I've got numerous plumbers merchants around me and went to Plunbbase Basildon because they were the closest. I only wanted a radiator bleed valve, nothing technical. I was told they don't stock them because they cone in many sizes 😀

I recently went to Plumbase Warrington to check prices of bathrooms and radiators. I was helped by Katie And David Lucas. Very courteous and welcoming. Had patience with us. Then after I received the price I told them that it is above my budget. He was very happy to see what he could do and managed to bring the entire budget as per my requirement . I am now waiting for the delivery which was promised to arrive this Thursday.

So a medium skilled engineer, worked out all the math, knew what was needed drawn, together with rough quotes of parts neede to achieve a new hot water potable immersion tank in our granny annex, ( a duplicate lesser size of the joule upstairs that I will have to move soon) I even stated all the parts, they provided a written quote seemed fair, I stupidly accepted as it seemed reasonable, I accepted a box of bits and a very light tank which come out different from the printed quotation I have (stainless steel). It was More expensive. It was 20 quid difference, still seemed all ok. Until taken home and started to see what I was given was totally different to what I asked for. I started fitting it,(vented cheap copper tank) and almost realized the immersion tank was vented should of been an unvented. Despite explaining I wanted a prescribed 3bar vent valve and califi monobloc. I got a headache of useless leaking bits. So I took it back today for a refund, I was told sorry tough. No refund your fault, for fitting it.
I left a £ 173 useless blown tank near there back door which is where it can be placed up!. So guys if you want to try and resolve an use experts behind the skilled counter staff, forget using this bury st Edmunds depot and the manager was just as useless because he was in ear shot when I went in an explained what I wanted to achieve originally . I'm no idiot as I had to finish some major plumbing jobs as most local tradesmen are all pretty damn lazy and useless around here on our farm. I had to finish our 125sqm of uhf and 2500litre froling biomass log burner system as the installers cocked that up too. So I'm no idiot and won't be using these guys ever.

Plymton. We bought 2 new heated towel rails. They were delivered and looked good from the outside. The plumber fitted them told us the threads didn't look great thinking we had bought second hand and showed us a photo. We had to get them replaced as they were indeed previously used. Plumbase replaced them but refused to reimburse us for having to call out the plumbers again, drain the system and replacing the inhibitor. When they were removed dark sludge came out. This was a brand new system. All they offered was a discount if we wanted to buy more from them. Does that sound like good service?

Plumbase was recommended to me by my builder Mike Shaw. Chester store were helpful helping my choose my fittings and even opened up on a stock taking day to accommodate me. All items supplied are excellent quality and well worth the money. All are priced very reasonably. I would definitely use Plumbase again.

I was surprised how unknowledgable the shop staff are when it comes to plumbing, they are basically just counter staff and everything is on display so you have to find it yourself. So ok they are not plumbers but if I worked in a plumbing shop I would make sure that I knew everything that there to know about my stock. But this is the same with Toolstation the staff behind the counter know zero about their products. Sign of the times I suppose they might as well have robots or an autoserve unstaffed shop.
Great until there is an issue
Started off well as they got us a bathroom suite quickly. When it was delivered not all the individual boxes were listed on the delivery note so they weren’t checked. A box was missing we noticed a few days later when the plumber went to fit it. Plumbase said that as we had signed for it it must have been delivered. We had to pay to replace it. When the plumber was fitting it the bathroom he noticed a small manufacturing defect in the gloss top of the toilet into (the 2nd one we paid for) and deep scratches in the tap. We knew we would have had to wait for a replacement but were desperate for the bathroom so asked them to fit and we would contact Plumbase and send them the damage photos. Plumbase will not replace them and have said that yet again we’ve got to pay.

Great customer service
My Myson towel warmer (the 'Angara' model) broke it's wall brackets and I were given a major run-around by Myson's parent company (Purmo) who recommended various plumbing and building suppliers none of whom could be bothered to respond.
The exception was the assistant manager at your Ashton, Winterstoke Road branch who went out of his way to help. Despite supplying multiple photographs and descriptions, the component kit recommended by Purmo Group UK was incorrect, as was the second ordered sample when we suspected that a picking error must have occurred.
In the end your excellent and very personable assistant manager (Mr A.B) was unable to source the right parts for me. Nevertheless, he was the only person who bothered to help at all and I am extremely impressed and grateful for his efforts.
I made my own brackets in the end but I would head straight to your store for future needs.
