ForestFest 2024.

ForestFest 2024.

I opted for a 2 man bell tent for ForestFest.

The tent was fine, but the pricing was baffling. It came with a double air bed and black bag for refuse. Tents were cheaper with full bedding 🤷. Other bell tents had bedding, mats, some basic furniture, but not sure how they were booked.

The facilities were substandard.

The toilets were portaloos and disgusting. I can't emphasize this enough. The smell was warning enough to stay away by the Saturday morning. It didn't get better, despite servicing.

The showers were very poorly serviced.

Carparking was a disaster, but perhaps not their fault

I did see security guards, but I saw zero security checks, I certainly never had my armband checked, so anyone had access. Might explain, in part, the shower queues from 7am.

The facilities in the free campsite were better, and cleaner (less stinky anyway), and it left me wondering what on earth I paid for.

We splashed out on a yurt for Beyond…

We splashed out on a yurt for Beyond the Pale 2024, and we wish we hadn't. The tent itself was ok, but we had to wait an hour in the rain to check in, apparently because of staffing issues. Our bags would have been soaked if one of us didn't haul them over to a friend's tent in general camping. For the amount of money we paid, we expected a far better service.

As well as that, the services advertised such as real toilets, were substandard. The toilets were unusable and sealed off by Saturday morning because they didn't flush properly, and the regular portaloos were cleaned so infrequently that people felt it was more hygienic to use the fence nearby.

It's very disappointing because this was supposed to be a special experience for us and it was a waste of money.
