Be careful

A miscommunication ended with me being billed £117 unexpectedly. I thought a plumber was coming to quote for rectifying an issue we had, however, Plumbcraft billed me their call out fee plus first half hour and vat. Had it had been made clear, I would have questioned it and cleared the miscommunication up beforehand. They did email their price structure over, but I thought this was for if I went ahead with the work. The service I got I certainly don’t feel warrants £117, the plumber must have thought it was the easiest money the company had made. The plumber turned up, said what he’d do, and said he would send a quote. We’ve had a number of trades look at work in our house recently, none billed us for this.
I was surprised by the customer service reaction, reputation is so important. After receiving the invoice over 2 weeks after the visit, I rang Plumbcraft to speak to someone about it and soon saw where the miscommunication was. Good customer service would have been listening to the issue and putting the customer first. However, I was talked over repeatedly and there was little understating from their end. Eventually they did say they would knock £39 off if I went ahead with the quoted works, but given my experience I was reluctant to go with them. Instead, I asked someone else to look at the issue, who quoted cheaper and didn’t charge me to look at the job! Guess who got the work. Have I had received better customer service, they would probably have got the work. Personally I’ll avoid them in future. If you want to get them to look at some work, confirm in writing if it’s charged for beforehand.

A little bit of honesty and integrity on your part wouldn’t go a miss. Over the last 18 months you /your wife have called Plumbcraft to your property on 3 separate occasions to give you advice and quote for work. On the first 2 occasions you told us that you just wanted a quote. That’s fine everyone understands the situation and a free quote was provided. However, on the third occasion you booked us in for a job; "to trace and remove a blind end of pipe that you thought posed a risk of legionnaires disease". That is not a free quote. It is a request for a plumber’s time to diagnose and fix a problem, which you would be expected to pay for. However, after he told you what needed to be done you changed your mind and asked us just to quote for the work instead. We provided the quote and you decided to do the work yourself. We sent an invoice for the time we had already spent at your property as per the rates you confirmed you received in advance. You then contacted us to say that you didn’t think you should have to pay for the plumbers time. You also told us that your occupation is property maintenance and in fact plumbing is a service you provide to your customers and charge them for! Clearly you have no intention of ever proceeding with any work from us - you just want to use us as free advice service so you can use our expertise to tell you how to do the work yourself. You also admit that you keep doing the same thing to other tradespeople too.
Had you been honest and upfront in the first place we would not have visited your property and in that circumstance you would not have received an invoice. As gesture of goodwill we offered a credit towards further work. However it is clear you do not appreciate that because you never had any intention of paying us to do any work for you.

Awful customer service

Awful customer service. Plumbers that do not know what they are doing. Hidden and excessive costs. Management/owners dreadful to deal with. Avoid.

Plumbcraft are my go to for home improvements

Plumbcraft have been my go-to team for all things plumbing, heating, and home improvement and for good reason! Over the years, they’ve helped design and fit our kitchen, 3 of our bathrooms, plus the downstairs toilet. I love quirky, individual designs, and they’ve supported me every step of the way from sourcing unique products to fitting them perfectly. They’re not just “yes” people either; if something I’ve wanted wouldn’t quite work in the space, they’ve taken the time to explain why and come up with clever, stylish alternatives that suit both form and function.

They also fitted my kitchen floor, which was no small task, especially as it felt like it took forever to find the perfect tile! But their patience never wavered, and the end result is just what I had in mind.

Beyond the big projects, they’re also my trusted boiler service firm and have installed many a radiator around the house. Whether it’s a full refit or a routine service, the level of care, quality, and attention to detail is consistently outstanding.

What really sets Plumbcraft apart is the people. From the office team to management to the guys on the tools, everyone is welcoming, knowledgeable, and always happy to help, no matter how silly my question might be! Every interaction is friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful.

Fabulous service all round, I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Stunning bathroom

I am absolutely thrilled with our new bathroom! The designs done for us were stunning and exactly what we were looking for. The fitting was carried out with precision and excellence, making everything look seamless and polished.

I was incredibly impressed with how well-organised the entire process was. A special shoutout to Jas and Charlie for their exceptional customer service; their daily phone calls every afternoon to ensure we were satisfied were a wonderful touch. Their attention to detail and customer service really stood out.

I can hardly wait to show off my new bathroom to all my friends. It has exceeded all my expectations!

I would not recommend this company

I would not recommend this company, I had a shower fitted and I’m now having unresolved problems with the company who feel like blaming the customer covers them. One of the boards in the shower is flaking so we contacted the company regarding this under the understanding we had warranty as promised, we have now been told this isn’t the case and are being accused of using harsh products and causing the damage ourselves. We have only used soapy water and followed all manufacturers advice. No one has been out to the property and they have made this assumption by photos that have been sent in. Also the issue is on one panel if it was due to products wouldn’t this problem be on all the panels? We now know a great deal of others that are having unresolved issues with this company and are even being taken to court. They basically rob you of your money and have 0 care for their customers. There’s no point even promising a warranty! We had issues as soon as the shower was fitted and marks on the panels appeared within 5-6month. We are now making a claim with trading standards.

A year ago we installed a new shower tray, enclosure, shower and 4 wall boards. Upon completion you signed off the job as 10 out of 10 and confirmed you were very happy with the quality of the work.

You chose products from 2 different manufacturers.

After 7 months of regular use of the products you reported that 1 of the 4 wall boards had some tiny specs where the cosmetic coating had been damaged and the shower hose was scuffed. When you reported these issues you confirmed the damage had only just occurred and wasn’t present when the products were installed.

They were both branded products from different reputable manufacturers and you claimed the cosmetic damage was due to both products being faulty.

Both manufacturers independently investigated your claim under warranty and both concluded that the damage was due to harsh or abrasive cleaning products.

The damage is cosmetic and does not affect the use of the shower.

Following our assistance with the claim to the shower manufacturer they offered to send out a replacement hose free of charge and we advised you that the panel board finish can either be restored by Magicman (or a similar company) as this is not a service we offer or alternatively we could replace the damaged board at a reduced price.

I understand that you are disappointed that both manufacturers decided that the damage was due to incorrect cleaning products, but unfortunately their decisions are beyond our control.

We are more than happy to replace the damaged products for you, please don’t hesitate to contact us to arrange a convenient appointment.

A very professional bathroom renovation job…

A professional bathroom renovation job from planning to completion. We had a small, outdated en suite bathroom that needed replacing and Plumbcraft did a superb job. Good communications throughout the project from the design and office team and checking with us at each stage of the work. A complete transformation in two and a half days carried out by Dan and Chris. They came on time, worked to the project brief, kept us in the loop and cleaned it all up afterwards as it’s messy removing a bathroom suite. On time, in budget and a really high standard of work from Plumbcraft. No hesitation in recommending the company as they have now done a number of jobs for us and all were professional and a high quality standard.

Plumbcaft customer care

Arrived as arranged, listened attentively as we explained the problem. Within minutes Ollie told us what he thought the problem was and proceeded to fix it. It was refreshing to see that he started with the simplest of possibilities rather than the worst it could have been.
Would definitely recommend 'Plumbcraft to anyone and a big shout out to Olie, helpful as ever.

Ended up with more problems cause by their engineer.

The company recently sent an engineer to conduct a routine service in my oil boiler, but left me with more issues that had to be rectified by a reputable company.
The engineer clearly struggled, and to the hilarity of other trades at the house, he found it necessary to watch videos on the internet to resolve the issues, and kept going to his van to seek advice. I found it rather inappropriate that he sought cigarettes from other tradesman at the house.

Whilst he re-routed some piping well, he left my entire house was left smelling of heating oil, and me with a hefty bill to pay.

When my partner call to ask about the smell of oil in the house, she was dismissed and told it was a residual smell from the service.

When I called them to come back and resolve the problem they had caused, the same engineer came. On this occasion he found three ‘weeps’ on the boiler, something which he never found during a service, which I would expect him to have. On this occasion he also struggled to get the fri t back on the boiler and I had to do it myself. Upon leaving he said the problem has d been fixed.

Unfortunately the smell of heating oil remained, and nothing was fixed. But yet again I ended up with a bill. When I contact the company there was no reasoning with them and they would not accept and responsibility for an issue which wasn’t there prior to their engineer coming to service the boiler.

I anticipate a lengthy response from plumbcraft, but I would encourage anybody seeking work to be done or their heating or boiler to go else where.

Unfortunately this is an entirely false review.

The first ever contact Plumbcraft had in regards to this property was from Mr Davidson when he reported an active and ongoing oil leek in his property that had been leaking into his untreated and unprotected plyboard floor for at least 5 days prior to our engineers visit and that was the reason he contacted us - even sending a photo of the oil leak he had discovered. We had never previously worked in this property so we are not responsible for the smell of oil or other defects that were present prior to visiting the property. Mr Davidson asked us to repair the leak -this was not a routine boiler service at all as he states in the review. However at Mr Davidson's request we did service the boiler and repair the leak during the same visit.

During the visit we found several issues with the way the boiler had been installed in the property, by a 3rd party prior to our visit and we advised Mr Davidson of the defects (it does not comply with building regulations). Mr Davidson could not provide the boiler manual so the engineer had to download this from the internet in order to complete the service and carry out the required fault finding. As the engineer could not get signal inside the property he did this outside. Our engineer corrected the faults he found and advised Mr Davidson he would also require an electrician because the boiler wiring has been incorrectly installed. Upon completion of the work/visit Mr Davidson inspected the repair, was satisfied with the work, was sent a job report detailing what work had been carried out and invoiced for the visit, which he paid in full and no issue/complaint was raised. Our engineer did not request cigarettes from anyone at the property.

10 days later Mr Davidson reported there was still a smell of oil - which is normal following an oil leak (the oil smell will persist for some time after it has been repaired), which was explained politely to him and his wife.

However, we returned to the property at Mr Davidson request to carry out an additional inspection. We found no issues with our work whatsoever. Mr Davidson disputed the invoice by falsely claiming we caused the oil leak and had to be reminded that he actually sent us a photo of the leak by email 5 days before our initial visit to his property. He no longer disputes the invoice and has paid in full.

I'd find somehwere else, that gives a s**t

Routine boiler service: all seemed ok until the next day when we were left without any hot water!!! Contacted 'customer service' & emergency contact details as it was towards 5pm on a Friday evening - nothing. Had to source another local plumber to fix the issue (but not until Monday morning & with a significant cost to us) When we did speak to Plumbcraft on Monday they said it was nothing at all to do with them - just a strange coincidence...mmmm. They could not have been more dismissive if they had tried. The plumber who came to fix the issues said the part that should have been looked at within any reputable service should have been picked up as faulty. And then we receive an 'Unpaid Invoice' demand through the post (written in bold on the envelope!!) - the cheek! I have paid, more fool me, but I don't want any credit marks next to my name but i certainly won't be using this company again & hope you heed my warnings too!!!
To be clear we did speak to the office on Monday morning to raise our concerns about the of service following the next days cessation of hot water & were told they weren’t related, there wasn’t anything they could do other than more work with more costs & that the invoice still needed to be paid. This was after a full weekend of no hot water.

Hi Suzanne, I am shocked to read this review because you have never raised any complaint whatsoever with us, if you were unhappy with our service in anyway we would hope that you would let us know to give us the opportunity to resolve your complaint.

You booked us in for a boiler service and when making the booking you reported "the boiler is losing pressure on the hot water side". We fully tested and serviced the boiler on Thursday 22nd February, and we cleaned the magnetic system filter. The boiler readings were all within range and the boiler was working as expected during the service (which we have photos of the readings taken during the service as well a copy of the service record issued at the time confirming the was no issue present during the service). We found no fault with the boiler during the visit but advised you there was an issue with the water and advised you to contact your water supplier. We left your property at 8.59am on Thursday morning. We invoiced you for the service the following afternoon at 2pm. At 6.43pm on Friday evening you emailed us to say you weren't sure if it was related but the boiler was showing error codes and making a noise so you had turned it off. That is why you had no hot water - not due to the service because during the service the boiler was working as expected, no fault occurred and the boiler worked without issue for 2 days after the service. We can only identify a fault that is present during our visit - we cannot predict what (if any) fault might develop in future. We were closed over the weekend but we phoned you and emailed you first thing on Monday morning and you emailed us back at 10.24am advising us that you had arranged visit to investigate the hot water fault with another company that afternoon and did not need us to visit. We never heard anymore from you. You never made any further contact with us. By your own account a faulty part was discovered by another plumber on Monday and you paid for the faulty part to be replaced. A boiler service does not include any replacement parts or repairs so if a part needed to be replaced that would always have been an additional charge and is unrelated to a boiler service. We resent the invoice for the service on 8th and 28th March by email and when it remained outstanding into April we sent a copy in the post, which you paid by BACS yesterday still without making any contact with us or raising any complaint.

Think twice before using this company

Think twice before using this company. A good experience initially, but this goes downhill as things go wrong. It takes a lot of effort and a lot of years to get this company to sort out the mess they leave you in. We have used a lot of local businesses to renovate our house. I usually find the local businesses to be great to deal with. This is not the case with Plumbcraft.

2 years ago we installed a wetroom in your property which has been in everyday use since installation, without issue. However, in the 2 years since the wetroom was completed impact damage has occurred to the floor tiles on 3 separate occasions - the first time was 3 months after the wetroom was completed (3 tiles were cracked). The second time impact damage occurred (2 tiles were chipped) was a year after we completed the wetroom. On both these occasions we repaired the damage by replacing the cracked/ chipped tiles at no cost to you. The 3rd time someone / something damaged the tiles we advised you that further repairs would be at your expense.

There are 2 floor tiles with hairline cracks in them, the cracks appeared almost 2 years after the wetroom was completed. They do not affect the use of the wetroom as it is fully tanked and can only be result of impact damage - ie something has been dropped on them.

We have offered to replace which ever tiles you want us to at our standard rates and we have even offered a substantial credit note towards the purchase of new tiles should you wish to choose a different tile for the entire floor, but we do require you to pay the labour to replace the tiles that you damaged.

As you have stated you were initially very happy with the our service and the wetroom as you told us the service was excellent and your bathroom looks lovely, but we cannot be responsible for damage that occurs in your property 2 years after we leave! If you think that just justifies a 1 star review we will just have to live with it.

Don’t take any notice of the 5* reviews…

Don’t take any notice of the 5* reviews as they have been bribed with a £10 Marks and Spencer Gift Voucher!! They have absolutely no customer care at all which we found out when we complained about the standard of work that had been done for us. Nobody in authority would talk to us and we were only able to communicate via email and send photos. They assured us that the work had been done to Building Regulations standard. We had no choice but get the remedial work done ourselves as we needed to use the plumbing in question. The more we took the pipe work apart to correct the problem the more errors we found including a waste pipe going uphill which would never have worked. Needless to say we will not be using them again and would never recommend them

In February 2022 you requested a quote for new boiler and radiators in your bungalow. You also asked us to install a new soil pipe to a room which you intended to make into an en-suite. We advised you during our initial visit that due to the distance of the proposed bathroom from the drain, and the fact the pipework needed to run under the floor, we may not be able to achieve sufficient fall and advised you that if you decided to go ahead with it Plumbcraft would not accept liability for any future issues with the waste, this was stated in writing to you by email on 21st Feb ‘22- prior to installing the soil pipe and you asked for the work to be carried out on that basis, along with the new boiler and radiators. Since then we have also carried out the annual service on the boiler for the last 2 years. Confirming you were happy with the service we offered. No issues were raised until 2 years after the soil pipe work was complete, when you advised us that your husband has plumbed in the en-suite himself and you were concerned about solid waste from the toilet, because solid waste did not reach the outside drain with 1 standard flush of the new toilet - but it did when more water was used. So the soil pipe does work. During our latest visit to service the boiler you asked us to inspect a section of soil pipe, that you thought might cause trouble in the future - where you had removed the floor boards. Upon inspection we found the section you had exposed did meet building regs and we suspected if there was an issue it was more likely to be at the toilet pan connector. We asked you to provide further information about how your husband had plumbed in the new en-suite to help identify the cause of the fault, which you did not provide and we offered to carry out further inspections to check all the plumbing - including the work your husband had done, however you told us that you expected us to do that for free, and were not prepared to pay us for that, so no further work was done. This review is our punishment for not offering free services to you.

We do offer an M&S voucher as a thank you to our wonderful customers should they choose to leave an online review. The reviews themselves are genuine feedback, from genuine customers in their own words and they are free to write whatever they like. We decided to thank customer who take the time to leave a review with an M&S voucher, because the vast majority of our customers are very happy with the service they receive, and tell us so, but don’t feel the need to post public reviews about it. Most people only choose to post online reviews when they are unhappy. Just as you have done, across multiple review sites. However on the several previous occasions we have worked for you - when you were happy with our service, you didn’t feel the need to leave any public reviews, but because we advised you further work would be chargeable, as is perfectly reasonable and normal for any business to charge for it's services, you have chosen to leave negative feedback with no mention of fact you happily chose to use our services for 2 years after the initial work was done, clearly confirming you were happy with our services, and which you told us at the time.
