Rude,Discriminatory
I am writing to share the recent experience at this nail salon, which was both disappointing and concerning.
The owner was extremely rude to my wife, insisting that she speak only Dutch during her appointment. While we understand and respect the importance of learning the local language, it is not mandatory, and customers should not be pressured or discriminated against for their language abilities or country of origin. Unfortunately, the owner made discriminatory remarks that made my wife feel very uncomfortable.
During the nail treatment, my wife experienced significant pain. When she expressed her discomfort, the owner told her she would have to "bear the pain." Eventually, the pain became unbearable, and my wife asked to stop the treatment. At that point, the owner tried to prevent her from leaving the salon, assuming she did not want to pay. My wife called me to the salon, and when I arrived, the owner continued to be rude and confrontational.
I understand that communication can be challenging when there is a language barrier. However, this does not justify rude or discriminatory behavior, nor does it entitle anyone to treat customers with disrespect or suspicion.
Due to the seriousness of this incident, I have filed a complaint with the National Discrimination Helpline. I urge others to be cautious when considering this salon.
