Playstation Network Blackmail

My son got a game for Christmas with a code to download additional content which did not work.

As he was upset, we opted to pay for this and again this did not work. We reached out to the Playstation Network, but could only speak to an unhelpful AI agent.

As we paid money and didn't receive any goods or services, we are protected and able to clawback that money via our credit card due to the Playstation Networks failure to provide the goods or services with not attempt on their part to help.

This has now resulted in our Playstation Network account being suspended and that suspension will only be lifted should we reverse the clawback of give them back the money.

There is no way to view this other than blackmail and disgusting customer service. After being a user of Playstation since the PS1, we'll be moving over to XBox.

Customer support that protects profits, not players

I used to trust PlayStation as a premium platform, but my experience with their customer support completely changed that perception.

In my case, support was polite but largely ineffective. Problems were handled with scripted replies and rigid rules instead of real solutions. The refund policies sound fair on paper, but in practice they are full of gray areas and are always interpreted in PlayStation’s favor.

When something doesn’t work as expected, the customer is the one who pays the price. Time, frustration, and loyalty don’t seem to matter. Even reasonable alternatives, such as store credit, are not considered.

Overall, I’m left with the clear impression that PlayStation prioritizes protecting its revenue over providing a fair, customer-focused experience. Once the payment goes through, customer satisfaction becomes secondary.

From the way the orcastrate their code of conduit policies to the customer service they provide.

Honestly save up and get a PC.

Bought a psvr2 from Argos for my sons christmas present, lasted 2 weeks before the left controller stopped working (won't charge) playstation support are only open when i am working, the online repair request doesn't list the problem so can't book a repair online, Argos made it clear its not their problem and even seemed happy i left their store with my 7 year old in floods of tears, would never have gone back to playstation if my son hadn't wanted a ps5 so badly, definitely won't be replacing my xbox with Sony trash, absolutely disgusting the poor build quality and lack of customer service from Sony and Argos.

PlayStation live chat are useless

PlayStation live chat are rude and unhelpful. Blunt responses and can’t even get their information correct.
I sent my controller in for repair on 2/1/25 it arrived at PlayStation centre 4/1/25 and was told it got to the repair centre at 7/1/25 okay that’s all fine.
Next step I get an email saying it’s been dispatched to me 9/1/25 saying it’s with DPD but with a Royal Mail tracking number? Anyway I put the tracking number in Royal Mail says oops try again tomorrow so I have been doing that since 9/1/25 up until yesterday (15/1/25) so I decided to speak to live chat. Useless, rude and unhelpful in every way. I said your email states with DPD but it’s Royal Mail tracking number. Jenny said it’s DPD, I said it ends in GB it’s a Royal Mail tracking number, she said she will look into and said yes it is Royal Mail and it is with the courier I said can you send me the tracking number then as mine doesn’t show it at Royal Mail so she sent me the tracking number I used to send it??? I said that’s the one I got when I sent it off and said oh can you give me the one you got, I said yeah she then said yeah that’s right it’s with the courier I said it doesn’t work it’s not with them because it keeps saying try again tomorrow. I said well what do I do if it doesn’t update or turn up and she just said it’s with the courier again (grr). So I said okay I will give it until next Friday and will contact you again just incase Royal Mail haven’t scanned it in their system (never had this problem with Royal Mail before but could be a first time) Then she said it is with the courier is that all today and ended the chat. I wish I hadn’t have bothered sending it for repair now and just went to a 3rd party repair. I will never use PlayStation repairs again. I’m convinced it’s lost and they don’t want to do anything about it. It is a chroma dual sense so not cheap as they’re slightly more expensive than the standard ones! I will be escalating if I don’t get it by the end of next week. If it was with Royal Mail I would not be here waiting 7 days later undelivered and tracking not updating on their system.

Worst customer service

Worst customer service. Mid customer service chat, if you can't see a positive outcome the will flood the chat with "is there anything else I can help you with?" Mid conversation. I'm still talking and they just want to end the chat. I purchased something in error, I already had the item, I did not download it but I played what I already had, she said because I had it, and opened it, I can't get a refund. What was tw*at of a customer service. And their complaint is only my post. What a joke.

If I could rate it zero stars I would. Its basically impossible to chat to anyone from this company for support. The only support you will get is a BOT/Call centre employee that immediately hangs up on you after pasting the same link over and over again. Absolute horse shit, selling games that don't work at full cost and the passing the blame so you are in an infinite loop between companies that blame each other. Completely let down by a company that I have spent a small fortune on over the years and the fact that the customer service is Monday to Friday is also big fat donkey balls.

Horrible Customer Service...

My playstation account got perm banned all because someone was cussing me out through PSN messages, and i responded back and I'm the one that gets banned. I explained many times to them but they don't seem to care. It's really sad that I had my account for over ten years and everything is now gone. All of my digital downloads, data, etc. I don't even want to get on my Playstation anymore. I almost feel like selling my console and move to xBox or PC. I don't remember PSN being very sensitive on messages. They claim it was a moderator that chose to get me banned, I am 99% sure that the Moderator is an AI bot that detects certain words. I've done everything from calling PS multiple times all the way to making a complaint on BBB. I said " Please show me what i said that was wrong " they told me "I violated the code of conduct" That is a great reason... (sarcastically) They can't even explain anything.

Worst customer service

Worst customer service! I bought a game and wanted to have it refunded, as my son did not want it. The only way to get in touch with them is through their support chat, which takes an hour of waiting, while continuing to hit a button on the chat stating that "I am still here" so the chat does not end.

I finally chatted with the agent, who said that no refund could be processed. I contested this and asked to speak to a supervisor. They refused and asked if there was something else or they would end the chat. I said, "Please do not end the chat, I need to speak with a supervisor."

At that, they ended the chat! There is no option given, simply a blank screen saying "your chat has ended." Then their chatbot will not allow you to talk to anyone again about this. I attempted multiple times over days, but could not discuss the matter with anyone else.

From there, I disputed the charge on my card. However, in a retalitory policy, PlayStation then suspended my account, saying that I now had access to a game that I did not pay for. However, the suspension also took away all access to games that I have paid for with many upgrades over the course of years.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and told PlayStation about this complaint when I finally got an email about them suspending my account.

After PlayStation's review, the only resolution they offer is for me to buy a gift card then apply the card to my "negative account balance."

Beyond the fact that I don't want the game, and simply wanted a refund, they make you buy a gift card for more than you actually "owe" them. (they only allow gift card purchases in preset amounts)

This is essentially PlayStation holding your account hostage until you pay what they demand. Absolutely terrible customer service!!! If you are between Xbox and PlayStation, go with Xbox.

an hour to chat to angent that absolutely refused to help. I cannot access the email i registered with as the company went bust. Thats not my fault. Agent closes the call.

After extensive searching for my old console serial (why??) they refused to accept it was correct. After numerous atempts, they kept insisting my details werent correct and demanded a transaction ID from my "Wallet". but they know that you have to log in with the defunct email to retrieve that data. Agent closes the call.

a catch 22 that means i can never use my account on a new console. And the money i still have in it. Agent closes the call.

Honestly don't bother wasting your time and money. The way they deal.with reports are a absolute joke. They don't check the ones you do but by gosh you say the word "terrible" or ask someone to politely leave the team so you and a friend can be on a team oh no they ban you. And when you get the ban you lose access to stuff YOU pay for so wanna continue playing that game... nope you can't because you don't own it despite putting in your money... and as for the services when you call them hahahahaha don't bother they are useless and meaningless they are rude and do not care at all... honestly go join xbox live the staff actually care and are worth something because by God PlayStation.... they need to rework themselves

I bought a game since a sale just…

I bought a game since a sale just started so I figured it wasn't going to go on sale, so I bought it full price. Went on a couple hours later after all other games listed for no reason. I contacted support and just asked for the difference in credit. They sent me the return policy (that didn't cover this issue) and said they cant issue a refund. I said I wasn't asking for a refund. They said "I'm afraid I'll have to close this question." That's like hanging up the phone on me. I've given them a lot of money, so I had some choice words for them. It's a shame Microsoft is terrible as well.

Worst Customer Service Experience I’ve Ever Had!

I would give it 0 stars if I could. PSN has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They force you to use their online chat system. Most of the time it says its too busy to use. If you are able to get through, the chat line is 150 long, and they make you confirm you're still waiting every two minutes. When I got through the agent asked me for things that made no sense, they asked what is my transaction number. Transaction number for what? They asked for the serial number to my PS5 and when I gave it to them, they said they I dont have the right information and ended the chat abruptly after trying to get ahold of them for 2-hours. After two days its still not resolved. Absolutely horrible!
