Best There Is, Best There Was, Best There’ll Ever Be

Just finished my 4th camp as an OC, and have loved every one. So unique in their own way, and all are so inspiring. Tools for the game and tools for life. Literally every single director is phenomenal and they cater to all ages. You can’t start too young and you can never be too old. There’s no better camp out there!

Great camp!

My girls had their first day of camp and came home saying it was so fun! They learned a lot about communication, looking up the court, being aggressive offensively, talking loudly :) and being an "A" type player. They watched examples of professionals, practiced the skills, then used it in game play. The camp is what it says it is :) . Great!

Incompetent Staff

I sent 8 players from my team to this camp. I was told that my entire team would be staying in the same pod and was given a confirmation via email that it was all set up. My wife called me during check-in that they had put my son in a different room by himself in a different pod from his teammates. After showing the staff confirmation emails, she was told that it would be fixed that night after registration. It was not fixed because when the staff went to move the two random kids from our team pod to put my son back in there, the kids threw temper tantrums and started crying and the staff left my son in the room by himself. My son not wanting to be alone spent the first two nights of camp sleeping on the couch in the team's pod. No one from PGC called us to tell us they had NOT made the change. So when we spoke to him and he told us he had been sleeping on the couch because he did not get moved we reached out to PGC and they told us it would be handled. Their idea of handling it was to remove another kid from the team pod to room with my son. Making the situation even worse. So instead of honoring what we were told, they felt as the two random kids in the team pod were more important. They said they would keep me informed and did not. Then after the fact they offered me $100 discount the next time I wanted to come. When I threatened to leave a negative review, they offered me a free camp. Why would I come back to this camp, when this is how you treated my son, number 1 and dismissed the fact that I was responsible for sending 8 kids to your camp and two random kids were treated better? Why did I have to threaten to leave a bad review to be taken seriously? If I told you I would never attend another camp, why do you think a free camp would entice me? My son was also sprayed in the face with Lysol and he reported it to a counselor and nothing happened (he could have been seriously and/or permanently injured)... they're lucky a negative review is the only thing they are receiving and not a lawsuit from my attorney.

William,

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback from the camp. I'm sorry to hear about all that you and your son experienced, especially in light of you bringing 8 players to the camp. I can certainly understand your frustration and disappointment. It seems clear that we dropped the ball on multiple fronts, and for this I apologize.

I will personally look into this matter to identify why these gaps may have taken place and to determine how we can prevent them going forward.

Sincerely,

Safe. Full Immersion. Game Changer.

My son is going to the 7th grade and he was most concerned about feeling safe. All of the coaches gave us warm welcomes as entered the first day and he immediately felt at home. He loved that he had a key access to his room and a private place to shower. Other than that, the camp was exactly what he needed. It stretched him beyond his limitations because he has never been fully immersed for 12-14 hour days before. This upcoming basketball season, I expect to see more leadership, higher energy from tip off, better decision making and better use of his dribble.

I loved the atmosphere of the camp

I loved the atmosphere of the camp. The positive energy given to the kids. The way the coaches created an atmosphere of CHIN UP!! Made a bad shot Chin Up. Made a bad pass Chin Up!!

Everything here was done with excellence. Well worth the money. Thankful I had the opportunity to be here and experience it with my daughter.

False advertising

I am a disappointed parent... The marketing of this camp makes you think it is fine for advanced players but it is too basic for a kid who already plays in a travel club. I signed him up for Point Guard College, but he said it was basic drills, and got bored. I wish they did not present this camp as if your advanced player would learn to excel. It is an expensive camp. Just say it is for beginners to mid level players. It feels like something close enough to scam.

Hi Amparo,

Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed by the experience.

Unfortunately, we occasionally get this type of feedback for our Point Guard College course. And, nearly 100% of the time, it's a younger player who feels the content is too basic or boring. The older, more experienced, high school varsity players, college players (including D1 All-Americans), and the thousands of high school coaches who attend the course consistently find it to be game-changing.

The more experience a player has in the game, the more they get out of the course because of the depth of the material being taught. And, the vast majority of players find they need to return multiple times to grasp and apply all the teachings. Younger players struggle to grasp the nuance and value of the intangibles, or of the significance of the finer points of the game, and chalk it up to being "basic" or "boring."

That's why we get Money-Back Guarantee requests from 9th and 10th graders each year, yet *none* from high school seniors or college players.

We haven't found a solution to this, except to strongly recommend players attend our Playmaker College or Scoring College first so they're more prepared for the Point Guard College course.

Sincerely,

Mano Watsa, PGC President & Owner

Discipline

Pgc shares good information and has great drills. But the thing I love most about Pgc is they demand what they ask to be done. A kid cannot attend a camp without getting better to some extent because of that.
