BE AWARE!!! The name “Precision Roofing” does not reflect the quality of its work, and is anything but precise.
They are not professionals who take pride in their work or strive for excellence. They want to complete projects as quickly as possible cutting as many corner as they can. Initial quotation may appear attractive but be cautious of additional charges later on.
Symmetry and straight lines is not a priority for this company. Do not expect any in the installation of soffits, vents, fascias, dry verge or gutters.
The father Mick, and son Thomas, rely on a “master of all trades” (tiles, windows, carpentry, gutters, plumbing, soffits) paid by day worked . They are not skilled in any and the concept of straight, level lines or use of appropriate tools is not apparent to them. But the use of excessive amounts of silicone and other adhesives to conceal their poor workmanship, is normal practice.
Mick assures works are done to the highest standards and guaranteed for any issues that arise in the future, this is not the case.
I realised, on the garage, the soffits and downpipes of the gutters are installed differently on each side.
The gutters in the back of the house had a small leak and point out was not correctly inclined to drain.
The fascia were not in a straight line, from one side to the other.
The dry verge system was not aligned and some pieces were loose.
I called to get this issues resolved. Couple of days later Thomas, the son and foreman of the company came by.
I took a long piece of wood, and gently moved one of the Dry Verge pieces that was moving just on the top of the front door. Thomas said that if I move it with a stick they will become loose and I would broke them….
About the garage gutters, he explained the right one was installed incorrectly by his father, but he installed correctly the left one However they did not correct their mistake and left it as is.
The leak on the gutter was resolve with a good amount of silicon sealant. He stated the “incline” of the gutters were correct.
Theoretically all issues were addressed.
Week later Window installers were unable to complete the job as the Dormer soffits were uneven, improperly cut at an angle and not flashed to the frames, also they noticed insufficient lead for the down corners of the frames.
I noticed the gutters were not draining properly and were accumulating water at the centre.
The Dry Verge pieces were misaligned, the right or left pieces were not considered to get them installed, and were not interlocked under the tiles as required, also the eaves closures were not installed. The overall appearance is uneven and the wind caused the pieces to move.
Call again and was Mick and the Master employee who came.
Plenty silicone sealant was used to address the gutters issue (no incline modification).
The incorrectly installed gutter down pipes of the garage were not reinstalled.
New lead was installed in the down corners of the window frames and soffits were cut level and flashed to the frames.
The loose Dry Verge pieces were screwed, and where it was not possible, silicon sealant was added to fix them.
Theoretically all they had to do was done in 2 days.
We had some rain, and water was not draining and now had 2 points dripping, one just above back door.
The gutter alignments had not been resolved and they declined to return. They blame the window installers for bending the gutters. This false. The gutters were not properly levelled from the outset.
Mick has declined to return because he has already visited twice and incurred costs for his employee to resolve the incorrect installation, but If the installation had been done correctly on the first visit or corrected on the second visit or resolved on the third visit he would not have to pay his employee again.
If you decide to hire them because you do not have the budget for professional people be aware and do not pay them until the job is completed to your satisfaction. I have learned the hard way that a low initial budget will ultimately be more expensive.
