Tom Pace’s Actions Hurt My Business and Targeted My Customers
In 2020, Tom Pace—author of Mentor: The Kid & The CEO and CEO of PaceButler Corporation—invited me back into the phone business. As a friend and mentor, I trusted him; our agreements were based on friendship, not formal contracts. By 2023, I had purchased over $700,000 worth of phones, with nearly $200,000—close to 30%—being defective. The failure rate eventually climbed to 40%, crippling my business.
Despite my repeated efforts to resolve the issue, Tom refused to take responsibility, hiding behind invoice terms and dismissing our verbal agreements. Determined to find answers, I traveled to Oklahoma with my wife and children. When it became clear he wouldn’t honor his word, I asked for $5,000 to cover the trip’s expenses. Instead of addressing the situation, he erupted, hurling insults and humiliating me in front of my family.
