Tenanted property

Tenanted property. Got an invoice from
Rapid for a door which they apparently boarded up at the request of the police and I called to ask for evidence of the work done and the fact I had no knowledge of this and why they have charged so much for works - (£240 for a board) I have no idea what it relates to and why the door was broken in the first place. The lady on the phone was absolutely horrible and rude and wouldn’t give any information as to why they attended and what they had done! Wouldn’t give me any evidence of receipts of what they did. Threatened me with debt recovery and court proceedings! I said I only got the invoice a day ago but calculated the 14 days from the date of the invoice. What a horrible company. I have no idea why the police continue to use a company with such bad reviews.

Terrible Company

I had a burglary at my home, and the back door was damaged. Police called this company out to secure it. When the fella arrived, I had to challenge him for ID, he was dressed like he had just come from the pub. He told me any work he needed to do would not be a chargeable, so I let him in and he fitted a couple of cheap plastic patio door catches to the inside of the door. He asked me to sign a job sheet at the time, which indicated I would be invoiced, so I questioned this and he again said I’d not be charged. He was at my property for 5 minutes and used less than £10 of parts, which I found the next day did not secure my door at all. Just over a week later I got an invoice for £306 and payment terms, 14 days!

I called them straight away and was greeted by a very rude woman who kept talking over me. She was like a robot and just kept repeating the same lines from her script. I told her I wanted a breakdown of the cost, as come on, £306! When I said I wasn’t going to pay, she went straight to talking about debt recovery and court costs! Good luck with that I thought and how nasty is that? To threaten someone like that, straight off the bat. What of course I meant and it didn’t even register with her, was that the insurance would pay it, not me.

So, notwithstanding the fact I was told there would be no charge, I wanted to rationalise this. I do get there’s a call out charge, an element of admin and parts… but this woman again, would not give me any explanation for the charge, which I know now was massively inflated, as I did some research. So, I hung up on her in the end; it was talking to a brick wall.

Like many, I just sent their invoice to the insurance company, they then paid me and paid the invoice. The inflated charges will work for them if your insurer doesn’t question it, which they don’t. But what if the insurance wasn’t paying? They deliberately state 14 days to pay, as they want late payments, so they can try and charge additional fees. There was a tiny discount for early settlement, which was laughable and this was an invoice, not a fine!

This is a poor company with bad morals. They clearly over inflate charges; they employ unhelpful and rude staff and attempt to use unfair terms to elicit payment. They are preying on the vulnerable for profit, it is as simple as that. I’ve complained to the Police Force who sent them and even they said, ‘they’re a bit of a nightmare but that’s who we have to use’.

My advice, if your insurer isn’t picking it up, don’t pay them. Get legal advice and stand your ground. They don’t quote for work up front, you don’t get a choice who to use as they have a contract with the Police, the work they do is very poor, they use unfair payment terms and the costs, I think they just make that up as they go along. Only a matter of time before they appear in the news headlines. Another rip off company with profit their only priority. Oh and now trying to get my review deleted!

Tenanted property DV

Tenanted property: T was victim of DV. Ex partner (P) phoned the police to say T had left children in the house alone. Police went round. Rapid Secure were engaged by the police to secure the property. As the landlord (LL) I was at no point informed of the incident. T told me briefly what had happened and that the locks were changed. I thought that was the end of the matter. I later received a phone call from the police demanding £264. I said it was nothing to do with me. I own the property but I'm not the occupier and it was the occupier that had the incident. I then got a letter from RS demanding money. No invoice so I don't know what they did. RS referred to the incident as if they had secured the property to keep me safe. I wrote to them twice explaining why I was not responsible and that the police did not have any legal right to claim the £ off me. RS wrote to me at the property address, not my correspondence address. I wrote to RS to inform them of my address, yet I received another letter at the property, not my address, threatening me with court. RS didn't even give me a new key to the property! I have no contract with RS and am looking forward to going to court.I don't even know the date of the incident as nobody has given me any of the details! Bring it on RS!

Very poor work

Very poor work. The police arrange them to board up a door as we were not in the country. They simply screwed a board to the outside (which did not fit) using normal screws. The property was not secured and they damaged the door beyond repair. They now have the cheek of wanting to charge c£300 for the shoddy work. I now have to pay for re-boarding and new door based on their shoddy workmanship. Avoid at all costs!

Very quick response

I was grateful for the quick response to have boarding up done within a couple of hours of a break-in. The work was done quickly and efficiently.

Shoddy work and certainly not secure

Had the misfortune to require a boarding up service. The police arranged for this company to come out. At the time i was relieved to have the smashed window boarded up even though it was not fitted correctly and had big gaps at the bottom. They fitted the board with screws from the outside enabling any one to remove them easily and gain access. The next day i actually removed the board cut it to the correct size and refitted with screws from the inside giving me a little bit more security. When i approached the company regarding the poor shoddy work their reply was it would have been quicker to smash the pain of glass next to it to gain entry rather than remove 6 screws.!!!!! Would never use again.

Avoid this Contracted Service for Emergency Boarding Up.

An elderly, living alone relative fell down the stairs. Called for help, doors locked and with no keysafe or access, neighbour called the police who gained entry by smashing back door glass window.
Ambulance arrived, soon after an extremely nice fella from Rapid Secure, who cut a small strand board panel, securing it over the lower half of the broken glass with a single coach bolt, washer and nut. Hardly secure. 10 minutes was all it took.

We now have a bill for £240. I replaced their boarding with a full panel and 4 corner bolts as a temporary measure and later replaced the toughened glass double glazed unit for £60.

As a legal point, no contract exists between the property owner and this company. We had no option as the service was already ordered by the police, other posts also indicate this.
My opinion ...Standard of workmanship mediocre, charges a blatant rip off.
At a revenue rate of at least £240/HR they can well afford to be nice!

Disgusting

Disgusting. Called out by the police to secure a small door window after a burglary. Recieved an invoice over a week later for £265 for a shoddy board with 4 screws that we then had to secure further ourselves. I cant believe the price they are charging for victims of crime. I cant afford that cost after having my workplace broken into and having had to replace things, add more cameras etc. The woman on the phone had clearly had an awful lot of calls of the same complaint, she knew exactly what to say without missing a beat. Very well rehearsed. Literally daylight robbery and for very low standard of work too. I cant even voice how angry I am.

Do not use this company to secure your house.…

Do not use this company to secure your house. Front door was smashed in. They fitted the old lock so when we came back a few days later we had to call a PROPER locksmith because we couldn't get in. The rear patio door had a piece of plywood stuck on with GAFFER TAPE. Ifthis is securing a house then I'm astounded. BEWARE.
