Asked Refresh (Nelson) to provide an estimate and design ideas for our bathroom renovation. Indicated we had 30k to spend. Prospective customers of this company need to be aware that until you pay a deposit, the only thing they will provide in writing is an estimate of the cost. Not even a basic cost breakdown, scope of works or simple design. In the end we went with one of the 3 other companies that provided all the details and weren’t 42k.
I had a very disappointing experience with Refresh Renovations. What I thought was a reputable company turned out to be little more than a marketing shell that simply funnels jobs to individual franchisees — who then disband, disappear, or close their companies when issues arise.
In my case, I was promised a 10-year warranty on drainage work. But when the system failed just 3 years later, I found out the franchise had shut down, no warranty honoured, no PS3 documentation, and no way to enforce responsibility. Even the Refresh HQ contract is worded in a way to completely distance themselves from any liability.
I trusted the Refresh brand, not just an individual. Yet now I’m left with unresolved structural issues, thousands of dollars out of pocket, and no real accountability from anyone.
I strongly advise anyone considering Refresh to think twice — once the job is done, you may be completely on your own.
Refresh renovations project “managed” my re roof a couple years ago now and we’ve been trying to get them to come to the table and fix the absolute mess the cow boy roofer Hightop roofing LTD of Christchurch did.
They leave you in the lurch as soon as things go wrong all you get is generic reply’s from head office “we’re working on it, thanks for reaching out” it’s all lies. They even cut their franchisee off so they wouldn’t have to deal with my problems anymore. BEWARE of refresh absolute scam they take the lowest bidder and the worst tradies and when it goes pear shaped they wash thier hands of you
