Why you should use Reedsy to write !
I enjoy using this app so much. it allows me to see exactly how far I am in my story and how long it takes to achieve my goals. I started on google docs but it didn't allow me to really understand and see my progress. Reedsy allows me to do that and much more.

Steve Mead at Readsy was my graphic designer and completely crushed it! He did work on the last pages of my book, and exactly as I asked. He did some revisions, also. Great experience!
I had a great experience with Reedsy…
I had a great experience with Reedsy Discovery. The process was clear, professional, and thoughtfully handled. The review was well written. I feel like my book was taken seriously and treated with care. I’d happily recommend Reedsy to other authors.
It's really that good.
Let me start off by saying I am NOT one to write reviews. I enjoy Reedsy Studio that much to go out of my way to write a Trust Pilot review for this platform because it is really changing my (writing) life. For reference, I am a pantser/discovery writer.
First, I am extremely grateful for the free version of Reedsy Studio considering the amount of features it offers. Upgrading is also very affordable for those looking for advanced stats or further customization.
I am concerned that it's literally TOO good and Reedsy will end up putting a payroll up. Please don't ruin this! I don't know a single platform that has THIS great of value.
Some things that really stand out for me:
- The intuitive organization of planning documents and manuscript chapters. Reedsy Studio is EASY which is a HUGE win. I used Scrivener and found it to be too much - the learning curve is just not what I want to invest my time in. Studio has just enough of what I need and also gives me the ability to expand.
- Another feature that I have found extremely valuable is the manuscript PDF export option. WOW. Who would have thought exporting my text (even with only a meager 5k words at the time) would have been a ginormous motivator! It helped me visualize my story as a completed novel like YES, you CAN do this and this IS possible!
- The free stats. I like that I can put in my word count goal and it tracks how many words I put in/take out daily and tracks my writing habit. Again, a nice visualization when it comes to motivation.
- Editing. You can invite others to read and offer line edits. Helpful if hiring a freelancer from Reedsy Marketplace (which I also recommend).
When it comes to thing to improve, my biggest "issue" is the spellcheck. However, I think it is a simple update/fix. The dictionary needs to be updated. I have taken screenshots of words it has flagged as incorrect for spelling when they were not. Could just be a simple bug!
I also wish the Craft Vs Outline packages were explained a bit better or had previews for what they looked like - I am considering upgrading to try the new features. Ironically, I had a free month of Craft and never used it. I opened the Studio to use for the first time AFTER my trial ended. If they still offer it, I'd suggest trying it and seeing what you think!
I think the biggest question is -- why Studio over Google Docs?
- The organization
- Writer-specific design
-Useful writer-specific tools
- Ability to export into manuscript format
- Value
- Ease of use
- and, I'd rather support Reedsy than Google!
I absolutely love the book cover that…
I absolutely love the book cover that Reedsy artist Diego Sanguino designed for me—it exceeded my expectations in every way. The quality, creativity, and professionalism were outstanding. I’m now taking one of Reedsy’s free Interior Design courses, and it’s been incredibly helpful and well-structured. Reedsy truly connects authors with top-tier talent and valuable learning resources. I highly recommend Reedsy to any author looking for high-quality, professional support for their book.
Excellent editor
Excellent editor, easy to use and provides all i need to complete my manuscript, plus it connects you to the reeds community for next steps if required.

A thoughtful and professional review experience
The review process was professional, well-structured, and respectful of the book’s intent. The reviewer engaged closely with the work rather than applying a generic framework, which made the feedback feel thoughtful and specific. Communication was clear, timelines were met, and the final review reflected genuine attention to craft and structure. Overall, a serious and reliable platform for authors seeking considered editorial reviews.
Fantastic Experience
This is the third review of 2 of my books. The first review was very honest and very helpful and had received 3 stars. I went back and fixed a couple of issues and Reedsy did another review which gave it 5 stars. The other book received 5 stars and again both good comments and what to improve upon comments. These are so valuable to any writer and I truly appreciate Reedsy for all their help. I will be using Reedsy long into the future and will also be utilizing their editing and marketing talents as well.
Reedsy Removes Award-winning designers
Award-winning designer booted off the platform.
I have worked for leading publishers on their books and I teach design to students and authors. I've been with Reedsy since 2017 and have worked with many clients over the years. Imagine my surprise when, without warning, my profile no longer met their criteria, which is at least 3 years of experience (I have 15 years at art director level), and authors should have 5* reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, etc, thus making designers responsible for authors marketing their work when some of the clients are requesting lead magnets that are not placed on these platforms. Fortunately, I do have active clients with 5* reviews, but my profile is still inactive.
It seems Reedsy is encouraging designers to breach client agreements and Non-Disclosure Agreements so they can use that work to promote the platform - at least I think, but again, there is no reply to say otherwise.
I have also had no response to the email from customer service or any guidance on the criteria they use to evaluate designers.
I'm experienced enough to know a poor fit and not so unprofessional as to assume I'm beyond critical feedback, but when I met the criteria, have been given awards for my work and delighted my clients over 9 years, I am disappointed by the dismissal and lack of conversation. It seems like designeers have to create for the Cover Art Gallery on Reedsy not their clients, and some of which falls short of professional design.
'm far from alone in the removal and suggest that people reading this review, look at the Alliance of Independent Authors partners (who have endorsed my services) for better book designers.

The website was easy to navigate and understand the process especially as I am a debut author and this writing world is alien and new for me. The reply and response email were quick and I was updated very well. My book was chosen for a review within days of me joining which was pleasing and the level and depth of understanding of review was astonishing. I am very pleased so far !
good rate star5
The application is easy to use
The application is easy to use. Being a first-time author, Reedsy Studio has been a game-changer. The interface is clean and distraction-free, helping me stay organized with its progress tracking and goal-setting features. My favorite part is the track changes and also the ability to format my manuscript to professional industry standards instantly, saving me hours of headache when downloading.

Simple, clear, and very practical
Everything about the process is straightforward and easy to understand, with smooth communication throughout. Reedsy Studio is a solid platform that’s intuitive to use and simple to navigate. Up to now, it has been extremely useful, offering a clean writing experience, and the ability to export the book as a PDF is especially helpful.
5 Stars. Full Stop.
Reedsy Studio is a game-changer for independent authors. Clean, intuitive, and purpose-built for book creation, it handles everything from manuscript formatting to export with zero friction. The interface feels like it was designed by someone who actually writes books, not just codes software. Automatic chapter organization, seamless collaboration tools, and one-click export to multiple formats mean you spend less time fighting with formatting and more time writing. Best part? It's completely free. If you're serious about self-publishing, Reedsy Studio isn't optional. It's essential.
Awesome, seriously
Reedsy is the easiest writing website I have ever used. I'm only on the free plan, and it still has so much to offer. I'll probably upgrade to the pro plan at some point, but until it's needed, yhe free plan is plenty. My absolute favorite part.... everything automatically saves! I can work on the computer in one room and pull it up on my phone in another room with no issues! And the fact the even on the free plan you can work on as many books as you want, it's amazing.
It gives writers many options
I love how it's organized, you can see the word count per chapter, or the whole book you've written so far, and also you can see how many words you've written in different days. The best thing is that you can set a goal, and it calculates how many words you have to write per day to reach your word goal, what monitaves me. I've tried many websites, Word, Google docs, but this is my favorite this far.
As a self-published author
As a self-published author, I turned to the Reedsy Marketplace to find vetted industry professionals for my novel, and it proved to be an excellent decision. I was searching for a copy editor and found the perfect match in Erin C. She is an outstanding professional—an effective communicator, incredibly thorough, and a true collaborator. Erin completed the copy edit ahead of schedule, and her insightful notes and comments strengthened my manuscript in ways I genuinely appreciated. I’m already planning to work with her again for the next editing stage of my novel.
The Reedsy Marketplace itself is a fantastic resource, offering everything from copy editing and proofreading to cover design and interior typesetting. I’ve used Reedsy twice now and plan to return for additional services as I move into the final phase of my project.
The ordering and payment process was also seamless and straightforward: choose the service you need, receive proposals from up to five professionals, select the best fit, and pay half of the agreed fee to begin. Once the project is complete, you pay the remaining balance and leave a review. The entire experience was smooth, professional, and author-friendly. Highly recommended.
a family of amazing creatives and experts
Found a professional who had all the skills I needed at a realistic price. The process was dead simple and clear. Communication was easy.
The choice of experts is phenomenal and if one can't help they often recommend someone who can.
