I have been trying to change a reservation for a return train journey from Berlin to Leipzig in February, 2023 for month now.
Despite three online enquiries with the same automatically generated reply:-
Dear customer,

For urgent enquiries, please give us a call.

You are welcome to make your booking with us. To do so, please give us a call on +49 (0)30 311 68 29 04
And countless phone calls to the permanently engaged ‘urgent’ number I am still waiting for a response.
Their customer service is nothing short of appalling.

Deutschebahn worst in EU

I had a ticket with ICE 529 from Dortmund to Munich on August 30 at 7:23 am with seat reservation. It was supposed to be a direct train from Dortmund to Munich. I had a heavy suitcase and a small bag and a laptop. That is why I wanted a direct ticket. When I went to Dortmund Hbf, I was informed that ICE 529 was not running from Dortmund and I should go to Essen to catch it. Fortunately, I was early enough at the station and I went to Essen and got the train there. In Essen they said the seat reservations don’t work and we can sit anywhere. Near Frankfurt a DB employee told me that the seat I was sitting on was reserved from Frankfurt to Munich and I have to go to wagon 3 or 4. Then I had to collect all my stuff and move. Because of this I forgot my jacket in the train and lost it. When I complained to one DB employee about the disorganized things and if I can get some money back because you have changed my direct ticket to an indirect one he became very rude and aggressive.
Suppose I wasn’t early enough in the Dortmund Hbf to catch ICE 529 on time in Essen. What would have happened to my ticket? Perhaps they wouldn’t accept any responsibility for it. I had a flight to catch from Munich and I’d have missed my flight. I expected a comfortable journey with a direct ticket and seat reservation because I had to work on the train but DB ruined it. At least DB can teach their employees some social conduct and the right way of dealing with customers when they cause so much stress and inconvenience.
