Visited Elm Park letting agency with my family to enquire about letting a house. Service was frosty and they told us they would contact us for a viewing of the property but they never did. Managed to get a viewing for another house and turned up at the appointed time and found out that the house had already gone! They had left a voicemail about 8 mins before the allocated time to let me know this. By that time I had already made my way to the house and was waiting outside. When I called them back I was told that they were using a 'first come first served' basis and so as I was the last viewing I wouldn't stand much of a chance. She then proceeded to offer me the original house that I had enquired about. When I informed her that this was the house I had come into their shop to originally see 2 weeks before she told me that the original offer had fallen through and was back on the market. She asked me if I would like to view it and I said I would be available the following evening. She said someone would ring me back to arrange. They never did.
It feels to me that this company has such a plentiful supply of customers they think they don't have to give good customer service as we will keep coming back as the rental market is going crazy at the moment.
THEY ARE WRONG!!!
Even if they offered me the best property at the greatest rate I wouldn't touch them. I wouldn't trust them to rent me a bike let alone a house!

They provided great service and always responded relatively quickly when I needed to contact them.

I can't speak highly enough of Elm Park Readings in particular Liz Curbishley who dealt with my sale.
I initially met with Liz and she dealt with everything relevant to the completion.
This included phot's marketing, selling and liason from start to finish.
In fact we had accepted a price on the first day of marketing.
Liz is of a very pleasant disposition, friendly, well presented, explains everything and nothing is ever too much trouble for her.
The property that sold had been in my family since built in 1949 and Liz was very respectful of that probably helped by the fact that Readings are a family run business themselves.
The rate of commission was even better than any competitors I dealt with too.
In concluding I would thoroughly recommend Elm Park Readings and would definatelyuse them againrequesting Liz again as my co-ordinator.

Bought a property through readings in Hornchurch and completed in November. Must say they were brilliant from start to finish. They were very helpful during the buying process and were very clear and transparent. I dealt with Terri mostly and she was always around to answer my questions. She always called back if she missed my call and above all she was just pleasant to deal with. Having been an estate agent myself at one point you can always recognise good service when you see it. Big thank you to all the team :)

I wanted to buy a property in Rainham. I viewed the property and put an offer. only to be told that the vendor liked another couple, so they have accepted a lower offer. fair enough. Two weeks later, I saw the same property, still being advertised online. I asked them if it is available. I was told yes and they asked me if I would like to view it. I said, I will put an offer. I was transferred to James, who told me what the vendor is expecting, I matched my offer to what the vendor was looking for. after a while, James phones me back to tell me that the offer has been accepted. I arranged/paid a solicitor the next day and my mortgage application was submitted within 4 days. I asked them to take the property off the market or mark it as SOLD STC. but I was told that they cannot do that until the survey has been carried out.
Everything was going very smooth, until Terri got involved (the lady who told me earlier that the vendor liked another couple and she would call me if anything would change).
Terri phoned me one week after the offer was accepted, and told me that they have received another offer, which is just 5k more, and asked me i I would like to match it. I don't like to be blackmailed, so I asked her, whats the guarantee that she would not receive another offer. and I will be forced to match again. I also told her that I have paid my solicitor and my mortgage application has also been submitted. she was not bothered about it. So I said to her that she can take the other offer.
I then noticed that, as soon as I told her that. the property was taken off the market. I knew something fishy was going on. I tried to speak with James, but this lady (Terri) would never transfer me to him.
After one week, I phoned again and spoke with Terri. I offered her 5k more than what the other person offered. I wanted to see whats her response is going to be. as expected, she said that it is too late now, as the other party has already arranged a solicitor and they are arranging their mortgage. I told her, I was in better position, as I had already applied for my mortgage. she, very halfheartedly said, she will put my offer forward. She didn't answer my phone for next 3 days.
I knew what the outcome was going to be, but I wanted to see what excuse she comes up with. she finally answered my phone and told me that because the other buyer had started the paperwork, the vendor has decided to stick with them. I asked her, that I had done the paperwork too, so why did they do what they did. her response was, the vendor liked them. I still don't understand how come the vendor always met the other couple and I didn't even know their name.
the conclusion is, I don't think it was the vendor who caused this. it was reading property services. I won't say it was because of my identity, but I won't rule it out either. Terri's role has been very fishy.

We have just completed on our house sale which Readings handled for us. Special thanks to Lee, Liz and James for their professionalism and constant communication in our transaction. They have gone over and above in ensuring we were kept informed of its progression at all times. Communication was key, which they maintained at all times.

Having lived in Elm Park for many years I wasn’t that keen on moving. However circumstances change and we eventually decided we had to move. We contacted Readings Estate Agents and never looked back. Terri visited us and gave a realistic valuation and arranged plenty of viewings and within a week we had agreed a sale in excess of their initial valuation. We never felt pressured and Terri made it clear to our buyer that we had yet to find our new home. We encountered some delays with the sellers of our new property but once we got the green light Terri was on the ball and got their buyer to complete promptly beating the stamp duty deadline which had looked highly unlikely for a long period of time. Terri also recommended we use Capstick, Dale & Partners to act on our behalf (selling and buying our new property) and we are very grateful for that recommendation as they were also first class. You need good people on your side in stressful situations and we certainly felt that was the case. Thank you Terri, James and all the team.

Reading were absolutely amazing from the beginning. When I was looking for a property I was very much under the impression that it was all about booking appointments for viewings and hanging up the line, with Readings they had a friendly open approach from the very moment I called for a viewing. Terri in Readings honestly made up the horrific journey to get our keys with the current climate and she went above and beyond to ensure we got our keys. She was available to chat whenever we needed her and was constantly keeping us in the loop throughout. Honestly cannot recommend Terri and Readings enough. Thank you for everything! I would NOT recommend Reading Estate Agents. I was always chasing the estate agent I never got phone calls back when promised I got told to "JOG ON THEN" by the manager when I said I was going to look for another agent if they cant keep in touch. I had to remind him I was a paying client, not his mate. He told me he doesn't call me back because he doesn't have anything to say even when I asked him no update, is still an update. He shouts on the phone doesn't listen and has a full argument with you, with not one ounce of professionalism. The service was appalling over a 7 month period. On the last day of my sale they still were asking for documents from which they have lost. I don't trust them at all and have no faith in their abilities. They never knew what was going on always had conflicting information. I feel so ashamed to have worked with this company and paying them a HUGE amount of money for abuse and drama throughout my process. My independent solicitor said they are appalling the way they have spoken to us. STAY WELL CLEAR! DO NOT USE THEM! They have tarnished themselves badly and have given Estate Agents rep everywhere a huge blow!!

Terry( Female staff)was absolutely amazing. We used Readings as they were local. I was most impressed with Terri when She came to see the house 1st.... some ideas to help sell the house and wasn't pushy....We didn't put the house on a market straight away.
When We did put the house on the Market, Terri was in charge of selling. Terri's very proactive and was very helpful and even though our sale wasn't straightforward, Terri didn't loose her cool but helped Us as much as She could. Terri liased between Us and our buyer and Our seller's agent. Would recommend Terri.

Just completed the purchase of a property via Readings and as difficult as the current circumstances are Liz helped us along the way, we did come up across a few obstetrical which were beyond our control however she was understanding and professional and had both our interest and the sellers in mind so a good go between. Readings are a friendly, family based estate agents. Liz and the rest of the staff are always on hand to help and provide support, throughout the whole process, nothing is too much trouble.
