Stuck at customs with a $600 fee

I shipped a new laptop to Colombia for an employee's home office. The laptop arrived in Bogota but has been held at customs. Talking to FedEx, they say there is a $600 fee that needs to be paid to release the shipment and they will need to use another carrier because FedEx doesn't ship to the town I need. I've tried for a week to reach someone at PackageHopper but their website chat is unavailable and they are no longer answering their texts on WhatsApp. I've reached out to the parent company, MyUS, and they have said they forwarded my request to PackageHopper and I'll receive an email. After a week and three different requests I still have heard nothing.

They came through for a small shipment…

They came through for a small shipment to Sweden last summer, so I tried them again for a small gift to the same address in Sweden and the identical item to a friend in France. I see that they have told Aramex, the international shipper, different weights for identical items. My biggest problem that they do not respond to emails or WhatsApp texts and their "24x7" chat service is never working. Their customer service is non-existent.

ATTENTION!!! These are not professionals!

I sent a package from the United States where I am now, to my home in Italy, containing personal effects that I didn't want to pack on my next trip home, plus many souvenirs and Christmas gifts for friends and relatives.
When completing the shipment, the portal asked me if I wanted to purchase insurance that covered the entire value of the package for any damage or loss of the package during shipping. Then I reported the value of the content and the type of products, specifying that they were gift products and used products.
Not being a company and not being goods for commercial use, I did not have and was not required any invoice. But despite all this, the gentlemen saw fit to produce an invoice writing that the package contained spare parts for motorcycles...so due to their INCORRECT declaration, the customs of my country applied the taxes as if they were goods destined for sale, therefore making me pay over 1/3 of the value of the package. And this is unacceptable, because between shipping and these taxes that I didn't have to pay, in the end I spent more than the products contained in the package were worth.

Another very serious thing is that the products contained inside had been protected and individually packaged by me in packages and envelopes, both to protect them during the journey and because they were gifts intended for different people. Furthermore, the large package that contained them all was protected on departure with film and FRAGILE signs scattered everywhere...precisely because inside there were fragile objects such as cups, plates, etc.
Unfortunately upon delivery when the package was opened, we discovered that more than half (about 30 out of 42 total) of the packages and envelopes had been opened. All the bubble wrap bags of various sizes that contained small products had disappeared, and the objects contained had been thrown among the other boxes, without protection, and in fact something was ruined. Other slightly larger boxes were open, and the products inside had been stored without protection, so during the journey objects such as ceramic cups and plates that were in their original polystyrene packaging were damaged.
Plus an important product, a pocket watch is missing! INCREDIBLE!!!
Therefore the opening of the packages was not intended for an inspection, but for a real search for something to steal, given that the inspection of the products is done using x-rays to check the true nature of the goods.
Try to imagine what a bad feeling you feel after having spent a lot of money, finding your goods stolen and damaged, and 3 days before Christmas having to waste more time and money to replace the gifts that these "gentlemen" had broken due to their failure. professionalism!

Clearly I tried to write an email to their address, to complain about their poor service, but 4 days later, I have had no response! Nice seriousness towards customers...

I'll wait a few more days, after which I'll make a formal complaint!
In the meantime, I will OBVIOUSLY never again ship with this company that claims to be professionals, ripping off and damaging products purchased with hard work!

I advise you to search on the internet, and fortunately you will find other alternatives which, although slightly more expensive, offer a serious and reliable service!

Happy Holidays to all of you, but not to those at Package Hopper!!!

Missing package

I shipped a package to Mexico, but it was stuck at the border with customs. I contacted DHL to release it to return home, and it was returned to PackageHopper, not me. DHL didn't have my information so they couldn't tell me the destination where they delivered it. So I have a missing package and I hope packagehopper finds it and sends it back since it didn't reach it's destination
Update… I was notified that Packagehopper uses their address as a return address for all international shipments, hence DHL couldn’t return it to my address. I had to pay again to have it shipped from Packagehopper to my house. They asked me to purchase a return shipping label with my address from UPS or USPS. It is now on its way, after more money. DHL was willing to return the package to its original sender, but they didn’t have that information to fulfill my request.

PackageHopper Rocks!

My initial Chat Customer Service contact person provided incorrect information twice (!) and sadly lacked the required product knowledge to respond to my query ie. package ID & tracking, leaving me extremely dissatisfied and frustrated. However, not being easily dissuaded, I located the website Customer Service portal sending my concerns via email. To my surprise, the response I received from the agent - Breanah, was amazing! Her professionalism, empathy, friendly and prompt service was beyond my greatest expectations. The item sent to New Zealand was a Care Package to assist my family affected by Cyclone Gabrielle, Breanah single-handedly restored my confidence, walked the company's talk, went the extra mile to contact her agents in Florida, and gave me the much-needed reassurance that my concerns were addressed & my package was safely on its way to NZ. Even though on arrival my carefully wrapped contents were in complete disarray, Breanah's actions alone, ensured that I will definitely use PackageHopper for future consignments to NZ remaining aware that every item will be opened and inspected AND that NZ Customs will charge GST if the information provided is not sufficient. PackageHopper took care of it all at this end! I'm grateful to Breanah and her agents - thank you & God Bless you!

Poor Service

Don't use them if you are one who prefers to speak to agents. I absolutely hate trying to deal with issues thru Chat. There was a package that I had tried to deliver to Spain for Christmas but unfortunately, this was not done. I will take the blame for the non delivery. I had included chocolate in the package which was not allowed thru customs. The reason for my 1 star is due to the horrible customer service experience in trying to get this issue resolved. First of all, I was never notified from package hopper about the situation. I was told by the family member who I tried to get this delivered to. I reached out to them many times. At the end of it, I was told I had to use another company. Let's just say that all I got from the situation is more confusion, extreme frustration and didn't feel like my issue would ever get resolved.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. After spending hours wrapping Christmas gifts and baby gifts with beautiful paper, bags and personalised tags, gift arrived in Norway with all paper, tags and bows totally removed from the box! MyPackagehopper has opened the box, unwrapped all the gifts and thrown all wrapping out! All contents arrived as if items had been thrown into the box with no care at all. I am beyond furious! What a huge mistake using them. Do not use these people, there was no difference on cost either.

No Merry Christmas for You!

I sent a box of Christmas presents from my home in Florida to my daughter in Ireland. The shipper used DHL for clearance and delivery in Ireland. I carefully wrapped the presents and packed the box, unaware that each item would be unwrapped at customs. Since I had room in the box, I sent stocking stuffers, some mail, and other little items of no real value. I was also unaware that each item would be itemized on the customs form, so each present was unwrapped, each item listed, and I paid 5 euros for each item after the first 5 items. Seventy euros - on top of the delivery fee, customs and taxes - just to itemize mail and chapsticks! When the box arrived at my daughter's home, it was unsealed and the items carelessly thrown in. It ruined my Christmas! DO NOT USE DHL!

Service has gone down hill, missing items.

Service used to be great! Dropped of directly to FedEx, arrived in Australia in 3 days! No better prices… and then…after about 8 months where they could not ship to Australia the service came back far more expensive, slower shipping, and an undisclosed shipping company.

Short version; our package was opened and repackaged by package hopper (no clue why, we’ve packed before just fine) and a few items went missing. PackageHopper says they didn’t see it. So stuck with a He said she said limbo.

Lost more goods than what we saved.

FRAUD, you will be asked to pay by fedex again

I used them to buy a fedex package. I was charged for the same and package was delivered and now from last 6 months fedex is asking to pay 200$ for the same. They are fraud company and doesn’t pay fedex, and now they are telling fedex system have issues. When I contacted few months back they said they have invoice issues with fedex and they will fix the same and nothing was done for the same and now they are putting it on fedex. NEVER USE THIS FRAUD COMPANY!!!!

Skeptical and hesitant to use again

Sent a package almost a month in advance for my stepson‘s birthday. The shipping was incredibly cheaper than using the United Postal Service or FedEx directly.. printed out the label, took it to FedEx dropped it off but didn’t know that I needed to print out customs sheets after reading the details. Package was sent to West Africa Dakar took about a week in half to make it there …I was able to watch all the movement of the package that made me feel reassured. Package went Paris, west Africa then some small country…it sat there for over a week, called customer service at FedEx then they transferred and given a number at FedEx in Africa talk to probably five or six people after multiple calls to find out that the package needed a broker I needed to open up an FedEx account so FedEx could be the broker/to transport to local post office … this was mayhem… we sorted it out the package arrive about 3 days after my son‘s birthday. But it did get there and I was not charged any additional fees … skeptical to use again… just a big headache.

Package Hopper

On 7-17-22 & 7-18-22, Access USA without notice began withdrawing the following UNAUTHORIZED amounts from my Package Hopper shipping account; $599.99, $599.99, $599.99, $303.20, $303.20. Perhaps these are the amounts the insurance claim would have been given to me, however these amounts were being withdrawn from my bank account via PayPal. I had to block Access USA’s access to my PayPal account and delete payment info on my Package Hopper online account, to prevent further withdrawals.
History: 3/23/22 I paid Package Hopper / Access USA / myus (all same entity) a total of $497.82 to ship 3 packages to Ghana, Africa. Package Hopper shipped these via FedEx, tracking #s 271192171567, 271192657280, 271193043917. FedEx has refused to release packages to recipient due to ‘fraud’, citing that the account # is invalid.
I requested myus to pay FedEx, since I paid them. Or; reimburse me, since all 3 shipments were fully insured.
PH has refused to rectify this situation. All packages still sit in Ghana in FedEx’s office.

Awful !!

Do be fooled by their cheap price; for I had to pay much more due to their clerical error! I sent my 89 Lbs well sealed package and a carefully filed invoice. PackageHopper created a dupe with discrepancy in it, this directly resulted the Australian Customs had my package detained for 2 months, and eventually arrived with the box cut open, I had to pay Australian authority extra for their inspections.
The entire time, PackageHopper by MyUS did not lend any help with the issue and their attitude was I can't shake them, tough luck, story end.

Cautiously optimistic!

Used them to send overseas package, worked great so used them again, this time my package got held up and never delivered for a reason never fully explained to me! Package Hopper kindly offered a full refund which they didn’t send, when I kept checking on it they finally sent it to my PayPal but disputed it 2 days later and got their money back! They did it in a way that made it look like I offered them a service I didn’t provide and when I responded to dispute PayPal didn’t even review my document showing it was refund! Now I have a negative balance in PayPal because I had already transferred the money! Still trying to resolve this thru PayPal!

Update: After multiple emails back and forth they have reissued my refund!! I am cautiously waiting to see if they leave it this time! My experience with them the first time was excellent so hopefully this is now resolved!

Updated - Still looks like a scam. They seem like a scam

My original review is below the lines. Here is an update.

I was going to write a better review after they "refunded (sounded like a fake refund to me)" me the FedEx's double-charged money (they charged me because of packagehopper made a mess) on PayPal.

Guess what? They are still a fraud. They sent me the money on PayPal, I thanked them by email for fixing the problem, and now they are claiming the money back on PayPal.

They are calling ME a seller!!!! I am not a seller, I am just a regular individual who used YOUR service.

Don't think that they are nice people just because THEY COMPANY/TEAM REPLY TO YOU ON TRUSTPILOT. It is a scam!!! They are just acting nicely in the public eyes but they are right now literally scamming me!!!

I really wanted to write a nice review for these people after "fake fixing" my problem! Why did I use their service?? This is the worst experience of my life. There is no way around these people.

all I want to say to myself is that STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! I don't ever want to deal with them in my life again. These people have given me so many headaches and negative experiences. Worst!!

---------------------------------------------------------------
They seem like a scam! I sent an international package through them for a very low price. I was very happy, until, FedEx charged my credit card for an additional amount which was more than 5 times the original amount!

Their website disappeared for a few days with no one to contact. When they came back up, I reached out to them in an email. They originally promised to resolve all these but then they stopped responding to my emails.

These people appear to be complete frauds!!! Please stay away from them.

I need help recovering my money. Please provide any suggestions! I am completely helpless at this moment.

Hello, we apologize for the confusing situation. Unfortunately, during the time our systems were down, we also encountered a FedEx invoicing issue that affected some of our customers. We've so far completely sorted this issue for any customers who were affected and sent us the additional invoices to be reported. It sounds like you were charged directly by FedEx, and we are extremely sorry about that! If you can reach out to our Customer Service team (https://packagehopper.myus.com/contact/) with the affected PackageHopper orders and the invoices/charges you got from FedEx, our team is happy to get that refunded for you ASAP. Again, we are so sorry this has affected your experience with PackageHopper.
