support where you *always* at least initially talk to the company founder and inventor of the Derminator. Usually within minutes of opening a support ticket, including at the weekend and on major holidays.

One of the best companies i have ever…

One of the best companies i have ever purchased from online. Sure the owner is autistic and a bit odd. The website looks outdated and sketchy. Lots of reddit threads giving out warnings.
But that's what makes the product good. You cannot achieve a solid product, if you put too much focus into the website design and marketing. ALL of the focus and effort has gone into dermatology research and making sure the products functions the best. And boy it shows.
I was initially suspicious for the reasons stated above, but i was much more suspicious of brands like the Dr. Pen, which may have amazing marketing and a beautiful website, but ZERO effort put into production. I put my faith into this store, and man am i amazed. It's seriously the best on the market right now in terms of performance. You could buy here for a very affordable price, or spend 500 dollars on a clinic treatment, which uses a 3000 dollar pen and still get worse results.
The only "hassle", is reading the instructions on the website. I recommend reading all of it, every single pdf document and watching every video. You should also be taking notes. This is absolutely essential, as any minor mistake can become critical later on. If you aren't willing to spend 30-40 minutes reading all the material, then you should go to a clinic and pay triple the price.

I know this review sounds a bit too exaggerated, as if i'm being paid by the owner to write this, but that just speaks to how impressive the company really is. Never in my life, have i encountered a company, that puts this much effort into their product and into making sure the customer knows how to use it. There is literally a mountain of clinical studies referenced in the instructions. This is the absolute best on the microneedling market, the competition doesn't even come close.

Thank you,
Kasper. I agree with everything you said.

I guess you mean by "any minor mistake can become critical later on" that quite a few people damage a needle cartridge by not reading our warning or allow the magnet to fly out (which then often disappears into a hidden dimension")?

I am *extremely* "autistic" (as in a whole building full of doctors spent a week on testing me when I was six - I'm sixty now) and without it, there was no way to have been able for me to develop "Device X that may or may not be the best to do Y". It's one of few things I'm really good at - taking unconventional ideas to fruition, using intense focus and grit. And programming. Our store indeed is confusing for some who're not used to read a lot and are used to the cookie-cutter slick design.

Our store looks decades old but it is rock-solid and technically sometimes even miles ahead of other stores that have big teams behind them. Our store not only emails/SMSes you when your package is about to be delivered but also tells you in advance how many days it will take, based on our past tracking data. It does countless things more, such as fixing the many serious barcode label problems our post office causes. Our store simply generates the barcode labels itself instead of using the ones the post office supplies us with. Our store is so sophisticated that if we'd polish the source code and layout, we could sell it for a seven-figure amount. We wrote our own support ticketing system and accountancy modules and factory JIT-ordering parts system and real-time data-replication to a backup server and so on. That there is no CSS used anywhere looks awfully dated but we're glad that it filters those who care first and foremost about trivial externalities.

So the store "backend" is highly sophisticated and being kept in pristine condition. Its front end is also kept in more-or-less pristine condition but mostly based on what I think "autistic" people would like to see. What I consider essential for a good store. Basically: "Unless you're 'autistic', GET THE @#$%! OUT OF MY STORE!"

(Just kidding ;-)

Really though - it's amazing, the % of our customers are PhDs with jobs in Silicon Valley or in high finance in NYC. Usually in STEM fields or Quant-type positions. Often when I'm curious or doing KYC-type due diligence I notice the person works in Silicon Valley or something like that. We indeed have never advertised but it seems it's disproportionally highly educated folks, spreading the good word. Joe Sixpack just largely ignores the mountains of text everywhere on our site and simply clicks "buy now" :-)

A Company With True Integrity

I’ve been dealing with this company since 2018 when I initially bought my Derminator 2 machine, and what’s kept me loyal all these years is their genuine integrity and consistency. Everything about how they operate reflects a deep commitment to quality and fairness. Their prices are always a pleasant surprise, their information is clear and easy to find on the website, and I love that everything is laid out so transparently - which is perfect for anyone who likes to thoroughly research everything before making a purchase.

Customer service is fast, friendly, and always professional. Shipping has been consistently prompt every single time. I was especially impressed recently when my seven-year-old machine suddenly stopped working without warning - and they very quickly arranged a brand new replacement. No drama, no delays - just genuine care and responsibility.

It’s rare these days to find a company that combines such honesty, fairness, and great service. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending them to anyone and fully plan to be their customer for many more years to come.

If you value a brand that truly respects its customers and stands behind every word they say, you’ll be in very good hands here and won't be disappointed.

I really regret how this turned out

I really regret how this turned out, because I genuinely wanted to order the Derminator 2. The product itself looks great and I was excited about the idea of purchasing it.

Before spending €200, I simply wanted some reassurance, so I decided to “test” the support team. I asked a polite question about the warranty and mentioned that I had seen a few negative reviews here and on Reddit, which had made me cautious.

Instead of receiving reassurance, I was accused of things I never said and ultimately blacklisted as a customer. All I wanted was an open conversation with customer service, but being too cautious apparently triggered hostility instead of clarity.

It’s a shame !
I would have happily placed an order if the interaction had been handled differently.

100% of bad "reviews" are from people we refused to sell to because they were rude or irrationally distrustful. This person was both, *and* he wanted a discount. "Hey can you reassure me you you're not a scammer? Oh and can you gimme some money?"

You tell me you don't believe in our advertised warranty policy, you tell me you don't trust us due to some people on Reddit that libeled us there in revenge for us not wanting to sell to them and in the same breath you have the CHUTZPAH to ask for a discount! We have some respect here, kid. You should cultivate that as well.

I'm interested in human psychology and often notice remarkable aspects in people who we're too afraid to sell to so I just looked you up. You turned yourself into a circus freak, trying to look like a gang member in a South American maximum security prison. I don't think polite, reasonable people do such a thing. It would explain why you behaved so badly.

Our store as well as nearly all stores in the world aren't shipping at all to the US anymore at the moment due to the postal services needing time to obtain important information for the US gov. to implement an IT solution pertaining the handling of the new tariffs. We're working on being able to offer shipping with using DHL, meanwhile.

Frank here.

I don't think it's immature and unprofessional not to sell an invasive medical instrument to someone unable to read or understand its user manual.

(This is yet another "review" by a customer we refused to sell to, as 100% of them are.)

This person was unable to find something that was very prominently indicated in the first few sentences of the store text of a product. She told us our site was a disorganized mess. I quote in its entirety the reason I told her we don't want to serve her:

"It has nothing to do with blaming. What cartridges come with the device is clearly mentioned at the top of its store description page. People who can't find that and contact us instead will pose too great a burden on our staff but more importantly, they won't bother to read, or won't understand, the user manual and General Dermaneedling Guidelines, which puts them in danger of skin damage and us in danger of them trying to hold us liable for "confusingness". Unprofessional companies, those only interested in money, would still sell invasive medical devices to such customers. We won't. And that you're trying to damage us for us protecting you against yourself shows I made the right judgement call not to sell to you."

As to our site being "busy and confusing": Our site is unlike all other competing sites because we actually provide the buyer with every scrap of honest information instead of trying to slickly funnel them into a sale. That has consequences as to the design, since the store text for our flagship product has a LOT of information so it's divided into paragraphs, bold headings, red text for particularly important information and some people's brains seem not to be able to handle it. Interestingly, they're always Americans. I read many articles that the majority of American university graduates are functionally illiterate! It's hard to convey a large amount of non-trivial information to analphabetics, dear Leeyah! Some people just don't want to bother with reading much, they get confused easily and instead of reading what's written, come to us, telling us how confusing everything is, how amateuristic we are and demand we spoon-feed them everything already easily accessible on our site. Our company and our products are not for them.

unreachable

I paid €172.00 for an item I never received. I've been trying to contact them for a refund for several days, but they're virtually unreachable.

Edit:

Thank you for providing your order details. You used a different name on your order and also that person never emailed us or filed a support ticket. I just refunded you, since tracking shows our shipment is returning because Posta Italiana claims you provided an incorrect address. Please update the rating on your review, since it is grossly inaccurate and unfair. You never contacted us but we asked you to pick up the parcel at your post office a long time ago - This is what we emailed you:
