Darlington main post office, 1 staff member for ages, long wait

Mid afternoon Friday only one member of staff at the central Darlington, Cornmill post office. Naturally the customer in front of me had a lot of things to do so the wait seemed very long. I pulled up a chair for a while and at least two people gave up and left. Eventually another staff member came and things improved. I enquired about the situation and was told that they had staffing issues with regard to which this gentleman had asked for help. The main (and I think only) post office in the centre of Darlington with only one staff member is a disgrace.

I sent two parcels from the UK (paid…

I sent two parcels from the UK (paid just under 68 pound sterling) R1400 and the post office didn't even attempt delivery of them. The website stated that they were ready for collection as of the 11 May although they didn't say where. I wrote the first email on the 18th to customer services and didn't hear back from them so I then escalated it on the 20th of May demanding a answer and was only then told where they were. I live in the UK. I paid for these to be delivered to a person's home address and due to sheer laziness, the post office has instead left them with no commication at a post office and they have to fetch them. I should be refunded for this. Had I of known this was going to happen, I definitely would not of used this service. They could of stolen the parcels had I not sent them tracked. This service is disgusting, and you are lazy for not attempting delivery..... Shame on you. As for Tabisa Mvandaba in the Germistan branch, your attitude is disgusting as you should have responded to the email that I sent with regards to the refund in postage....

Andy is the best postie

I have never met Andy, but he's my favourite postie. Always makes the effort to leave the parcels where they are meant to go, and disguises them really well. Absolute class service from Andy! Give them a raise!

Foxton post office

I would like to give feedback on my local post office in Foxton Cambridgeshire.
I value the service highly as I find the staff to be friendly considerate & above all efficient in their role. I regularly use this post office & I have always found the service to be of a high standard.
It is the little things that matter & a kind word & conversation can make a big difference so a big thank you to Foxton post office.

Outdated online banking- not really online banking when you cannot access the account well, waiting for your reset details to come via the post. Said it should take 3-5 working days now on my 7th working day! Security numbers should be able to be reset online especially when the post being delivered is not as regular

Very disappointed

Very disappointed with the service at the Watford Harlequin Post Office. The location is very convenient, but unfortunately the staff attitude completely ruins the experience. They often come across as rude and unhappy with their job.

I recently arranged for my parcel to be redelivered to this branch after missing my delivery. When I went to collect it, one staff member immediately started scolding me for “using their address” on the envelope. She kept telling me for over 5 minutes that I was not allowed to use the Post Office address as a receiving address, even though I kept explaining that I had simply used the official redelivery option to send the parcel to their branch because it was the closest location.

What made the situation worse was that she had not even confirmed whether the parcel details actually matched mine before telling me off. Luckily, I had a photo of my original envelope from the Embassy, and only then did she realise the envelope she was talking about was not even mine.

There was no apology or acknowledgement that she had made a mistake after wrongly scolding me in front of other customers. It felt very disrespectful and unprofessional.

I completely understand branch policies, but staff should speak to customers politely and confirm the facts first before accusing or lecturing someone.

Absolutely dreadful on all levels

Absolutely dreadful on all levels. Post not turning up and lost or probably thrown away. Exceptionally rude and unhelpful staff in main Taunton branch when wanting to renew a drivers licence told “to go away” as their machine was not connecting to DVLA. Went back again told to post it and that it would cost double!

Wonderful! Post Office inside Londis, Bathurst Walk, Iver Bucks

Had to make a last minute post to Australia (after a few hiccups with my local branch closing down) from the post office counter inside Londis, Bathurst Walk, Richings Park, Bucks. The lovely man Dinesh was so helpful with giving me the best options for tracking, polite and had a wonderful chatty personality. I highly recommend this branch. Thank you Dinesh!

Attempted delivery of letter on Friday…

Attempted delivery of letter on Friday 8th May. Card left saying it would be re delivered on Monday 11th May. Took day off work, no letter. Went to Sorting Office on Thursday 14th May to pick it up. Told by Roger, they didn't have the letter and didn't know where it was, so couldn't help! Useless service, unhelpful staff. I was made to feel it was my fault. No apology for poor service given.

Discrimination allowed at branches

Unfortunately this was a TERRIBLE experience, I have an assistant dog and on this day I walked in to Hathershaw branch with her. I was NEVER refused entry with my dog at any Post Office branch so I was confident this was fine. The owner started shouting at me from behind the counter that I had to tie my dog outside and it could not be in. I explained it was an assistant dog and he asked me for my card. Under the Equality Act 2010 (and Disability Discrimination Act 1995 in NI), which class certified assistance dogs as "auxiliary aids". It is generally unlawful to refuse access to a disabled person with an assistance dog in public places, transport, or housing, and businesses must make reasonable adjustments. And the same act there is no requirement for a credential to be displayed as there is no official registry for assistant dogs. When I tried to explain this he shouted "anyone can say that" (that it is an assistance dog) from behind his counter. He told me to go to the side counter and again I tried to explain. The younger man here said that the other guy was the owner of the post office so he could do as he wished. Again I explained this wasn't true and I explained doing so was discrimination. The owner continued to shout at me making rude gestures and telling me to leave the branch. I told him I would file a complaint and he was pretty ok with that. I am pursuing further action. One thing is to not be aware of the law, the other is to treat disabled people in a rude way because of your ignorance. I was deeply disappointed and was left shaking and distressed. The sheer lack of respect, lack of empathy and arrogance shown was extremely poor. Next day I went to a different branch, entered with my dog, not even a second look, they served me amicably and politely. The world is full of hatred and this is the right way to act, if you have questions ask politely, no one knows everything but you can surely find out if you care.
Meanwhile I complained to post office and they are not pursuing the complaint they allow postmasters to act like this regardless of the fact that it is their brand. Very very poor indeed.

Disgusting service at Darlington main…

The customer service at Darlington main post office is disgusting. I needed to show proof of identity, as instructed by HMRC. Went on Thursday 7th. May upon arrival at least 20 people waiting some had been waiting over 35 minutes.only one person on the counter WHY?
So I decided to go next day Friday got there 12-15, 15 people in the queue one person on the desk WHY? In 25 minutes 4 people had been seen to. Then the lady came out and said it is closing at 12-45 come back at 1-15. People had been standing now for 40+ minutes. Absolutely disgusting service.
So went back Saturday morning to verify my id 5 people in front I was very happy until I got to the one person on the counter. Where I was informed I had to make an appointment for them to look at my driving licence and look at me and say hey that is you, it is a rule that is made by Darlington post office there is no way of finding out you have to make an appointment until you talk to that ONE person at the desk. So now I have to go next Saturday at 11-30 for an appointment and believe it or not I have to stand in the Queue for how long it take and when you get to the window tell them you have an appointment at 11-30 but it could be 2 o’clock UNBELIEVABLE

Extremely frustrating and misleading…Travel Insurance

Extremely frustrating and misleading experience with Post Office Travel Insurance.

I purchased an annual family travel insurance policy after being redirected from Compare the Market to the official Post Office Travel Insurance website. During the sales process, the website prominently advertised that children under 18 are included free on family policies.

I relied on that representation when choosing the policy.

Only later, during renewal, was I informed that this benefit supposedly does NOT apply to policies originating from comparison websites. Despite multiple exchanges with their complaints team, they have still been unable to point me toward any clear wording in:

the policy documents,
the IPID,
the renewal paperwork,
or the purchasing journey itself,

that explicitly states this exclusion.

Instead, the response has effectively been:
“comparison-site policies may differ.”

That is not the same as clearly disclosing that a prominently advertised family benefit does not apply.

The most frustrating part is that the complaint was raised BEFORE the policy expired, yet the delays in handling the complaint have now conveniently resulted in them saying the policy can no longer be renewed because it has expired.

The entire process has felt like a game of moving goalposts:

advertise a benefit,
allow the customer to rely upon it,
then later argue it was never included because of an undisclosed comparison-site exclusion.

Consumers should be extremely careful and should insist on written clarification of every advertised feature if purchasing through a comparison website, because Post Office appears willing to rely on distinctions that are not clearly disclosed during the purchasing process.

Very disappointing experience and an exhausting complaints process.
