Charlatans!

We used this company a year ago and are just in the process of securing a party wall agreement only to be told that the drawings are wrong and show us building our new extension within the walls of the neighbour's house. Of course, no response to emails and definitely can't get through on the phone. Are these charlatans still in business? Clearly despite attempts at redress, none of the reviewers have had any of their money back. We've lost about £1500!

Slow and impossible to get hold of once you pay up

First set of structual drawings took 6 months to complete, not just because of how slow they are with creating the drawings but also because they couldn’t understand basic amendment instructions. For example, they put roof lights on our dormer extension with no normal windows (which is a ridiculous design decision to start with) and it took 2 emails to get them to put the normal windows on the face of the dormer and a further email to remove the roof lights. I had also specified at the first house visit that we had a raft foundation, as I knew it could affect structual options. It wasn’t until we were getting build quotes that a builder pointed out to us that they had put a trench foundation in the middle of the house, completely disregarding the existing foundation. After emailing revite to amend this it took a further month to get updated drawings with the correct foundation. Communication was made even more difficult from the fact that you’re never put directly through to the structual engineer for queries. Also no way to call them when it would be 10x easier to talk through issues.

A further 6 months on we finally got to the build and our builder found another issue with the design of one of the beams. Tried to get in contact with them but no phone numbers work and no responses from emails. In the end we had to go to an alternative structual engineer to get the beam design changed. I did manage to find an old number of theirs on Twitter, the guy at the other end sounded shocked that I had founded his number but confirmed it was a revite number and redirected me to using the contact form on their website (that they obviously never get back to).

I would strongly advise people to avoid this company, they aren’t reliable when you need last minute advice/changes when your mid-build.

AVOID

AVOID: Terrible experience.

After paying to amend my plans to simplify our proposed planning application, the plans had to be amended as Revite mistakenly increased the width of our upstairs floorlayout. Rightly so, the planning officer wanted this amended. After several failed attempts to get hold of Revite, including contacting their ex-members of staff that left the firm via LinkedIn (credit to them to have the decency to help get someone at Revite to respond to me), Revite tried to charge me - despite the job being that there would be no costs for amendments to get this planning approval!!! Now the really frustrating times have started, needing new technical drawings to help get building quotes (to correct Revite's original mistake with the upstairs floor width!) they have tried to charge me again. I have refused to pay for something I have already paid for and now they are just ignoring me. Last contact from them on 16th August is "We understand that your inquiry is very important. However, due to our current workload, we will be able to provide you with a response after two weeks. Thank you for your understanding." As at 27th September I am still waiting for a response despite chasing them. AVOID.

This is one of the worst companies I've ever had dealings with. They have sent plans for were not fit for prepose and break regulations, they sent plans with the wrong project in the title. When discussing this with them they then blanked me and would not response to any form of communication. I don't believe they are competent I had to make them aware of a number of errors and inconsistencies from one page to another.

Flat renovation

Company was asked to attend to look into the large boxing within a flat. It was obvious to us that the columns were load bearing and the boxing housed load bearing beams ( vertical and horizontal) however we wanted to minimise these as much as possible whilst maintaining building regulations for fire etc. After taking the money and attending for the survey they struggled to understand what we wanted to do despite numerous conversations explaining in detail. They do not appear to be knowledgeable or diligent and I would be surprised if they were qualified. After no report for 2 months I asked for a refund only to be sent a 1page report saying the beams could not be moved. Avoid at all costs.

AVOID - appalling service and unsafe

Absolutely appalling service. Communication has been incredibly poor/ frustrating once I had made payment but furthermore, the survey did not correctly identify the existing structures and therefore provided inaccurate quotes. Luckily worked with a builder who had their own structural engineer or had they start work to remove the wall based on the drawing and calculations given, I could have genuinely had half the house collapse! I have been waiting 2 months for a response to my complaints, despite calling and emailing several times a week. Please avoid for your own sake!

SCAM COMPANY DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY

We instructed them to do a structural report for our property last October. They came by 2 hours late and did a report on the 10th of November. When the lady left she told us to expect the report within 2 weeks. We did not hear anything from them for weeks. We tried calling, emailing, reaching out to their portal with no response from anyone until December 23rd when we were working on it, we told them we wanted a refund. On January 5th they sent us a report which at that point was no longer needed since we had to get the works done on our flat when we were requesting the report. We replied to their emails and now the email returns are undeliverable. Actual scam company it seems.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE – REVITE ARE A SCAM. LOOK AT NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON TRUSTPILOT UNDER EQUWEN They charged us over £1000 for drawings in relation to a wall that other professionals have told us it would be obvious to any moderately competent professional is not load bearing. I am a lawyer and I am taking legal action. Please do contact me if you have also been scammed by Revite, I would be very happy to coordinate our actions against them.

They contacted us after I posted on Bark.com (which I have since found has serious issues with scams) to remove a full wall to make a kitchen diner. Andy Harrison (if that’s his real name) contacted us and made a pretty convincing pitch. He seems to be based in the UK, while the structural engineers (if they are actually structural engineers) are based in Pakistan.

“Andy” knew the work was urgent and asked for half the money immediately (which should have been a warning sign). A visit was arranged. The floors were up and I’ve been reliably informed it would have been obvious to any competent professional that it was not a supporting wall, not least because it doesn’t even go into the foundations (but also it runs parallel to the joists and is not directly below another wall). We had to pay more and some drawings were produced by the “engineers” in Pakistan. But they only partially removed the wall despite us sending Andy a very clear design of the kitchen-diner with the full wall removed. Andy said that our instructions weren’t clear. He then said it was a full wall removal just with “nibs”. We had to pay a lot more for calculations for a full wall removal and of course had to pay immediately. This should have tipped us off that something was a miss, but we were rushing and delaying the project would cost us a lot so we went along with it. Some totally hopeless drawings eventually emerged which would replace half the wall knocked down with an elaborate set of RSJs. Once I raised concerns and asked for an explanation or a refund, I never heard from Andy again (in fact I only ever heard from him when he was asking for money). Our builder knocked down the wall after advice from other professionals with no RSJs and no issues.

Don’t be fooled by slick website, the sales pitch or the claim they’ve been around since 2010 They are in fact registered as KH2A Ltd established in 2020 with a single director. They have no presence in their registered office which houses 38 other mainly non-evident companies and there correspondence address is a co-working office space (see my google review for details).

AVOID utter disappointment

Used Revite / R-vite to conduct structural survey on a property, they failed to turn up to the initial consultation. The rescheduled appointment led to the surveyor attending the wrong property... if only I paid attention to the warning signs...

Following the survey, I paid a significant extra sum for an 'expedited' survey, they failed to deliver on time and led to continuous delays impacting the project and costing me more money with standing up contractors. I had to call them a total of 16 times (went through to answering machine), 3 emails (ignored) and 2 messages via social media to no avail. Finally they called only when they asked for more money, as a final payment.

The companies customer service has been by far the worst i've come across, save yourself the stress and financial impact and go with other more reputable companies.
To date (circa 4months) my complaint has still not been acknowledged despite multiple chasers.

Don't even bother

We engaged Revite to complete a structural inspection of our house purchase - particularly an outbuilding and conservatory. Survey was quick to book in and took an hour or so at the property.

However, when it came to the production of the report, this took over 3 weeks to receive something. This may be standard timelines however we were told several times that we would receive the report on a certain day. Whilst they were responsive to our requests, nothing came and we had to chase continually. When we did eventually receive something, it was only half of what was expected. We were then asked by the structural engineer to provide further information and pictures for his calculations, which should have been collected on the site visit. Again, we were being over promised and Revite under-delivering. When the final part of the report did come, they were not what we had agreed upfront - the report did not contain any structural calculations. We're still trying to chase this down. Attempting to get any sort of refund for poor service has proven to be just as challenging.

Some of the business also looks to be offshored so you may be working with customer service and structural engineers who aren’t based in the UK if that is important to you.

I can’t speak to the quality of their craftsmanship but if they can’t get the initial reports and structural calculations right, I would steer clear. Avoid and take your money elsewhere if you value your time and sanity.

Use pirated unreliable software.

These people use tampered software so be very careful with your projects! They could suffer from inaccuracies or delays or worse! You get what you pay for in this case! They invested zero in proper software but are making you pay.
