Issues with payment provider, Petbnb not willing to support/intermediate with

I spent about a year trying to publish my profile as a sitter. I've encountered issues with the payment provider, which unfortunately never got resolved. Petbnb's customer support was almost entirely useless for my case, as every time they asked me to contact their payment provider instead. I believe that is a waste of time and adds many more barriers for the platform's users that is not worth the while. I'll try other apps.

I would not recommend this app

I would not recommend this app to anyone! Poor customer service no support at all. This app does not care about your animals and does an extremely poor job screening the actual pet sitters. Your animals will not be cared for properly I have way to many complaints about this app. Do not use petbnb if you value your pet’s health/safety it’s a total scam!!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’ve looked into your case but couldn’t find any record of you or your pets on our platform. According to Trust pilot we see that you are based in the US where Petbnb does not currently operate. Because of this, we believe there may be some confusion.

We take pet safety and sitter quality extremely seriously, and we’re proud that thousands of pet owners have had great experiences with us. You can read many of their verified reviews here:

https://www.petbnb.nl/en/real-customer-reviews

If you did in fact have an experience with us under a different name or account, we’d very much like to look into it further. Please reach out to our support team at hulp@petbnb.nl, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Best regards,
Team Petbnb

So kind and amazing I can't describe

Our cat, Basil is usually very shy with unfamiliar people. With these sitters, he felt right at home. When he encounters people he doesn't expose himself. He normally hides from them.
Basil was able to come out and accept the fact that they would take care of them. This was our first time putting our Basil in someone else's care and we had trust in these sitters. They accept not neutered too! Sent photos which we appreciated. We would definitely leave Basil with them again! You should really leave your pet with them. You will be very satified.

Dilon always takes good care of Amaia even during her challenging days. He sends me updates and respects Amaia’s needs! Amaia loves spending time with Dilon and has fun and lots of cuddles!

Horrible app

Horrible app! The Pawshake is 100times better!

I started searching for oppas for my dog in the area of Utrecht, but without success. I wasn’t able to check on calendar availability of the owners either, because you need to send messages to everyone first to check their availability.
When I finally find a pet sitter, we agreed on meeting up and she proposed me to pay her in cash. Instead, I proposed her to talk via Whatsapp, as the app chat is not very user friendly to have a first meet up.

Straightaway, they block my account and they do not allow me to activate it back again anymore. I contacted the help desk and they showed me a screenshot of our conversation, which they said it is on their terms and conditions that they can monitor conversations (which surprise! you cannot read T&C unless you go to the tab inside the app). Thus, not enough information or hidden terms when signing up!

Pawshake is very different and more open minded than this “starting pet app” their terms and conditions are easily accessible and no one cancelled my account for sharing my WhatsApp number ;)

In short, I don’t recommend this app at all!

Hi

Thanks for your review. Your account was not blocked because you shared your WhatsApp number as we explained to you, it was because you agreed to pay cash, which as stated in the app and in the chat function itself it strictly against our terms and conditions. You also accepted that this was the case via the helpdesk.

These is also a clear warning at the top of each chat which states that payments must go via Petbnb.

Our system monitors messages for abuse or breach of our terms. This is common practice for many apps with messaging systems in order to keep the community safe.

We have no problem with people sharing their numbers as we understand that it can be easier to arrange a meet and greet.

Also the availability of s sitter is clearly visible on their profile and you can always search with dates.

Our terms and conditions are easily accessible on our app and our website.

dog got lost - Petbnb didn't help in any way

They lost my dog. I was on a trip and the petsittter lost my dog for two days.

My dog was luckily found by an amazing group of volunteers. He was found in the street with bruises. The company never asked me how it was going and they charged me the full amount and only paid for half of the vet bills.

Hi Alejandra. Thanks for your review and we appreciate it is a difficult situation but this is not exactly correct.

First of all we are a marketplace. We don't do the sitting and the sitters are not our employees. You chose the sitter and had booked her many times before presumably because you were very happy with her services. As soon as we knew Mochi was missing, we contacted the sitter straight away as soon as we knew and also recommended a group of volunteers for the sitter to contact.

We also wrote to you telling you that we were very happy to hear he was found. We did not charge you the full amount as we aren't the party sitting your pet. As the sitter is not our employee we cannot refund you their money, they must decide to do that.

We earn a small commission from the booking which we will happily repay. For a further refund you will need to contact the sitter directly.

They pretend to give you an insurance

They pretend to give you an insurance, that is basically worthless.
I got injured when I was pulled by a dog I was petsitting. I broke my teeth and glasses, and they didn't cover anything.
Scam company.

Hi Roxana. As we mentioned is our response to you via our helpdesk and as clearly stated on our platform and in our terms, the insurance is sitter liability insurance. This covers a situation for example where a dog in your care causes a serious accident for which you are held liable. We are sorry that you were injured while walking the dog, but as you mentioned the dog was particularly large.

It is up to you to decide as a sitter on the platform whether you want to sit or walk a dog and we strongly suggest that you do a meet and greet and a test walk / stay before accepting.

In the Netherlands, you are required to have medical insurance by law and so that insurance should cover your medical costs.

Too many dogs allowed per pet sitter

I have been looking for sitters on petbnb and I am shocked at how the sitters are allowed to do what they are doing. First of all it says calendar is only an indication and to directly send them request. Many of them show available. So essentially there will be like 10 requests each day and there is no regulation of how many dogs the sitters can take. I visited one sitter and it was sooooo horrible! 5 big dogs plus their own little dog. All in cages. They are let out only for walks. They have small children. Just imagine 6dogs plus 4 people in that house. Dogs are only allowed in the living room. How can petbnb allow this???

Very bad site

Very bad site, support is bad. They don't care about animals only about their own money. Never do business with them again!

Hi, thanks for your message.

Unfortunately we can't find your name in our database of users, to address your specific concerns.

Our primary concern is the safety of pets and the experience of our users.

If users book outside of our site we are not able to provide support and unfortunately the animals will not be covered by our insurance. In addition it allows us to monitor the quality of our sitters through genuine reviews given once a booking is completed.

If you have specific questions, please contact our support desk who will respond promptly

It is all good until you need support

It is all good until you need support. I managed to find a great petsitter for my dog thanks to them, but you are very much out of luck if you need their assistance. They are apparently so afraid of being asked to take responsibility for the service they provide that they essentially dodge or simply refuse to answer simple questions.

Hi Mauricy. Thanks for your message. As we told you in response to your message to our help desk we cannot answer questions about insurance liability because we are not the insurer. The insurance company decides who is liable based on the circumstances.

No-Go. Find better use for your money

It is a pain to find day care on this service. You will make a few requests at the time and place you need only to receive as many rejections. And THAT against the company policy that requires the hosts to block their calendars if they're unavailable (would make contacting them impossible) . If you reach out to the customer service, they shrug their shoulders, Apparently they get salary for being useless to customers with answers that make no difference.
At the end of the day, you've wasted your time on looking and enquiring before being rejected without an explanation or with something like, "I've already got plans".

What's odd is that all that happens to you, and YOU are the one who pays money so that all these disrespectful stakeholders and the business model stay afloat.
Don't waste your time and take your money elsewhere.

Hi Isa. Thanks for your comment. The sitters on our platform are not employees of Petbnb, they are private persons. As we mentioned in our answer, we regularly email sitters to ask them to keep their calendar updated and if they don't or often reject booking requests citing unavailability whereas their calendar says they are available we warn or remove them from the platform.
