Pathetic customer service

Pool Painters completely refurbished our pool. All work was done by subcontractors, turned out the owner is just the middleman. The subcontractors redid some work they were not happy with (work done by a trainee) but assured us we would not be charged as it was their mistake and it would only take just over a day. The owner added 1.5k on to the bill for this extra work. When I queried this with the subcontractors they were very shocked and said not only should I have never been charged (and such an exorbitant amount) but the owner never paid any of that extra money to them - basically he kept it all for himself so they were working for free. Within six months paint had failed completely. We understand things can go wrong and as the work was under warranty we tried to contact the owner to organise the repair. That's when things went really wrong - owner did not reply to emails/voicemails/text messages/web site contact form. In effect Pool Painters were completely uncontactable and we were starting to feel like we'd been scammed. I can think of no reason why he would ignore customers like this unless he thinks that maybe they will give up so he doesn't have to honour his warranty? Nearly six months after initially emailing him our pool was finally repainted under warranty. Three weeks later the paint has started bubbling and blistering again - exactly how the paint failure started last time. Emptying and filling the pool has been at our time and expense and we have lost almost two summers use of the pool. The worst part by far has been the time and effort needed to get the owner to honour his warranty. I feel very sorry for the subcontractors - they only get paid for what the owner tells them to do so if he says fix a total paint failure with 1 1/2 days work and one coat of paint that's all he'll pay them for. When the subcontractors go the extra mile to make the job as good as possible they're probably not getting paid for it. Wayne and Justin (the painters) were excellent to deal with and all the failures and shocking lack of service are 100% on the owner of Pool Painters. I noticed that the paint used was not the paint the owner specified in his initial quote - I wonder if the owner uses cheaper/lesser quality paint and that's why it has failed so much. We would have saved ourselves a lot of time, money, and aggravation if we had never used Pool Painters.
