LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

I absolutly LOVE my Reading in Heels subscription box. I have been recieving it for about 8 months now and it is always such a delight to come home and open it. Every single month they have chosen a book I have never read and sometimes never even heard of so it has really opened my eyes to a lot of authors and genres I wouldn’t normally read. Also you get a few treats I have had coffee bags, tea, make up, stationery so many different little things. If it is something I won’t use I normally give these things to my mum so she is happy too! My boxes have always been on time and if there is any issues etc the Reading in Heels team are very helpful and nice. I like to support a small(ish) business and I love to read so for the price each month I think it is an excellent subscription box! I haven’t found any others at this price for what you get here. LOVE IT!!!

Great concept - appalling service

Great concept - terrible execution and even worse customer service.

I really wish I’d read the reviews on here before ordering! I’d advise others to be really cautious about handing your money over to this company as you’re unlikely to receive anything in return.

I signed up for a subscription at the end of last year, and my box never arrived. I got in touch with customer services and after a few attempts they did reply and send a replacement. I cancelled after this experience because I wasn’t happy with the way it had been handled.

However, earlier this year I decided to give them a second chance, so I ordered a 3 month gift subscription for my grandma, and reordered a subscription for myself.

2 of the 3 boxes in the gift subscription just haven’t arrived. My grandma has had to call me each time to tell me she hasn’t received it, which has been awkward for her because it was a gift. The first time round (again, after numerous emails to them- you literally have to bombard their inbox before you get a response) I was finally told it had been ‘lost in the post’ and a replacement was sent. The second time, again after 2 weeks of trying to get a response, I had an email to say that it had been returned the sender after being sat at the Royal Mail depot and not collected. I was really dubious that this was the case because my grandma is almost always home and hadn’t had a card through the letterbox, so I asked for a copy of their correspondence with Royal Mail. This request was ignored and I was just told that if I wanted it resent I would have to pay again for delivery. I have a strong feeling that they never sent it in the first place and are trying to cover their incompetence.

I’ve now cancelled my own subscription and would never order from them again, it’s essentially a scam.

Absolutely shocking service- they take your money, don’t send the goods as promised then ignore any attempt at contact. When they do eventually reply they’re rude and flippant. I’d advise anyone with a current subscription to cancel it and if you’re thinking of signing up- please don’t!

Update - following their response below (which as it turns out was just for show), I emailed them again and to no surprise there was no response, and no box arrived despite their promise to reissue another one. I contacted my credit card company to report them and claim the refund back that way, and also reported them to Trading Standards (currently being investigated)

I loved the idea of this service. but failed to deliver

I loved the idea of this service.

I signed up and paid money 4th September. Got an email acceptance, and confirmation of my order - nothing else - I waited.

2 weeks passed and I emailed and asked where my book was - nothing
another week passed - I tried again - nothing.

4 weeks go by and contact them again - this time via FB and their 'contact us' part of website (rather than their email address).

On FB I was openly & publicly 'told off' by their moderator for asking about delivery rather than talking about the book (the book I'd not received), and the contact us page finally told me that they collect money all month (so everyone who pays anytime in September) and then send the book the following month (October) so I would have paid twice (4th of each month) before receiving anything. As a business model this is different to other services - and this should be explicit. However all I was told (eventually 4 weeks after asking) was that I should have looked at the FAQ..

Having a different business model is fine - BUT EXPLAIN IT!!

They then (without me asking) cancelled my subscription. I asked them not to - they ignored me and 'thanked me for my feedback'

Our website does explain when boxes are sent out - it's always the first week of the month. We just can't send out boxes early unfortunately - we're a small company and all boxes are sent out at once so that it's a surprise for everyone. Most subscription boxes use this model, but as this seems to have been unclear for you, we will look again at ensuring it's very clear for new members.

TERRIBLE company

TERRIBLE company, do not order!! My books do not always arrive and they ignore my many attempts to contact them to either resend or refund the books that have not arrived. When they do reply they are incredibly rude. They just steal your money and don't deliver what you have paid for.

Lovely subscription box!

Really enjoy receiving my box every month and it has helped me read a range of books I would not have heard of before. Plus, the treats inside are lovely! Had a bit of an issue when I moved with the delivery address not updating properly but my email was responded to, hopefully all sorted now!

box arrived as expected and had some lovely treats in it. Liked that the book was one that I'd not normally choose - so felt good to challenge my normal reading habits. great mix of things (real wine gums - fantastic!). it really felt like a lovely luxury box of treats.

Absolutely love this box. They always choose books that are unique and varied in content, I can never put them down! The range of luxurious products that come with the box are always carefully chosen and it shows! I got the subscription as a birthday present. I love reading, beauty and presents, so this ticked all the boxes. I’ve had 3 boxes so far and they’ve all been excellent - books which I wouldn’t have chosen and interesting beauty and food treats.

I ordered this as a one off…

I ordered this as a one off subscription offer for myself when it was recommended in Stella magazine...but I've still not cancelled it,I love it too much! Twice its bailed me out when I've passed that months book on as a birthday gift and when it arrives it always lifts my spirit, totally love it...you guys are awesome 💐

I love this subscription box!

I love this subscription box!
I have had just 2 boxes so far and have loved them both. Neither of the books are ones I would have chosen for myself, but I have really enjoyed them. It’s a great way of broadening ones literary horizons. The gifts are good and I love the way the boxes are themed along with the chosen book. I have already recommended one of my friends who has now subscribed and have another friend who is going too.
Now looking forward to my 3rd box!

Absolutely love this monthly…

Absolutely love this monthly subscription! I have had quite a few over the years including beauty boxes egg but I would have to say this is one of the best. I love the little treats you get alongside the books, they are wonderful.

I have subscribed for 4 months and not had any issues with delivery. This is truly wonderful and I would recommend 100%.

This company is the bee's knees. Every month the parcel arrives, it's like a thoughtful friend put a care package for me! Of course you're paying for it, but I find it's the best value for money of book subscription service out there. As you can understand, I'm a fan myself and they're also a great gift for girlfriends!
