I had a very frustrating experience using ProctorExam for an online exam.

There was a clear mismatch between the scheduled exam time provided by the course provider and the time shown within the ProctorExam system. I attempted to access the exam at the official time given to me, but the platform indicated a different time and would not allow me to proceed.

As a result, I missed my exam despite being fully prepared and present. This led to additional stress and extra costs to reschedule.

While the concept of remote invigilation is useful, the system relies heavily on perfect synchronisation and stable technical setup. In my case, the lack of clarity and coordination between systems caused a complete failure of the process.

I would strongly advise future users to double-check timings, complete system checks early, and take screenshots of everything, as technical or scheduling issues can have serious consequences.

Overall, this experience highlights how critical reliability and communication are for remote exams.

Awful experience using this platform for a recent exam linked to APM Project Fundamentals Qualification.

It took 4 different devices (work laptop, iPad, Samsung phone, personal laptop) to actually download and use the platform.

The 'security' elements of the platform are ridiculous too where you had to download an app on your phone and use your phone camera as well as your laptop camera to show different angles to prove that no one was in the room with you. I had to provide my driving licence to prove I am who I say I am, had to video my room 360 view, show that my ears had nothing in them like headphones or earbuds.

Once in the platform, a third of the way through the 60 exam questions, the platform decides to close itself down for no reason. I spent 20-25 minutes trying to re-download ProctorExam as it kept saying that it wasn't available on my device but finally managed to get back in.

Managed to finish the test and rather than get an actual pass, I just got a message to say that I'd failed and that I would get something in writing to confirm this. Seems odd that I can't get a pass mark straightaway.

Also didn't like the fact that I had to download software onto 2 of my personal devices as we are meant to keep our data secure and this felt unnecessary. I have no idea ProctorExam will be keeping my information for either.

Sent me a link to 'test my equipment' with no instructions mannual how to install all this software, all these Chrome extentions. After step 6 out of 7 getting an error, lost connection. The only technical support they have is a chat, ended up chatting to 3 different people, everyone just told me to move closer to the router, delete and re-install the app, turn it on and off again, thats it, no solution, as if my equipment is causing the fault, rather than their software. Been also told to disable all anti-virus software on windows? They cant log on remotely, cant resolve any issues, told me they cant help.
Avoid these online colleges that use Proctor Exam software.

If only I could give 0 but no option.
Camera feeds kept getting disconnected so frequently.
First the stress of the exam, time constraints and to top it all, these technical issues. No wonder it is so poorly rated. Wonder y the Royal college of physicians UK want to use this application! Especially when around 90% people have serious issues with the application.
Disappointed really.

I followed the instructions and did a technical check two days in advance. Everything seemed fine. When I came to take the exam, it just didn't work. You have to have your mobile phone pointing at your computer and after taking all the necessary images and setting up the phone, it kept saying my phone was disconnected even thought when I looked at my phone screen it said it was connected fine. The online help were useless. They suggested I restarted everything - which I did. Same thing happened. When I reported this they said I should move closer to my internet source - which was entirely impractical but I tried nonetheless. They then discontinued my chat as I hadn't replied for a few minutes because I was moving locations. I've been able to take my exam. Utter waste of time and money.

Tried using ProctorExam for an online test, and it was an absolute nightmare. The software kept crashing, the proctors were either missing or completely unhelpful, and the whole experience was stressful beyond belief. Worst part? Even after following all their ridiculous requirements, they still flagged my test for ‘suspicious activity’ with no explanation.

If you’re looking for a smoother, more reliable way to get help with online exams and classes, I’d recommend checking out Teratutors instead. They actually understand what students need and provide real academic support without all the tech headaches. Wish I had known about them before wasting my time with this mess.

48 hours before exam. Says it must be done 48 hours before No link. Less than 24 hours link comes. No email came with the QR Code. Today, nothing. Tried to call. They don't open til after 8, test is at 8! So, I can't even test for this job. Horrible horrible

I would give a 0 star if I could. Pathetic.

Doesn't support Iphone 15?? I mean really this is 2024 and your product is that bad. How are they in business???

Found the process of setting it up more stressful than the exam, wish I'd gone the classroom route.

This is without doubt one of the most frustrating experiences I have had by trying to set this up in order to take my exam. The online chat was unhelpful, with a very complicated process to ensure I had completed all the steps. It is unnecessarily difficult and I will never recommend Proctor again.

A colleague of mine recently undertook an exam with ProctorExam, during which they followed the exact exam guidelines. They were told (in writing) that they passed, however, nearly 2 months after receiving their results, they were told that they have to retake as the results were "void". This was due to 'using google to look up a definition of a word'.
They have tried to appeal, to no avail, being told that this wasn't possible, and they cannot pass the entire course unless they retake the exam.
This is totally unacceptable, considering the use of google for word definitions was never specified as prohibited, they were monitored on camera and through screen share throughout the entire exam, to ensure there was no foul play.
I suggest this company rethink their policies before asking clients to take exams, specifying exactly what is allowed prior to exams being given out to prevent unnessacesry mental stress and affect on wellbeing, especially once somebody has already completed AND passed the exams successfully.

Their support team is the worst. I had an exam on Monday, check needed to be done on Saturday. It’s the weekend, but sounded like a few minute job. Ran into an error, contacted the support team. Then wasted 4 and half hours of my weekend for them to tell to restart my browser, restart my computer etc. Every time the chat restarted as well and had start from the begining. They had to send the link via our company tunner, where it was picked up as it had an expired license. Would customer support know this? NO! “Can you restart your browser?” It’s okay for them, as they get paid to give advice that a 5 year old could give. But who’s going to give me back my time wasted and away from my family.

They’ve also asked me to disable my VPN, antivirus, firewall and malware fighter. Sounds dodgy to me.

My advise is, try to avoid them if you can. If you have troubles, ask your pet or desk lamp, or even your microwave, they will be more helpful.

Due to my closest exam being over 4 hours away by train I (stupidly) opted for remote invigilation. I expected proctor exam to install all sorts of completely unnecessary spyware, but what I didn't expect was how completely ineffectual tech support were when a problem was encountered.

My first issue was that their app wouldn't work on my phone, they said it was a problem with my exam body not them (how my exam body has anything to do with their app I will never know) but when I contacted my exam body they had a 'simple fix' to just reinstall the app - as if I didn't try that repeatedly over the course of a few days to try and get this working.

At some point, the link that I needed to use to test the tech just suddenly stopped working, so I had a much more serious problem now, but given that it took my exam body 4 weeks to reply to the first issue I am not hopeful that this will be resolved in time for my exam.

It will now either work or it won't on the day. Just more unnecessary stress for an exam worth £200.

Software is easy to use and intuitive. Easy to take your exam and proctor was helpful in the chat. Had a small technical issue which was solved by tech support

I booked an exam with someone else but they use proctorexam. They are technically very limited and force you to install a chrome plugin - which is a problem if you don't use the chrome browser. Since chrome is a nightmare when it comes to privacy they should support at least one other browser.
Support is not helpful at all.

I sat in examination provided by the digital college. They are wonderful. Proctor exam, however, are not so good when it comes to accommodating accessibility requests. Luckily, I end up passing my qualification. The invigilator checks for the exam via proctor exam were very stressful. I have cerebral palsy and that means that my muscles don't work normally, and when I had to hold my ID up to the camera, I could barely do it because I needed two hands to hold my ID, but then I needed to press the "take a picture button" to snapshot the appropriate portion of my ID. This was very difficult and stressful. Luckily my invigilator allowed me to continue stating that I had passed all the appropriate checks, but if I can help it I will not be using any online exams checks process by this company because it was incredibly stressful. The only reason I haven't given one star is because the invigilator was very kind and patient. It would be very helpful if I have been given the appropriate accommodations to pass these checks before exam checks. But obviously you're not allowed anybody else in the room with you which means that I kind of struggled a bit. Lesson learned on my behalf. I hope they consult a accessibility specialist. My advice to anybody who contends with a physical disability themself - find out beforehand if your qualification provider is using this company, and then if the answer is yes, run for the hills

Total scamner. They make you fail to get you rebook and repay them. They always bring excuses that your device is not compatible.That's all about to get more money out of you for your exam. I totally lost my interest on the course that I have spent 2years for throught this robotic company 🙃 😐 😒 😑

A colleague of mine recently sat an exam invigilated by this software, an exam which I should also be taking this week.
Although it allowed her to take the exam, and she passed, she has been told she failed because the software could not identify her via her identity document. As this was presumably obvious before the exam, why did it let her sit it?

I am autistic, and so very prone to anxiety, and the last thing I need is to have to worry about the invigilation software, but given the feedback on this page how can I not worry about it?

I have so little confidence in this software that I have told the setting organisation that I would rather not sit the exam and forgo my qualification rather than sit an exam invigilated by this product.

If this really is the leading European software in this area, as claimed in Proctor Exam's puff on this site, then God help their competitors. 1 star is definitely 1 too many.

This company is a money grab. If you somehow make it through your exam might as well buy another exam because for no reason the cameras shuts off

If I could give zero stars, I would. As if finding a job isn’t stressful and frustrating enough, my experience just added salt to a deep wound! I tried to set up their software on my PC so I can take an employment exam for a job I applied for, and the setup has been a complete and total migraine! I completed Step 5 of the process, which involves adding a Google Chrome add-on and sharing my screen, only to be redirected back to Step 4 of the process, which involves setting up the webcam. I tried contacting support, only to be given the same set of ineffective steps over and over again! When I tell them I completed the steps, they asked me again “Can you please confirm you completed the steps?” Apparently, either English isn’t their first or second language or they are complete morons (perhaps a little of both). The last time I talked with someone, I tried 5-10 different things that he suggested, which included sitting closer to the Internet source (I was within only a few feet) and resetting the connection—neither worked.

Special thanks to them, I was forced to give up and I now have to drive an hour and a half out of my way to take the exam on-site and take time off work unpaid! They should pay for my lost wages and transportation. If you are an employer or academic institution, I highly recommend you not use this service! Please spare your job/school applicants and students the hassle.
