Raiffeisen communication issues
Hello!
I am a Raiffeisen client from 2023. While staying at Hungary, I really liked Raiffeisen bank. Back at that time, it seemed trustworthy for me. However, my experience with Raiffeisen after I moved abroad was very unpleasant. I decided to close my account and got in contact with Raiffeisen through email, but the communication since then was very negligent and unclear. Over a year I've been writing emails and tried to close my account through different ways. Despite repeatedly informing Raiffeisen that I am abroad and physically cannot visit the branch, I received the instruction to visit a branch over and over again. It seemed like Raiffeisen customer service didn't proceed my emails correctly. I got similar generic answers all the time. I tried to call, but English operator didn't answer to me and call was cancelled. Then, I discovered online account closure option by myself because it was never suggested by customer service. But things got worse since then, because I got an answer from Raiffeisen that they will send me a letter by mail to my past address. I repeatedly asked them not to send a letter that contains my personal data to an irrelevant address, but they completely ignored my request. Even the complaint that I wrote to them before, they attached to the same letter. I am very concerned about this situation, especially because the letter with my personal information was sent to an address where I don't live anymore and don't have an access to. And Raiffeisen customer service (who wasn't just one person, but different people through multiple emails) seem not to care about the importance of handling personal data of clients. I am writing this publicly only because I really hope that Raiffeisen will finally review my case properly and provide clear communication instead of "copy-paste" answers. I really hope that the matter will be solved professionally

Quite possibly the least Customer satisfaction oriented Bank on the planet. As a customer of 22 years at Raiffeisen I have learned that in their eyes the customer is always wrong. Had enough now and will most likely change bank.
Do not use this bank
Do not use this bank. Hidden fees, inconvenient practices and overall terrible support. You're better off putting your money somewhere else...
Raiffeisen Bank is holding me hostage!
Raiffeisen Bank is holding me hostage!
Raiffeisen Bank is holding me hostage to their fees as they refuse to let me close the account remotely.
I live in Asia and do not have 1000USD just to fly to Hungary to close a bank account.
They are in effect forcing me to become a criminal.
Very strange experience…
Very strange experience… I visited their branch with an appointment to open a bank account, everything went well and I was supposed to receive a decision/further instructions the next working day. No reply for a week. I called and sent an email to the customer service, which they promised a reply soon. Still no reply after another week. What do I have to do to become a paying customer for Raiffeisen? :D

Excellent Customer Service and Easy to Use
I recently opened an account with Raiffeisen Bank, and the process was smooth and straightforward. The staff was very helpful, and the mobile app makes everyday transactions so simple. It’s a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable bank in Hungary.
Reliable Banking Partner in Hungary
Raiffeisen Bank has been my trusted financial partner for years. Their online banking system is fast and secure, and I can manage my accounts anytime without any issues. I also appreciate the transparency in fees and the professional customer support.
One of the worst bank service for…
One of the worst bank service for foriginers. Before closing my bank account bank did not give any information or request about my holding money and how to procceed to another account and simply they closed the account and I lost my 1 Million HUF. When I inquire about this, they asking to present at bank. But, when it comes to investment account they have facility even to transfer within the accounts for 20 million. But to get my money back they don't have facility and now I need to have VISA and travel ticket to travel to Hungary and get my money.
Poor service
Being a premium account holder I tried to reach CS on phone twice, both times after waiting 10-11 min quit and decided to visit branch office on Bocskai ut.
It is 9:15am, Friday.
Cashier is closed, 6 people waiting in a line, out of 5 windows only one person is there. And what she was busy with: receiving post, then a handy man came to fix some stuff.
Unresponsive Service and Unresolved Account Closure Issues
I have been extremely disappointed with Raiffeisen's customer service and account management. For several months, I have been attempting to close my account without success. Despite numerous attempts to contact the bank, I have received vague responses and experienced significant delays.
The bank insists that remote account closure is not possible, which is contrary to my friend's recent experience with a similar situation. Meanwhile, I continue to be charged the Premium monthly fee even though my personal manager has been unresponsive for months. She does not reply to emails or attend scheduled sessions in RaiConnect, making the situation even more frustrating.
Overall, this experience has been incredibly stressful and disappointing. I urge Raiffeisen to close my account asap as well as improve their customer service and account management processes to prevent others from experiencing similar issues.
Most frustrating experience, what a horrid bank. Would not recommend!
I have both a personal and a business account with Raiffeisen. I have only had negative experiences dealing with them. The customer service is absolutely atrocious the staff shows a complete disregard for your time and really could not be bothered to provide service.
We requested cards for our business account and were told that it would take up to a week to arrive. nearly two weeks, and 65 minutes spent waiting in the branch later, we still do not have any bank cards and no one can tell us when they actually will arrive, even though the cards have clearly been issued and are in existence because they show on the app, yet they are unable to give us at least a virtual card making it impossible to spend our own money. Speaking of the app, what a disaster, the app can not be downloaded on a device that was not purchased in the country Hungary, you can not use their banking services if you do not have the app because notifications and authentication is done via the app. We had to buy a phone just to be able to see what was going on in our accounts. On the topic of accounts, you go to the branch and wait for at least 30 minutes regardless of your appointment, so that they can make necessary adjustments to your account but the changes only reflect more than a week later, and in the meantime, the whole system goes bonkers.
For the sake of your sanity avoid this bank!
For the sake of your sanity, do not! Do don’t open an account with this bank! Imagine being paid your salary and you get it after 5 days or it goes missing for good one month! They had to pay me after one month of consistent pushing and arguing with them and they found the money automatically and decided to pay me back. This has never happened in my whole life that a whole salary that was paid to everyone else and yours got missing for over a month!!!! And my account was good and working! Just avoid this bank. Other people banking with them also complained of this same problem.
The bank closed my account with no…
The bank closed my account with no explanation given. I use the account to receive my salary. The worst things is my salary was rejected by the bank and they did not say anything when I called them to see if there was a problem. They said everything was fine. I then went to the branch and they had no idea what was going on and said they had to ask the bank office office staff which took days. All this time I am calling them to ask what the problem is and they say they can't see anything wrong with my account. I travel a lot and cannot come to the branch to resolve issues. I filed an official complaint which they did not even acknowledge. I finally got a letter that my account was terminated due to General Business conditions. I have no idea what that means. Please do not use this bank.I have never seen such unprofessionalism from most of the staff at their call centre who have no idea what they are doing. My takeaway is that banks should be able to speak to their clients professionally and be truthful if there are any issues. Banking in Hungary is an extreme sport but banking with Raiffeisen can lead to suicide. Don't do it. They also wrongly sent me a letter that I owed them money. This was just after I opened an account. That should have been my red flag to run. When I went to the branch to ask about the letter they were clueless.

Never have a deal with Raiffeisen Bank Hungary
My advice: never have a deal with this bank and his products. The bank and his stuff are deceiving customers!!! They opened a credit line without my consent while I was abroad although I had left a positive balance and didn't ask for a credit. And now they are collecting fee in amount of 50%, using the situation that I can't visit Hungary at the moment in person!!! At all my requests I haven't get any response. I am just watching every day how bank is pulling my own money from my account.
Old-fashioned unflexible bank that charges CRAZY fees
The most old-fashioned and unflexible bank I've ever been in, and for the very obvious reason to scam you. Charged me pore than 11,000Ft every month while I called them months ago to deactivate my card and remove the fees. On the phone they answer that they did not deactivate the package that came with the card. And they say I should go to the branch in person to do it. I'm abroad so no way to do that. No solution found. Had to empty the account and ask for an account closure. You'd better open a free Wise account, it comes with a free local Hungarian account. Stay away from established banks, unless you need money from them (in which case god save you ;-)

The brand does not play any role in this case.
It is important to understand that Raiffeisen Bank in England, Hungary and other EU countries are completely different banks, as well as the functionality of a personal account.
Think twice, dont rely on brand name
Thought it was a bank with advanced technologies, no, it is not. One card cannot have two currencies, you need to issue additional card for EUR, pay for account and issue fee, I cashed out 5 EUR and charged 10,22 as fixed fee. Customer service on the phone said I can cash EUR for free in Hungary but turned out I pay 630 HUF each time. Think twice or avoid any actions you are not sure about.
