Awful experience with the Basildon office.

After negotiating to leave a reputable global employer myself in 2025, I ended choosing Palmers to sign off on the agreement (support a local business they say). Awful, Awful decision. Something that should've taken two hours and a few days was dragged out for a whole month, Palmers ended up requesting a higher fee from the employer (something that was agreed before they were engaged) and then invoiced me the additional fee threatening to take me to court for a settlement that they didn't negotiate.

Very very unprofessional.

Destroyed my relationship with the company as they believe I was encourage Palmers to be that difficult.

Disgrace.

The only reason I didn't take them further is because the company is not worth the light of day.

Unprofessional- elderly parent moving for first time. No consideration given to age. Communication poor, had to be chased. Estate agent frequently gave us more information. Try elsewhere

I had an awful experience with this company and I could not recommend them to anyone. I thought it was initially a bit strange to have communications with several different people but I assumed that it just meant they had a good handle on my matter. I was in the process of buying a property with cash and what should have been straightforward took 5-6 months and in the end fell through . The solicitors did not keep me well informed during the course of the sale and I had to constantly request updates. There was a particular issue which was the reason why we couldn’t proceed with the sale and the company did not disclose this to me at any time. I was made aware by a 3rd party who also informed me that the sale would not be going ahead. I am highly disappointed because not once did my solicitors take the time out to explain to me their client what was going on behind the scenes. They just explained everything once the sale had fallen through and I was out of pocket. They also demanded payment for sub par services which I truly believe is undeserving. Do not proceed with the company particularly the Chafford hundred branch.

I have been using Palmers Thurrock for over 10 years and they just never disappoint me.

I am aware of the conveyancing process and they just never delay anything, they always chase the other sides, do their due diligence etc.
Selling a property during this mad period and having a solicitor who doesn’t know their job or checks emails once per week it’s the worst.
Brooke, Layla, Lauren and team are always on the case, they are so reliable and just offered me the peace of mind knowing my solicitor is active and keeps me updated throughout the process.

I have used the conveyancing services of Palmers three times in the past year, with Hannah in the Basildon office. She is highly efficient, has excellent communication skills and resolves problems quickly. 5 stars for Hannah, thank you.

BASILDON OFFICE - Would not reccomend, quick to charge you for 'work' that has never taken place and for a discussion that doesn't even include you, rather their superior. Then when you do make payments, they threaten you with court and have no decency to even acknowledge the payments being sent. Go elsewhere, they are cowboys and talentless and like to scare vulnerable customers. AVOID!

I highly recommend Palmers Solicitors for their diligent work and professionalism, they were very happy to answer any questions that I had, and as a first time buyer I found the process of buying a flat incredibly daunting and at times, confusing, however the team were fantastic.

I applaud Brooke's professionalism and hard work, I felt well looked after, she was quick to respond to any queries and did an excellent job with any issues she had to the seller's solicitors and management company overseeing the leasehold.

Next time I purchase my next property, I will use this team again!

I have used Palmers Law several times over the years but i wont be using them anymore.

On the last case I used Palmers Law for they put a member of staff who quite frankly was not qualified for this case at all.

It involved them including wrong information into a clause which was needed for a specific contract.

This resulted in myself and business partner being £15,000 out of pocket.

Once I had got other legal advice they confirmed the clause included was not strong enough, this is not something you expect from a Solicitor you are paying to represent you properly.

Once I contacted Palmers Law regarding this they completely ignored the mistake and said they haven't done anything wrong with the service they provided

Therefore I am still £15,000 out of pocket.

As a regular customer over the years for them to treat me like this is obscene and I dread to think the service they would provide for new customers!

Avoid these solicitors at all costs!

I previously had a positive experience with this solicitor's firm, which led me to use their services again. Unfortunately, during my most recent interaction, I was assigned a different representative within the company who, I believe, lacked the necessary expertise for conveyancing. This resulted in errors in the contract that ultimately cost us £15,000. Avoid using these!

Do not expect any assistance, empathy, consideration, tact or good old fashioned customer service. Brought unnecessary stress to a dying man. Refused to confirm the funeral wishes of the said dead man to his next of kin. There for the grace of god we chose correctly. I guess at 50/50 odds we got lucky! Having waited 4 weeks for a will reading we drove 160 miles to be told your need to book another appointment for that!! Wow wow wow! Poor comms from start to finish. Zero empathy in fact on arrival the lady said Mr x have you your ID? Everyone else in the process of dealing with the deceased estate have all started with as I am sure you reading this would sorry for your loss. Palmers no they don’t give a damn. They have several departments of law. This is really the one and only department that needs to show empathy. It’s ok though as when you research other companies they are more than happy to spend time discussing how to execute a will. Palmers must of assumed my parents die all the time and that this for me is water of a ducks back! STEER CLEAR! Ask your relations to do there will and power of attorney elsewhere and save the people they leave behind the stress and anxiety in what will be some of their most difficult moments in life.

I entrusted this firm to deal with a rather complex case but they practically abandoned us at the end costing us a huge amount of money
They sent us a bill and then a week later sent us a N1 claim form for non payment. We spent an awful lot of money with this firm and they treated us appallingly I would not recommend this firm to anybody and suggest anybody thinking of using them take their business and money elsewhere. Reading the reviews it seems i am not the only one that has had a problem with them

Used these people to sort out a will,all staff were very friendly,the solicitor I saw was excellent,highly recommended.

Brooke from Palmers solicitors in Chafford Hundred was so polite and professional. She was always available to talk if we needed and if she was absent a competent sales assistant would work on our house sale and also be available at all times. Very pleased with the support and guidance we received whilst selling our home, purchasing a new home and also sought extra advice from the family law team.

Yagnesh Shah at Palmers was personally recommended to me for the conveyance when I wanted to sell my house at auction. In our first call he thoroughly explained the process and detailed the fees up front, which were transparent and all-inclusive.

Yagnesh is highly knowledgeable and professional. I found him to be polite, friendly and personable at all times. We met twice, for verification & handover of documents and to answer any questions I had.

The conveyance was complicated by missing Title Deeds for the property. Nonetheless, Yagnesh overcame the challenges, taking care of the whole process on my behalf. I was kept duly informed along the way. The auction Legal Pack was well prepared in good time and, upon the highly successful house sale, exchange and completion of contracts followed promptly and smoothly. What more could I ask?!

On my own experience, I have no reservations in recommending Palmers, with special thanks in particular to Yagnesh.

This company delayed matters to get more money and had several documents with major errors to which I asked to be rectified which they didn't insisting on extra money to rectify their mistake.
I decided to go with another firm . When I told them they insisted on more money even though I had paid on account in advance.
Please use another firm.

Prolonged the matters to get more money.
Tried to coerce money for work not completed.
Solicitor tried to get payment for a court appearance that could have been done via video link.

Please avoid these money orientated firm

Terrible Law firm. Messed up my very simple divorce a few years ago by failing to submit documents in time. Was involved in another family law case further to this with this firm representing my ex-partner and they missed every court deadline for filing and serving paperwork.

Avoid these at all costs , terrible service . It’s been almost 2 years since i entrusted Palmers with dealing with my Late husbands estate and it’s still not finalised . The amount of stress and anxiety they have caused me on top of a harrowing time I feel is disgusting. This is probate and conveyance department .
