PieFace is an "Australian" service…

PieFace is an "Australian" service station franchise. Their big selling point is, perhaps obviously, the pies. The pies are not good. Unidentified meat slopped into an obviously frozen pie crust that is dry and rock solid at the corners. If you buy a large pie the entire case is larger but it doesn't actually look like there's extra filling. It's literally just half filled and inflated with air like a bag of chips. The gravy is made from some mystery mix of spices that isn't suited to the European palette at all. Generally when you buy a pie you know it's going to be in the neighborhood of the same flavor. Not the case here. There is one pie type that is barely passable and that's the Cottage Pie, made from beef ground so thin and spread so fine it illicits the idea of rat meat, and some unidentified flavour in the gravy.

I have 4 service stations within walking distance of my house. In most cases, I would just prefer a four and twenty pie from the hot box at any of the other three service stations than a pie from pie face. It happens to be the second closest, and since the Reddy near me isn't 24 hours, it's simply the closest place to eat, especially on a late night. The only other thing worth looking at in the entire hotbox is the Bacon and Cheese Sausage roll, which doesn't taste like a sausage roll somehow even though every single sausage roll tastes identical, but it's fine.

Otherwise, exhorbitantly high prices, with every product I could find being a minimum of 50cents more expensive than the place down the road. Locations are often far larger than required, neccessitating the need to stock items that will never be sold and lump that failure onto the consumer. While companies like 7Eleven are offering PIZZA and fried chicken in their hotbox, this company's product has declined into thousands of frozen pie bases in a factory somewhere getting the mold cut off them and then slopped full of a half serve of filling.

The only reason I give a second star is because the service at my local store is really good. The workers know me as a local, say hello, ask about my day, ect. They're generally lovely people and it doesn't feel great criticizing things that they probably can't control and are lumped on them by corporate.
