Very badly handled dispute / refund claim
I was extremely disappointed with the manner in which Paypal dealt with a recent dispute with one of their vendors. They basically did not properly review the information I sent them, then sent an email asking for the same information I already sent them and when I did not manage to reply within 3 days automatically awarded the dispute to an irreputable seller and now I cannot even appeal this - absolutely scandalous - I have now given the matter to my underlying bank to resolve and clawback the money and will be terminating my Paypal account - if they can not look after you in these situation they are unfit for purpose.

Impossible to contact
A refund was issued to me after a sale cancelled, on 21st January. As of today, 1st March, the refund doesn't appear in my bank statement. PayPal doesn't have a proper customer service and it's impossible to speak to anyone other than calling a phone number where you are endlessly put on hold. I may escalate with customer protection in Ireland, this is not a proper customer service

I am going to make this as short as possible! I basically had a refund issue with PayPal, so i ordered some flight tickets back in 2025 January, and we had to cancel said tickets around the end of 2025 due to personal things.
After an insane amount of back and forth with both the Danish PayPal as well as the flight company in question, both companies kept telling me that there is nothing they can do and that it isnt their fault.
Fast forward 2 weeks of messaging the airline back and forth, i attempt to contact the Danish Paypal once again, and they tell me they indeed do have the money on my account (which was closed, cause i closed it sometime in 2025)
Now i call their phone support and after many phone calls, i get to talk to someone who could actually find the Transaction through the ID that i had provided them with.
They tell me to write an email to Enquiry@Paypal, and give them permission to send the amount, give them my passport and proof of address (where i live currently) I send them every document that is asked of me, and let me just say it took far too long, and it shouldnt have taken this long, at the end of it all i had 35 emails back and forth with Enquiry@paypal.
Now the main problem for was this: I was constantly met with different people who had no clue what my case was about, and i had to explain from the start, i was also met with clashing responses, anything from (We can sadly not do anything since the account is closed) to (This isnt our problem it is the airline) To (Of course we can get you, your money back you do not have to worry about this, now all of the emails were in Danish, but right after i got a response saying (Just send these documents again for the 7th time) Through your new paypal account, cause they asked me to delete my Danish account and make an Austrian one, so they kept telling me to send the documents from the new account, but then i got a response saying i have to send it from my old deleted account (email)
But right after i got the (Dont worry of course we can get your money back (send these documents again bla bla) I did and then the Danish papal from what it looks like redirected me to the Austrian PayPal, now the problem with that is, that my Austrian account was brand new and it had nothing to do with the refund, but regardless they told me to call the Austrian PayPal (And i was adamant about not wanting to do that, because i knew they wouldn't be able to do anything about it) But i called regardless and what do you know, they couldn't do anything about it, since it was a Danish Account.
I then called the Danish phone support for the what seemed like the 60th time, and i said i have tried literally everything that i have been told, and they just keep telling me to send the same documents over and over again, never specifying what the problem with my documents are, the lady on the phone tells me that one of my documents was a screenshot and that isn't allowed apparently (35 emails in no1 told me this)
So she urged me to correct this mistake and message them again, which i did and it didn't do anything, i was then told to call the Irish PayPal in Dublin, which i did.
Here i talked to Jason, and they told me this: Initially i cant see what should be wrong with the documents you have provided? If it stood to me i would refund the money and have this closed right here on the phone, but sadly since they have new rules they couldn't do this.
(i cant see what should be wrong with the documents you have provided? ) THIS PART HERE MADE ME ABSOLUTELY RAGE QUIT by the way. Cause i had send the exact same documents like 10 times+ for 2 weeks. And i was told NO every single time, just for Jason to tell me it shouldnt be a problem.
Jason then filed this with their internal affairs and told me they would personally email me any updates, and that they would check up on it the next day.
In just 25 minutes after that i got the money transferred to my new PayPal account.
It took like a total of 1 month with a mix of messaging the airline and PayPal, but Jason fixed it for me in 30 minutes, one call to Dublin and everything was fine.
Now i obviously dont live in Ireland so i cant say what the Paypal experience is like there, but i can tell you that the Danish Paypal is absolutely terrible and if i could swear i would, cause they caused me nothing but stress/anger/frustration/and problems.
i would give PayPal 0 stars but thanks to Jason i am upping it to (2) stars.

I Had a dispute with a seller and initiated a dispute case. Seller offered a refund if I returned the goods which I accepted. Paypal closed the dispute case in favour of the seller prior to the refund being issued. I am left without goods or refund.
Unfair automated dropdown menu choices
I had a problem with an item received damaged. I had no luck whatsover trying to sort it out with AliExpress, so sought help from PayPal. Firstly, I claimed that it had not been delivered, but it arrived the following day. So I needed to change my claim reason to "item received damaged". However, there was no provision in their dropdown menu for this. So I was forced to choose "item not as expected" (i.e. I did not expect it to arrive broken). The only option for me thereafter was to return the item AT MY COST. There is no option for me to submit any further responses other than to enter the tracking details for its return. So all I can do now is close my claim. I am so angry about this. What I had proposed in the responses I submitted was for me to keep the item, for AliExpress to either arrange to have just the broken plastic part replaced free of charge, or issue a partial refund. That fell on deaf ears!
The other thing I'm not happy with is that Ireland PayPal members receive less benefits than their UK counterparts.
Avoid. Plenty of other safe ways to make payments!
Having used PayPal for a number of years, I will be closing my account. They have made every recent payment & interaction so difficult and convoluted. As soon as I can, I will be closing my account and I will use a virtual, disposable card for online transactions. PayPal is a dinosaur and has become irrelevant.

I’m very disappointed with my recent experience using PayPal for an online purchase. I ordered an item that was not as described and returned it to the seller with a valid postal receipt and tracking number. Despite providing proof of return, PayPal closed the dispute in the seller’s favor simply because the tracking did not update after dispatch.
This means I followed every instruction, returned the product properly, yet still lost both the item and my money. PayPal’s “Buyer Protection” did not protect me at all, and it was nearly impossible to reach a real person to review the case properly.
I expected a fair resolution based on evidence, but instead, I was left frustrated and out of pocket. I’ve since contacted my bank to request a chargeback. I no longer trust PayPal for safe online transactions and would advise other buyers to use their bank’s direct payment methods instead.

I put in two claims for a refund from goodrykl because I didn't recieve my orders. Eventually one order arrived so paypal automatically cancelled the second claim. They won't reply to my messages or acknowledge me whatsoever . They're supposed to be there for the people not scam company's. Everything is a scam these days and paypal are no better

I've moved countries and lost access to my mobile phone number and I cannot access my Paypal account. Even though I have access to the email which is connected to the account and password, there is no way for me to login while skipping the phone number. The "Having trouble logging in button" does not work, its just for decoration. There are no other options to recover my account (what were the point of my security questions??). You can't contact customer service via email/message unless... YOU GUESSED IT... YOU LOGIN TO YOUR ACCOUNT. I've tried to call customer service and after 10 minutes on the phone to a bot which made me enter multiple personal details e.g. phone number, card number, the bot kindly confirmed that the phone lines were closed. I have no way of accessing my Paypal balance. Terrible service.

I said I got sent Call of Duty 2024 instead of Call of duty mw 2019 but they just pretended they saw call of duty and was same item. Despite being different games completely. Very poor experience
I purchased an item online using a gift card and clicked on PayPal to pay for the remaining balance. PayPal took the full amount and I did not authorize this payment. When I contacted customer services they advised me to contact the company who I purchased the items and to cancel the order. This is an issue on PayPal side and not with the store I purchased from. It was a huge inconvenience and I would avoid using it again. From what I can see it is unable to recognise a part payment when using a retailer gift card. It is very a poor service.
