RED Driving School 

Laura M in Aberdeen is the most phenomenal driving instructor there is.
After MANY hours of driving lessons for over a year with my previous instructor and no real progress, I had to look for a new instructor. I finally signed up to Red, and Laura came up as an instructor available in my area.
After just a month with Laura, my partner told me he didn't fear for his life anymore when I drove. And a few months later, I passed my test.
She was incredibly patient with little anxious me. Anything I did not understand, she would either explain to me or show me with the tools she had. She had the most creative ways - from stickers to toy cars to videos. When I made mistakes, she would analyse it, walk me through it, allow me to redo it and do it right.
Laura really would go above and beyond for her learners. And teaching beside, she was also amazing company and had a brilliant sense of humour.
I have my license now, and have my independence back, driving my tiny elderly Suzuki around, and it's all thanks to Laura.

My experience with RED Driving School has been extremely disappointing.
I have been driving abroad for over 15 years and already had extensive driving experience before taking lessons with RED.

The lessons were not because I needed to learn how to drive from scratch, they were primarily to familiarise myself with UK driving standards and most importantly, to have an instructor and a suitable vehicle for my driving test.

Unfortunately, just before my test, my instructor informed me that he would be undergoing surgery and would be unavailable for at least two weeks, meaning he could no longer accompany me to my driving test.

While I genuinely sympathise with anyone experiencing health issues and wish my instructor a full recovery, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of contingency planning and support from RED. When a student has invested considerable time and money preparing for a test, there should be a clear process for attempting to arrange an alternative instructor, particularly when the cancellation is due to circumstances entirely outside the student's control.

Instead, I was left to contact customer services myself in the hope of finding another instructor at very short notice. There was no proactive assistance, no meaningful effort to minimise the disruption, and no reassurance that RED would help resolve a situation that has left me at risk of losing my test date.
As someone who already had years of driving experience, the main value of these lessons was securing an instructor and vehicle for the practical test. Now, despite investing my time and money with RED, I find myself in exactly the position I was trying to avoid, without an instructor for my test and facing the possibility that much of that investment has been wasted.
I fully understand that unexpected illness cannot always be avoided.

However, the true measure of a company is how it supports its customers when unforeseen circumstances arise. In my experience, RED failed to provide the level of customer care and professionalism I expected from a national driving school.
I hope RED reviews its policies so that future students are not left scrambling to find an instructor days before their test after placing their trust in the company.

I heard from so many people saying that the driving licence in the UK is the hardest one in the world. Today I did it at the first attempt!! I couldn't achieve this without my instructor-Mrs Mariam Fazel. Her professional knowledge, patience, guidance, and encouragement throughout my driving lessons made me become a safe driver. Her clear explanations and calm teaching style helped me build my confidence. She concerns what is the learner's need or wanted to achieve, she is there to help and support. Thanks to her excellent instruction and support, I was able to pass my driving test. I would highly recommend her if anyone who is looking for a professional and supportive driving instructor. I learned to drive with Jeff (Sale, Manchester) and I am so grateful for the experience! Jeff is the most professional, knowledgeable, friendly and easy going instructor which created a safe learning environment from the first lesson. Jeff has given me so much more than just a driving license to take away from these sessions and we had some great laughs along the way. I highly recommend if you are looking for an instructor who genuinely cares about his students and who's main fulfilment is to help you grow through your driving journey.

I recently passed my driving test. My instructor was Glen. Glen is an excellent driving instructor, with remarkable patience. He has extremely deep knowledge of the local area and driving in general and clearly communicates this throughout the lessons. He is also a very funny and friendly person to drive with which can put you at ease.

Matt is the best teacher I have ever had in my life, he is extremely knowledgeable, calm and composed and has a great level of patience. I passed first time and after having other instructors who spend so much time going through things before you actually start driving, Matt gets you straight to the wheel. He gives you so much confidence and above all else has been a great support to me. I cannot recommend him enough.

Alaa Kosheta helped me become a confident driver again. I had never been a confident driver. I originally had a European driving licence and had always driven a manual car on the right-hand side of the road. Driving in the UK on the left, and in an automatic car, felt really scary at first.
However, thanks to Alaa, I am more confident than ever and now drive an automatic car for work here in the UK. I can't wait for my motorway lessons!

Serigne you absolute weapon; could NOT have passed my test without this guy! So patient, so calm and just an absolutely sound guy to learn to drive with, genuinely so thankful to have been yapping in a car with him for the past six months. Mistakes made during driving lessons debriefed so clearly and always in the same structure to avoid confusing me, gonna miss iPad time every week! 100% recommend him to absolutely anyone who wants to learn to drive!!

Had a wonderful experience with Red Driving School and my instructor Eduart Pashaj. He was very helpful, calm, and taught tips easily. He was supportive every step of the way and led me to passing my exam.

One of RED driving instructors car beeped me on narrow road when I was cycling. It had no space to over taking me. There wasn't learner diver driving. It was just driving instructor driving. Illegal bullies should not be instructors.

I took my test at 11:11am on 03/07/2026 at the Sheffield, Handsworth test site. I achieved a Pass with 0 minors...

That is all thanks to my driving instructor, Micheal Letts, who I found through RED. His calm and professional attitude worked wonders as when I first started I was really quite nervous, his approach to teaching brought my confidence up very quickly and my nerves were gone before I knew it. He handles your mistakes calmly, and carefully explains exactly what went wrong and ways to fix the issues at their root, helping you along the way. His recommendations on test times and if you are ready are accurate and should be taken into consideration. I think my result speaks for itself.

Outside of the formal business side of things, he's a great fella and a delight to chat with during lessons. I would strongly recommend him to anyone and everyone wanting to learn to drive.

Very happy with my experience with the company, more specifically my instructor Luke Gurling who was able to teach me a new car in very short notice and still help me to pass, would recommend as a driving instructor, makes you feel very comfortable behind the wheel.

My driving instructor Atia Farooqi was hands down the best you can find. Her style of teaching was extremely effective, she made confusing rules or complex roundabouts seem so easy to understand and I never forgot. She was very patient throughout my entire lessons, always giving me tips to improve and making sure I did not fall into bag habits, her experience in teaching shined. One of the most important point was the fact how easy she was to talk to, never a awkward moment and each lesson made me excited for the next. In just 6 months she took me a beginner driver to passing my test, I can't recommend her enough.
