Pre test plus version of CEM Insight tests. Unethical marketing strategy. Unrealistic. Overly difficult with extreme time pressure, your child is distraught as the computer marks each stage and shows how “below average” they are doing. It then provides links for more practice at a cost. It preys on a parent’s panic when they see their child failing and upset. CEM tests are designed to be very difficult to complete due to time pressure, they are more a test of processing speed rather than ability. They are already stressful, Pre test plus utilise this to crank up the pressure for more sales at the expense of a child’s well being. Plus the pre test plus test is clunky to answer, slowing you down. A couple of sections glitched on marking, regardless of refreshing it would not show the correct answer in its review for the maths section. I wanted a practice test to familiarise my daughter with the computer and question styles. What I got was a child who had been happy end up in floods of tears, full of self doubt and not wanting to do her big school exams. I believe you should do harder practice exams than the real thing but this was excessive.
