Not impressed with this app or the…

Not impressed with this app or the adoption process in general. After my dog of 16 years passed away I tried to find another companion through adoption as there are so many dogs in need of a home. I have had no success, no responses to any inquiries over the dogs I have been interested in.... so looks like I will have to go to a breeder after all.

Got to be a Scam

This site has to be a scam or a front for something else. Nobody ever gets back to you about any animal. You end up waiting for weeks only to find you wasted your time. I think they only want to get your data to resell it of get you onto an email list of never ending next steps.

Saw a picture online of a puppy

Saw a picture online of a puppy, called about the puppy and she said to apply now which I did. I supplied all the information and my vet information. I also called my vet to let them know petfinder was going to call. From what I was told, they had 75 applications which was a lot. I would definitely use petfinder again because of the care they took. My puppy was transported all the way from Texas to Virginia. Wishing all the best in your search!!

This place is worthless

This place is worthless, I tried to get 3 different cats at different places..all responded with, they don't have that cat. Or you live too far away (I live 1 1/2 hour away.) Wad told to find a local shelter. Duh. I did and they don't have any cats. Worthless waist of time and Temu and purina adds in it..scam!

I do not believe Petfinder is a legitimate company. I have applied for several dogs that were listed, but I've always been denied. This for a period of over a year. I do not trust that the dogs listed are really available. Not satisfied with Petfinder and will purchase a dog from a breeder.

Petfinder is NOT Concerned About Helping Rescues Find Homes

Petfinder makes it difficult to impossible to list a foster animal. They make the process so difficult that they frustrate small rescues that are overwhelmed and just trying to help home rescues. We applied and sent every document they required. They take days to respond and then tell you something else you have to do for the process. We gave them our application for adoption which meets all of their requirements and they sent us an email saying our spay neuter policy wasn't good enough. When I replied in frustration and quoted our policy and asked them why they take so long to reply and make the process so difficult, this was their response: "We have determined that your group is not eligible for Petfinder membership at this time. Our Terms of Service state that eligibility for membership is determined at the sole discretion of Petfinder." We expected this response because we finally looked up their reviews because it was such a horrible process for us and their reviews are mostly very bad,

Petfinder company is terrible

Petfinder company is terrible. I told them I wanted this dog, but they didn't care at all. Not helpful at all. A waste of time. They did not give me this dog at all. Terrible service. Terrible way to do business. I will never use this company again. I gave them a zero stars rating. I do not recommend it

I dealt with London Ontario Pet finder

I dealt with London Ontario Pet finder. What a joke. I’ve owned dogs for 50 years and like them more than I like people! I care for my pets as if they were children. Their loyalty you cannot find anywhere else. After a phone interview she called my vet who said I get my dog rabies vaccination every year. I got an insulting email that said I am below their standards so I was denied the 2.5 year old golden retriever I wanted to rescue. Below standards? I asked a vet if all the vaccines they push to shoot into your dog is necessary. He said no. I had a dog die after getting the heart worm shot. I don’t go to dog parks. My dog is never around other dogs. My dog is an indoor dog that goes outside in a big backyard with 7 foot wooden fence all around for play time and toilet time. My last 2 dogs that were 1 and 4 when I adopted them got the mandatory rabies every year because we have raccoons and skunks in the neighbourhood. My dogs were 100 pounds and healthy until age 12. Both got arthritis. I Just had to put my beloved one to rest last month. My point being who are they to pass judgement on someone and say I’m below standards. Absolutely disgusted. And they wonder why the dogs can’t find homes for months. Do not even apply because they are cruel. They give people no choice but to buy puppies from whomever. I am absolutely way above their standards when it comes to my dogs. Shame on them for judging me when they don’t even know me. I feel sorry for the dogs in their care. They herd them like cattle.

Good Intent to Help Pets, But

Good Intent to Help Pets, but the Web Site is not User Friendly. Cannot even locate where to "List a Pet." It's like a Maze. If you can figure it out, Great! If Not, they don't Care.

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I run a responsible, reputable 501(c)(3) rescue out of South and Central Texas. Dogs are dying daily on the streets and in overcapacity animal control facilities. The Petfinder “quality” team decided to disable our account because “ When you became a Petfinder member, you agreed to our Terms of Service and Code of Conduct, which state that your organization may be removed from Petfinder at Petfinder’s sole discretion without advance notice. We have determined your organization is no longer eligible for Petfinder membership.”

That means they don’t have a reason for disabling our account other than someone on the “quality” team felt like disabling it. I have attempted to escalate this matter up to a supervisor within the quality team and have not received any response back.

Our rescue is currently experiencing what we believe to be unjust treatment by a member of the Petfinder quality team. The lack of transparency—both in terms of the decision-maker's identity and the reasoning behind their actions—is deeply concerning and makes it impossible for us to address or resolve the issue effectively. Our rescue depends on Petfinder to be able to adopt out our dogs so that we can continue saving more dogs from overcapacity animal control facilities that euthanize on a regular basis in South and Central Texas. By locking our account and banning us from utilizing Petfinder to post our dogs for adoption, that leaves us in a position where we are forced to close intake and not take in any more dogs into the rescue.

Ultimately, that means the recent actions taken by the quality team are having immediate and life-threatening consequences resulting in outcomes that jeopardize the lives of dogs in animal control facilities at risk of euthanasia that my rescue otherwise had the capability, capacity, and resources to save. I am extremely disappointed and deeply disheartened by how this situation has unfolded. The current lack of communication and accountability from Petfinder is not only unacceptable on a professional level, but it directly conflicts with the collaborative spirit needed to support animal welfare. This situation deserves open, fair communication so that my rescue can get back to doing what matters most — saving dogs' lives.

We’re doing everything we can to advocate for the dogs in our care and for the dogs waiting to be rescued from animal control facilities that will lose their lives due to this decision made by the “quality” team, but without clear communication or a path forward, we’re stuck—and dogs' lives are at risk.

I have respectfully requested that someone in a leadership position within the Petfinder organization reach out to me directly so we can work toward a resolution in a constructive and professional manner, but all of my attempts to get a mere response from the 5+ emails I’ve sent regarding this matter have been ignored.

they come off as a data gathering

they come off as a data gathering, selling site, i reached out to them and Hobo's Home, Inc. on the 18th of last month via the site and hobo's personal email. I did not fill out the application as it wants so much data- data that can be sold. I have even reached out to hobo via facebook... just dont trust these organizations.- they want data not homing of pets.

This is the worst site ever

This is the worst site ever. I specifically filter to a puppy within 100 miles and when I find the one I want, it turns out to be in CO and double the price listed due to transportation. Why did the dog even show up in my search? False information, misleading information and then they don't respond. I'll go to the local pound, thanks,

Was lied to outright

Was lied to outright and also by omission. The rescue people also operate under tax free 501 (c) 3 which is the same tax code crooked politicians use to launder money. Dog was represented as Chihuahua but actually a mini pinscher.

I've been trying to adopt a cat on Petfinders many times now, and never get a response...like a yah or nah.
That's the least they could do. I mean some of these adoption forms are like buying a house in length of time it takes to fill them out. I don't think it's respectful not giving some basic feedback. So I've come to believe that it is a scam!

I think Petfinder is a scam

I think Petfinder is a scam! I tried to contact the shelter where the cat I was interested in was but no answer after numerous tries! I then tried to have Petfinder let me know if the cat was still available two times! The first time they wanted me to pay $1 and the second time they wanted $5 for them to inquire if the cat was still available, which I didn't pay either one of the charges. Needless to say, I am going to try to find a legitimate shelter to adopt from!

Poor service.

I sent an inquiry and an application about a sweet little canine that I feel would've been a perfect fit, considering that I have a 3 bedroom house with a fenced back yard, with no children or other pets. Imagine my heartbreak when after waiting with no response, just by looking at her picture I learned she was adopted out the next day.
I was at work and cried.

Don't fall for this

I have been trying to adopt through Petfinder for 2 YEARS! Every dog I've ever applied for was "already" adopted and unavailable. One rescue was even messaging with me for a week, and then nothing. Then, another rescue texted me about a dog I applied for. They sent me a picture of a dog I never applied for. I asked about the dog I wanted and guess what?! Already adopted! TWO YEARS OF THIS. Unacceptable and giving true rescues a bad name. Petfinder needs to vet these places. Shame on you for being part of the problem instead of the solution.

very difficult to adopt a dog

For years, I tried to adopt instead of purchasing a puppy/dog. I, however, end up buying a puppy from a private source. I have seen the same dogs/puppies from the same shelters for many months, but when I tried to adopt, they all either not responded or made me jumped through many hoops making it almost impossible to adopt one.
