Scam

Scam, renewed my subscription without telling me, would not give refund, inflexible customer service despite me not using the service

We’re sorry to hear about your frustration, but we’d like to clarify how subscriptions work. A subscription, by definition, renews automatically unless it is canceled. This is clearly stated during checkout and in our the terms of service. Additionally, a renewal notification is always sent to the email address associated with the account before the charge is made, so users are informed in advance. If you only need the service for a short period, you can cancel the subscription at any time to prevent renewal. Even if you forget to cancel, you can reach out to our support team for a review and, when appropriate, they will cancel the subscription and issue a refund for you. We do not renew subscriptions “without telling users,” and we do not aim to be inflexible. We encourage anyone with an issue to contact support directly so it can be reviewed and resolved properly.

Unusable

Used to be a very usable (and useful) site in the past - No more. They keep cramming new captchas and paywalls into this all the time, while removing core functionalities along the way. It's gotten so bad it won't even let you pre-evaluate the results properly anymore before deciding to buy them, you get maybe 1 pixelated thumbnail at best before the paywall popup kicks in. They're obscuring EVERYTHING from the source URL to the actual thumbnails themselves now, took the site owner less than 2 years to turn this from a 100% useful tool into a garbage gamble for at least one semi-useful result. There are better search engines of this kind available at this point that don't pester the user with paywalls at every turn. Really sad what's happened to Pimeyes, they fully sold out to commercial interests and decided to screw their users over in the process

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and we’re sorry to hear about your frustration. To clarify one important point first: captchas are a security measure used to protect users and the platform from abuse, automated scraping, and malicious activity. When captchas appear repeatedly, this is most often caused by the use of a VPN, proxy, or IP address with a poor reputation. Using PimEyes without a VPN typically results in far fewer (or no) repeated captcha challenges. Regarding previews and paywalls, PimEyes is a search engine that processes and analyzes large amounts of data, which comes with significant operational and legal costs. For that reason, full result details (such as unblurred thumbnails and source URLs) are available only after purchase. Limited previews are intentionally provided so users can see whether results exist before deciding to unlock them. This structure has not been designed to “trick” users, but to balance transparency, sustainability, and compliance obligations. We understand that changes over time may feel restrictive compared to earlier versions of the service. However, no core functionality has been removed for paying users, and we continue to invest in security, accuracy, and user protection — especially given the sensitive nature of facial search technology. That said, we take criticism seriously. If you experienced specific technical issues, excessive captchas without using a VPN, or believe something did not work as intended, we encourage you to contact our support team directly so we can review your case.

Long series of captchas makes search impossible!

Trying to find a face, I turned to PimEyes, as it was recommended. However, before even able to search for a photo that I uploaded, I had to go through a really never ending series of captchas. So in the end I couldn't use their servicxe at all.
What a disaster!

In your reaction you say that it could be caused when:
- using a VPN which I do not
- using a PROXY which I do not
- my IP has bad reputation;
since I never experience issues, I
guess my IP has not been blacklisted

We’re sorry to hear about your experience. Captcha checks are a security measure used to protect the platform from abuse and automated traffic. When captchas appear repeatedly or feel “never-ending,” it is most commonly caused by the use of a VPN, proxy, or an IP address with a poor reputation. In such cases, the system increases verification to keep the service secure. Using PimEyes without a VPN and from a standard residential network usually resolves this issue and allows searches to work normally. If captchas persist even without a VPN, our support team can review the situation and help.

PimEyes is a search engine that indexes publicly available images at the time they are discovered. In some cases, source pages may later be removed, restricted, moved, or temporarily unavailable by the website owner, which can result in errors when opening the URL. This is outside of PimEyes’ control and does not mean the result was invalid at the time it was indexed. We do not host the images or manage third-party websites, and availability of source pages can change at any time. If you believe a specific result is incorrect or encountered a technical issue with your purchase, you can contact our support team with the order details so we can review the case.

The captcha has made the site nearly unsable

The experience has gotten sooo bad with the new captcha. You spend 80% of your time fiddling with a captcha system that keeps breaking and removving your photo so you have to start again and again. I've had to look for alternatives. The product has become so annoying, especially when you pay for it.

Captcha checks are a security measure designed to protect the platform from abuse, automated scraping, and malicious activity, and to keep the service reliable for all users. In most cases, excessive or repeated captchas are triggered by factors such as VPN usage, proxy connections, unusual traffic patterns, or browser configurations that make normal verification difficult. When these factors are present, the system may reset the session, which can feel disruptive. That said, captchas are not intended to interfere with legitimate use, and they are not meant to penalize paying users. If captchas appear excessively, we strongly recommend disabling VPNs or proxies, clearing browser cache/cookies, and using a standard browser configuration, which typically resolves the issue. We appreciate the feedback and take it seriously. Platform usability and stability are important to us, and we continuously review our security systems to balance protection with a smooth user experience.

Charged again by mistake — contacted PimEyes twice for a refund, still waiting for reply

I was charged again on 7 October 2025 after leaving PimEyes auto-renew on by mistake. I haven’t used their service at all since that renewal, so I submitted a refund request through their official support page shortly after the charge, but never received any reply or confirmation.

I’ve now sent a formal follow-up email (mid-October 2025) explaining the situation, but I’m still waiting for any acknowledgement or refund. For a company that handles sensitive facial-recognition data, this lack of communication is extremely worrying.

For anyone in the UK, it’s worth knowing that under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you are legally entitled to a refund for digital services you haven’t used, even if payment has already been taken. PimEyes should be honouring this, yet they have completely ignored every message so far.

I’ll update this review if they finally respond or process the refund. Until then, I strongly suggest turning off auto-renew immediately and being cautious before subscribing.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand why this situation has been frustrating. All subscriptions on PimEyes are recurring by default, which means they renew automatically unless canceled. A renewal notice is always sent to the email address associated with the account before the charge is processed, specifically to avoid unexpected renewals. That said, if a renewal occurred by mistake and the service was not used after the charge, our support team can review the account and, where applicable, cancel the subscription and process a refund. We do take communication seriously, especially given the sensitive nature of the service, and it’s not our intention for any request to go unanswered. In some cases, replies may be delayed due to high request volumes or messages not reaching us correctly. We encourage you to contact support again via the official support page or by replying to the confirmation email associated with your purchase, making sure to include the email address used for the subscription and the order or invoice number. This will allow us to locate the account quickly and resolve the matter.

PimEyes does not guarantee the presence of specific results, as the system only indexes publicly available online content — not private or restricted sources. The subscription tiers differ by features and access limits, not by altering the core search algorithm. If you believe something went wrong with your subscription or access, please share your order reference and payment email so we can review your case in detail. Our team is always willing to assist and clarify any misunderstandings.

Results are useless. Paid the highest tier to see if deep searching did any better and it did not. Very rarely get a result. Overall pretty useless service and regret paying for it.

PimEyes searches only publicly available images on the open web, and not private databases or social media platforms — this means that search results depend on what is actually visible online at the time of your search. The higher-tier plans, such as Advanced, do not change the quality of search algorithms but provide broader functionality and increased limits. If you believe there’s been an error or would like us to review your case, please share your order reference number and the email used for payment, and we’ll gladly investigate further.

CAPTCHAs are a security measure used to protect the platform from abuse and automated activity. They are not tied to payment status and cannot be disabled per account. In most cases, repeated or frequent CAPTCHAs are triggered by VPNs, proxies, or network configurations that appear high-risk to our security systems. We do not charge users “to solve CAPTCHAs,” and the payment is for access to search results and features. However, we acknowledge that excessive CAPTCHA prompts can negatively affect usability, and this feedback is taken seriously as we continue refining our security systems. If you are using a VPN, we strongly recommend disabling it and trying again, as this usually reduces or eliminates repeated CAPTCHA challenges.

No access...no support

Consistently have to go through two captcha processes that effectively block access to site. Contacted customer service three times with no response. It is not worth paying $400 per month if you cannot access or get support. Strongly advise against subscribing

CAPTCHAs are a mandatory security measure designed to protect the platform from automated abuse and cannot be disabled on individual accounts. When they appear repeatedly, it is most often caused by VPN usage, proxies, corporate networks, or IP addresses flagged as high-risk by our security systems. In these cases, the CAPTCHA frequency can increase regardless of subscription tier. Disabling VPNs or switching to a standard residential network usually resolves this. Regarding support, we acknowledge that delayed responses are not acceptable. All support requests are reviewed, but during high-volume periods response times can be longer than intended. The subscription fee covers access to search features and tools, not exemption from security checks. That said, feedback like yours is important and is shared internally to improve both usability and support responsiveness. If you are still experiencing access issues, we recommend reaching out again with details about your network setup (VPN, corporate firewall, etc.), as this is typically the root cause.

We’re sorry to hear you feel this way and understand how frustrating a poor experience can be. PimEyes is a search engine, not a content provider, and the results shown depend entirely on what exists on the public internet at the time of the search. Paying for access unlocks visibility and tools, but it does not guarantee specific results or outcomes. We aim to be transparent about how the service works and what it can and cannot provide. If something did not work as expected or you encountered a technical issue, our support team is available to review your account and clarify what happened.

PimEyes is a search engine and does not host or control external websites. In some cases, links may no longer work because the source website has removed the content, restricted access, or gone offline after the image was indexed. Unfortunately, this is outside of our control and does not mean the service itself failed or was fraudulent. That said, we do want to review your case properly. Please reply with: 1) The email address used for the purchase 2) The specific PimEyes search URL you unlocked . Once we have these details, we can check whether there was a technical issue with your order or access and advise you accordingly.

this site is horrible

this site is horrible. i reverse searched a clear image of myself and it just shows people who arent me. i tried it with a photo of myself without glasses, and the SECOND RESULT is a photo of a GIRL RUBBING HERSELF FULLY NUDE, and the "privacy" censor to hide other peoples' faces censors JUST HER FACE and NOT HER TITS OR PVSSY. I AM USING A SCHOOL COMPUTER FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. IT SAID MY FACE LOOKS LIKE A GIRL TOUCHING HERSELF. AM I THAT CHOPPED???????

Waste of money.

I am a victim of stalking trying to locate photos of myself. I know my stalker is posing as me online. I also know there are photos of me on various websites of the organisations I work with and news articles I have been featured in. Not a single photo of myself has come up, even when I've used the exact photos I know are already online. I paid in the hope I would be able to keep searching and find more but I got nothing. It also claims to be $29.99 but then charges me $36.99. oh and half the time I try to upload a photograph of myself I get a black box with the words 'unlicensed pintura instance' written on it, whatever that means. I tried a different service which found results.

ETA the company flagged this review as defamatory. I think that says everything.
