Joseph Crapanzano (PlatesHub AKA La Panzano) defrauded a small non-profit and refuses to refund the money!
We booked PlatesHub AKA La Panzano to provide food for our organization's event. The owner, Joseph Crapanzano, assured us that he would provide high-quality food and excellent service. However, our experience with Mr. CrapanzanoPlatesHub was nothing short of terrible.
On the day of the event, Mr. Crapanzano did not show up in person. Instead, he sent a single staff member who arrived late and unprepared. The staff member did not wear gloves when preparing the food, and several guests complained about the lack of sanitary conditions.
Additionally, the staff member did not bring plates, silverware, napkins, or serving utensils. The food that was served was not what we had ordered.
Per our WRITTEN agreement, Mr. Crapanzano was to provide staffing to support "stationary & tray passed apps" and a menu that included:
· Artisan Cheese / Charcuterie Board
· Exotic Fruit board
· Assorted Italian Antipasto
· Assorted Grilled Balsamic Veggies
· Mini Beef Wellington
· Brie & pear Purse
· Sicilian Rice Balls
· Mini Chicken & Waffle
· Grilled Asian Chicken Skewer
· Korean Beef Skewer
· Mozzarella Caprese Skewer
· Assorted French and Italian petite pastries
· Assorted Cookie Board
· Mini Key Lime bites
· Mini Fresh on Site Sugar Doughnuts
Instead of the delicious menu that we had selected, Mr. Crapanzano provided a "grazing table" which was basically a gigantic charcuterie tray.
When the board president contacted Mr. Crapanzano to complain, he was unapologetic and refused to take responsibility for his company's failure to deliver on its promises. He blamed the staff member and initially refused to send a refund. He later promised that he would send a refund, but NO REFUND has ever been sent or received. We are very disappointed with Mr. Crapanzano and would not recommend him or his MANY business aliases to anyone.
Here are some of the specific problems we experienced with Mr. Crapanzano:
- Mr. Crapanzano did not show up in person for the event, despite communicating the night before the event that he would be there.
- The food that was served was not what we had ordered.
- Mr. Crapanzano sent inadequate staffing for the event. (he sent ONE PERSON!)
- The staff member who was sent did not wear gloves when preparing the food in FULL view of the guests (including two professional chefs one of whom confronted the staff member about not wearing gloves)
- The staff member did not bring plates, silverware, napkins, or serving utensils.
- Mr. Crapanzano was unapologetic and refused to take responsibility for his company's failure to deliver on its promises.
- Mr. Crapanzano lies repeatedly and refuses to refund the money back - his actions are that of a dishonest charletan and not of a business man
We would not recommend Mr. Crapanzano to anyone as he clearly has no conpunction about defrauding a non-profit organization and he has no conpunction about lying and deceptive business practices.
BTW, despite Mr. Crapanzano and his shenanigans, our event was AWESOME because we ROSE above his poor execution and business practices! Trust and believe our guests know who was responsible for the food failure!
