Totally rubbish company. My son's room was full with junk and dirty. The window doesn't open the light fitting is hanging from the ceiling and the lamp doesn't have a lampshade. Try to report it and they'll say they have no record of it. Ask for a key to access the app and you won't be given one. My son's apartments don't even have a site manager employed. They're due to start whenever. Don't waste your money. This company shouldn't be trading.
Well what an experience but not in a good way, i am the parent of a student who took one of these rooms just last week. We booked a 4bed ensuite and never got what we booked, they are now sharing with six others, freezer dirty, cupboards dirty, stairways dirty, then we looked at the room, not acceptable im afraid the mirrors in the bathroom were that filthy you could not see in them, the join in the plastic around the sink area had a big gap, very small window hardly any light coming in. I complained to Prestige Living in regard to not being given the room which was booked to date no reply. Spoke to the person on reception last Saturday to inform them that the room was not clean and totally unacceptable they promised to get a room clean on Monday still waiting. The gym equipment ie treadmills which were reported as not working seven months ago are still not working, so how they can say there is a gym on sight is beyond me. I have emailed Prestige Living twice no reply will not be booking this accommodation for the next two years once this year is up.
As a reasonably optimistic, understanding person; I never write bad reviews . However, I’m writing this to share my experience with prestigestudentliving so students are aware of the poor service they may face.
In early January I applied for a premium studio with prestige student living and rather than informing me that there were no premium studios left, I was given a standard studio. Now £199 per week for a smaller studio was not ideal so I decided to read up on their cancellation policy and look for somewhere more suitable.
The contract states that before August prior to the academic year, if you decide to cancel you must find a replacement tenant on your own, direct them to sign the contract etc and if completed correctly you will receive the refundable deposit for your stay. If you cannot find a tenant you are required to pay for your studio until you can find a replacement tenant. Which is completely fair.
After 2 weeks of calling and emailing the company, being passed through departments , being put on hold and being told to call back at certain times the following days as well as visiting the accommodation and being ignored at the door . I was finally passed through to the phone number of the specific accommodation. Here they gave me the general information on how to sign a tenant up.
I followed this step by step and was helped by a very pleasant call handler. However this call handler left the company and I fell into trouble again. Even after the new tenant paid their deposit and signed the contract, I was still receiving welcome emails. I replied and said I am no longer staying here and requested for my deposit back to which I was told I have to wait a two week cooling off period. After this two weeks I emailed again and they said I’d missed the deadline and should’ve emailed within the cooling off period to get my money back. I then replied with screen shots of the exact conversation I’d had with one of their colleagues to which I was ignored.
I emailed again and this time I was told the new tenant hadn’t signed the contract and agreements. I questioned the tenant and they sent me proof of all signed contracts along with welcome emails from the company. I replied to the company email by stating this and saying I’d like my refundable deposit back and they said they won’t refund me because my contract is still live.
I’ve never had such a poor experience with cancellations and could not understand why a million pound company was withholding money from a student who should’ve been refunded months ago.
Anyway. I started the cancellation process in March and it’s now approaching august and I still haven’t had my accommodation agreement cancelled or my money returned.
Fraudlent company. The photos they post are fake and they engage in illegal and shady practices. The only thing they care about is scamming you and squeezing you for money. Stay away.
Prestige Student Living are not compliant. Expensive homes, and refuse to terminate your contract despite failing to meet their promises on various occasions. Do not care for the wellbeing of students only their money! 😡
Horrible. Advertise as luxury living. My son living in dust, nothing working apart from the builders who are still there who shouldnt be there drilling at 8am. Fire alarm going off middle of the night about 1 in 4 nights ruining his next day to study. Poor communication if any once you paid your money, you cannot get hold of the building staff. They will not answer your e mails try and you will see. As a parent massive regret. Were moving him out.
THEY ARE ABSOLUTE TRASH I TELL YOU, THEY TRIED TO SCAM MY DEPOSIT FROM ME, I WAS MEANT TO RECEIVE MY REFUND WITHIN THE 7 DAY COOLING OFF PERIOD. DON'T BOOK ANYTHING HERE, FOR YOUR OWN GOOD, BUT I WILL GET MY MINEY BACK, I SWEAR IF I HAVE TO CHASE THEM I WILL.
I can’t stress enough - do not book with Prestige Student Living.
I cancelled my booking in Straits Village (one of their Nottingham properties) on 24th August within the 7 day cooling off period and was told that I’d receive my deposit back in 28 days. They even took my bank account sort code and account number to sent my money.
28 days later and I called on 24th September asking where my deposit is. Thus began a week of being thrown about by staff, getting different excuses with every member of staff I spoke to. Some even mentioned that my money was with random third party companies that I’d never heard of (DPS, Global Pay) and it was not mentioned on the website that would happen.
Staff were incredibly unhelpful and on the whole seemed unwilling to get my money back. At one point one staff member - Beth - said she couldn’t get in contact with their own finance department because they don’t have a phone number.
The way Prestige Student Living conducted themselves felt very dodgy and unprofessional. My emails have been ignored on occasion too.
The deposit was £250, a lot of money. I’ve had to take matters further with my bank because it doesn’t seem like they are willing to give me my refund.
Incredibly frustrating. I’d recommend not booking a room there, let alone booking and cancelling.
On a separate note, their online booking system is awful.
Students due to move into Vantage - Prestige student living in Nottingham on the 18th of September - the start of freshers week and two days before course officially starts. 3 weeks before move in students are emailed to say that the accommodation would not be ready, and that they could move in on the 25th of September. This not only meant that all of freshers is missed, but also the first week of lectures, inductions and academic welcome events were missed too. No effort has been made by the accommodation to provide support or help for students. It is now the 20th and there has been no update from the accommodation and we have no idea if they can move in. Walking past the building it is clear that it is still a building site and it is not ready to move in to. I hope vantage are willing to accept liability and responsibility for the huge negative impact that this will have on their students. Not only are they missing out on forming relationships in the first week, getting to know the city, and settling in to life away from home. They are also missing scheduled academic lectures/seminars/inductions. Absolutely disgusted.
After hours of trying to contact them and manage to book a studio with them, I ended with buggy website and hours on the phone without anyone reaching back to me. Worst experience.
Difficult to get to and almost felt like they are trying to avoid your calls. I tried contacting them and they kept bringing me in circles until 2 days when I had called multiple times. They also still have not returned my refund for deposit after issuing this from the start of August. I have sent emails regarding my deposit and they have not answered at all.
AVOID!! won’t give me a refund for my deposit!! Matthew at brunswick house in cambridge hangs up the phone and fobs you off if you ring up. scamming company ripping off young people
Living in an air-conditioned room in Sheffield is so comfortable, I was enjoying the cool air conditioner while everyone else was complaining about the heat in the room.
I rented a studio in Steel City and it was a great place to live. The overall environment is relatively quiet, which I really like. The layout of the room is spacious and comfortable for one person to live. The most important thing is that it is equipped with air conditioning, which is really warm in winter and cool in summer, especially the moment you just come back to the room from outside, it will be so hot that you will explode. That’s when the air conditioner works and “save you”. My room also has a small balcony where I usually sit and read or daze. When it rains, sit here and listen to the sound of rain, it’s so relaxing! However, there is no dining table in the room, but it’s not a big deal for me. If you want to come and live, the better way is to check it with staff here in advance. Or you can buy a small square table by yourself. Then it’s easier to invite friends over as guests. Finally, the staff here, they are really nice and approachable, I love to talk with them. And from time to time, there will be benefits and gifts given away. I enjoy the life here and recommend you to come!
It's comfortable and easy to go shopping. Supermarket is not far from here
Steel city is quite good at air conditioner and constructions, i do have a wonderful time in here. The guys in the reception are also really nice.
Amazing place to live in. It provides you with all the services you need to have a good and healthy life. Staff is incredibly kind and helpful. It’s the right place to spend great time as a student.
