Avoid RCI
RCI is notorious for poorly packaging their shipments. I'm working with one of the most popular auto-shops in the Bay Area (that specializes in off-roading vehicles) and they said they try not to purchase from RCI anymore, for this very reason. I wish I had known this prior to purchase.
Sure enough, the sliders I ordered arrived in a box with a bunch of holes punch through it and are deeply scratch (not nearly as bad as so many other customers' - look to Toyota forums). Apparently, RCI tries to save money by poorly packaging their products and then tells customers (this has been reported by a large number of us) to just "buy a $25 can of black spray paint to cover the damages". They save money, and you pay full price for damaged items you need to repair. I'm less upset about my sliders and more upset about how many customers have experienced this. This isn't right.
If this happens to you, please know that according to the FTC customers never have to pay for return shipping of damaged products - not ever. Legally, you must be delivered what you paid for (a non-defective item). You don't have to pay insurance. You don't have to talk to shipping companies. You don't have to re-package the item if the box is thrashed (it will be) or even drop it off. File a complaint with the FTC if RCI makes this difficult for you. FTC will act as a free mediary and ensure your return/refund.
RCI never replied to my e-mail requesting a return, after their "buy a can of spray paint" suggestion. This is straight up taking advantage of customers (and its illegal). Beware, my friends!
