Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 42 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Travelers frequently complained about exorbitant parking fees and expensive drop-off charges, alongside confusing layout signage that frequently leads drivers into incorrect lanes. Visitors also reported frustratingly long queues at security and passport control, accompanied by frequent instances of unhelpful or dismissive behavior from staff members. Some reviewers were happy with the fast processing times and found specific staff members to be extremely welcoming, polite, and genuinely helpful. A portion of consumers also noted that the walking distances inside the terminal were conveniently short and greatly appreciated the smooth, efficient boarding procedures.

I wouldn't even give 1 star if I could…

I wouldn't even give 1 star if I could help it. Flew to Turkey from Liverpool on 28th May. I'd booked assisted travel due to having a disability. Got in line and waited 40 minutes before even moving. The security staff were just checking through the normal line and fast track. As I was stood by the fast track entrance and struggle to stand for long periods of time, I went on line to buy a fast track ticket. Came to use it but wasn't allowed to as my flight was within 6 hours of me buying it. There was no mention of this however when buying it. I was annoyed but hey it was only a fiver. Finally the line started to move. I got to more or less the start of the queue and put my bag, house keys, over £500 in cash, all my bank/credit cards, phone etc in the tray to go through the scanner but then it was another 20 mins before I was scanned meaning my bag was just sat there for anyone to take. Then today they've fraudulently tried to take another £66.63 out of my account. Luckily my bank have stopped this transaction. Rob dogs!!!

Management a disgrace

This could be a fantastic airport if only tbe management took more care of its passengers departing and arriving first of all I must say the the check in desks and security are fine but the cleanliness and facilities are far below average we all know that resteraunts and shops in airports are very expensive and have to accept that but the food they serve should at least be edible and the tables cleaned regularly which is not the case here the toilets don't seem to be cleaned and toilet tissue is non existent in some of the cubicles do obviously these arnt checked throughout the day and I know a lot of people use the smoking area which is fine but it's never cleaned the stairs leading down to it are filthy and ashtrays never emptied lastly on arrival the arrival hall is a disgrace where are the cleaners and for people wanting a taxi there is no cover when waiting outside so if you arrive in very bad weather or late at night you are literally left in the cold I don't believe for one minute the airport cannot afford to put some kind of shelter up as they charge taxi drivers 6 pound before they can even enter the airport to.pick you up absolutely disgraceful the management need to get a grip and maybe more people would fly from Liverpool

Item stolen from our car at drop and go

Do not use the drop and go car park, we left our car on Friday to fly to Madrid for a weekend only to find on our return my expensive coffee mug that Id used for the journey down to be missing. Not the end of the world, it’s only a coffee mug but glad we didn’t have anything else of value in the car as that would have no doubt gone too!!

Sable & Co. tried the new bar, table service does not justify the expensive costs and service charge.
Meagre portions and understaffed.

I’ve been in 3rd world airports which are better than this. It’s grubby, staff distinctly unfriendly. Coming back I needed help deplaning due to a bad knee - no one there. Another lady was in a wheelchair stuck on the plane. Never again.

Absolute disaster of an airport

Absolute disaster of an airport, guy at the security line didn't know how far gates are from the security area. Does he just stand there all day?? The security one long string of misery in his 30s with black hair and a plump blonde lady on gate 5 were extremely rude and very incompetent, I hope those staff have a similar experience on their travels.

Maybe they might take their job seriously, most of them look like students on work experience or people who have given up on life. With their attitudes they wouldn't get hired any place else. Check the rest of the reviews the airport is a disgrace. We never leave bad reviews if we can help it but this place deserves it. Take the reviews seriously John Lennon airport eventually it will come back to haunt you.

Liverpool Airport amazing - Kissing Gate disgusting...

Liverpool Airport is our preferred airport to Manchester Airport which is shocking! Service is always brilliant and airport is clean.
Travelled yesterday, 26 April 2025 and the airport 100% once again. However they need to close down the Kissing Gate eatery as went for coffee prior to flight. Stood awaiting service for 15 minutes and then asked for a table number but 3 small round tables near the entrance did not have a number so they said they would deliver to nearest table with a number!!! Waited 20 minutes and nothing so went to ordering area again and staff member said "we are very busy". Coffee made and Americano was simply a mug full of hot water with a dash of coffee. Complained and staff, especially the chap who made the coffee, could not have cared less and blamed it on machine. A very expensive error and place to be avoided at all costs. Staff totally disinterested, coffee disgusting and undrinkable and place should be shut down. Whoever runs it should hold their heads in shame. The place is so dirty it is a health hazard and customers have to clean tables themselves or put up with spills and food waste.

I see Liverpool John Lennon are now…

I see Liverpool John Lennon are now taking my advice from February to get the airlines to inform of this issue which caused over 43 people to miss our flight , this is almost 25% of the flight. (If you were due to fly to Sofia on flight FR6338 please get in touch as a group of us are fighting this together.) Despite us arriving on time we missed our flight. I requested LJL to review their cctv footage but this has been ignored twice. I will include my email below which is being continually rejected by customer service with a ridiculous statement about us only “scanning in” at 4.30…. The security Ques were snaking out past the scan in point preventing us from scanning in despite being there. We had kids and everyone was pushing through in a blind panic. (15 people missed the Krakow flight , and more to Tenerife.) THOUSANDS of extra costs for families due to this issue and customer services give NO actually response and do not reply when you respond with more fact.
No final call warning was made.
No help or support for families with prams.
Mayhem as people pushed forward.
It’s an absolute joke to expect everyone to shoulder the costs left.

First email ; (half asleep at this point.)

Second email ;

I urge you to review your CCTV footage, as the queue for Ryanair stretched outside the airport doors. A total of 43 passengers—approximately 25% of the flight—missed their departure, which is far from normal.

We arrived at the airport with sufficient time, as evidenced by our entry from the long-stay car park (GX23ULM). The footage will confirm that we allowed ample time for check-in and security. However, widespread system failures resulted in extreme queues, as openly acknowledged by your own staff. Numerous employees complained about the disruptions caused by the recent system changes, which directly led to significant delays. If you review the CCTV footage, you will clearly see the stress and frustration on the staff and passengers' faces. Having taken numerous flights from Liverpool over the years, I have always found the airport to be efficient and fast. However, this was by far the worst experience and longest queue I have ever encountered—especially at Liverpool. This aligns with the concerns raised by staff and the issues experienced by myself and many others due to the failure of the new systems.

Had this issue affected only our flight or just a handful of passengers, we might have accepted your response. However, the sheer number of travelers impacted, combined with the visible chaos—passengers pushing to the front, arguing, and further delaying the process—made this a preventable nightmare.

Even if our boarding passes were scanned at 4:30, this does not reflect the actual queue time at security, which exceeded an hour and stretched beyond the scan in gates. This was on top of the ryan air que at the front check in. Staff repeatedly assured us that our gates would remain open, yet they were closed upon our arrival. Had we ignored the queue and pushed ahead—like many others were forced to do—we might not be in this situation. We respected the staff and the queuing system unlike others.

43 passengers to Sofia, then more from Krakow and Tenefire—a total of approximately 70-80 passengers that I am aware of, If you genuinely believe that this many travelers all failed to arrive on time, then there is a serious underlying issue. Even your own staff were shocked by the number of affected passengers, stating they had never seen such a widespread disruption before.

I appreciate you going away and taking more time to further investigate the issue and present evidence to support your position as from where I am standing the issue lies with the airport system failures.

Whilst I appreciate you now sharing the information regarding the works at the airport, this would have been much better to share with us via a different route PRIOR to our flight and not after. Such as ensuring Ryan air sends this information to their passengers as I do not frequent your airport social media, this is the first time I am hearing about you having a social media presence.

I write this as I receive an email regarding security issues from Ryan air. This would have been good in February for all the families withc children, those people trying to get home breaking down crying as they can’t afford to repay. Absolutely heartbreaking and LJL are just brushing it under the carpet. For the man who couldn’t afford to go home with his family due to the extra costs. To the old lady who had to borrow money. I will continue to fight this for you, each and every one of you. If you missed this flight and want to get in touch please do by finding Emma Jayne Lavin , I won’t be silenced on this LJL so I suggest you get in touch. I do see that you have a high volume of complaints at the moment though.

I have been using John Lennon airport…

I have been using John Lennon airport for over 35 years, always choosing it over Manchester as I felt it was a quick and smooth process to fly. This is no longer correct. I had a flight booked for 8.05am this morning. I got there in plenty of time but on arrival to the security hall the line was a like a snake and out the door to where you first go in and scan your boarding card. I asked one of the staff on numerous occasions that my flight was 8am and i would not make it as the queue was taking to long he said "there is nothing we can do". I then tried to buy a fast pass but the system was also down. I kindly asked to go to the front of the queue which people let me as they knew my flight was boarding. I finally got through and got to the gate 16 minutes before boarding. When i was getting my passports out, they lady behind the counter said "quick close it". Which then i was informed that i missed my flight. I said i was here on time. It wasnt my fault that there was an issue with security. They said we know that it was not my fault as they have had issues with security but i cannot get on the flight. Another 15 people came rushing to the gate who were also late because of security also missed their flight. They did try and get us another flight as they said it wasnt our fault but there was none available. We were told to complain the the airport staff as there was nothing they could do. The deputy manager came to explain the reasons why security was so bad. There are 6 machines but only 3 were working. Also 3 xray machines had broken and where the bags go through, they kept on being rejected even when they had been checked 3 times. After all the explanation, he still said there was nothing that he can do. There was 35 people who had missed their flights due the issues with security but they kept on passing the responsibility to everyone but themselves. I have video evidence of all of it and the 35 people involved all took each others numbers. we are starting whatsapp group as one of the passengers was a solicitor so we are making joint complaint.
I am so disappointed in in John Lennon Airport. Coming from Liverpool i have always been proud of the service that they provide but this has changed my opinion and I would not recommend using it in the future unless they take responsibility regarding bad services and faults. Its not just the flight money we are down, its the accommodation, transfers, car parking, petrol, excursions booked and time of work. JOhn Lennon Airport you should be ashamed of what happened today and instead of blaming others, take responsibility and look after your customers.

I haven’t been to Liverpool airport for…

I haven’t been to Liverpool airport for over a year and I’m never coming back. Security was absolutely shocking and mismanaged. Staff was rude. It took 2h to get through security and more than 30 people missed their flights. There is no one at the airport you can directly talk to about any complains and customer service is impossible to contact. Don’t bother.

Not used Liverpool airport before but decided to give it a try..never again and I thought Manchester was bad...going through Security lots of members of staff busy chatting to each other on the belts taking luggage trays through...no concentration on their job.
Leaving this section the escalator to departures was good but on having to walk down steps to departure lounge no lift and if there is one no directions.
A long walk making you go through duty free longer than Manchester as an example.
Not impressed at all and will in future use Manchester... Quite upset at this as he could be so much better with customer service

Security is so inefficient go through the scanner then stand aside and get checked again while everyone else waits in the queue for the scanner. Wrong gate announcements caused chaos. No seating. Horrible coffee. To be avoided at the moment

Dozens of passengers missed flights

At least fifteen passengers missed their Ryanair flight to Shannon (FR 5224) this morning. This was due to dire mismanagement of security queues at Liverpool airport. If we needed to arrive three hours before departure, then this should have been clearly communicated to all passengers, in conjunction with the airlines and/or booking agents.
