Beware of this company

Following a phone call a representative from Renewables Services called and inspected our solar installation which was working correctly. A so called electrician inspected our system and following interrogation of the inverter advised that there were 93 errors showing on the digital screen. He also went on to say there is also a battery problem as that is showing up on the LED screen on the battery and a bare wire showing on the inverter that is dangerous and could give an electric shock. He went on to stay I required a Grid Regulation Unit to be fitted being as the Inverter was sending a to high voltage to my plug sockets. He went on to say that his report will highlight the problems and the report will be sent to the company who I receive my FIT payments from. This means he said will give cause to the FIT payments being suspended till I have the problems fixed at a cost of £2725. I could not get rid of this bloke and felt he was putting me under duress to have them carry out the work so I paid a deposit to get rid of him. I since have had my deposit refunded to me. I subsequently requested another company to carry out an investigation and they found there was only one issue which was a bare earth wire and there is no need for a Grid Regulation Unit.

Very questionable practice.

I was contacted by someone at Renewables Services who advised that it was time for my solar panel system to be checked, and was assured that this was a standard service that would be free of charge. The person I spoke to seemed to think it necessary to check that I was under 85yrs of age (I am 82).
A pleasant young man called John duly arrived 2 days ago and checked the inverters and read the installer's certificate. He observed that I have the maximum number of solar photovoltaic panels allowed (19). But when he discovered that I'd had an additional 12 panels installed together with a storage battery (for which I had a second installer's certificate), he decided that this must permitted as it is a separate system. John said the installation of additional panels was a concern as the system was over-loaded and without the aid of a voltage regulator is very likely to result in a costly failure. I was assured that the regulator would not be subject to VAT and could be supplied by Renewables Services for £2,750. I told John that I needed time to consider this as I have other expenses. Despite his advising that the regulator must be a priority, I told him that I would not act hastily in this matter.
I subsequently contacted the very reputable firm that had installed the second set of panels who advised that I do not need a voltage regulator, and that had I needed one, it would cost considerably less than £2,750.

The benfits of a second opinion.

Following a cold call a representative from Renewables Services called and inspected our solar installation which was not working correctly. A very amenable engineer inspected our system and following interogation of the inverter advised that one of the solar panel strings was not working and that to rectify the probable issue would cost £3775.00. As I will not sign anything immediately without time to consider I asked for a report and quote to be emailed to me. Nothing has ever been recieved. I subsequently requested another company to carry out an investigation and they found an issue with a cable connection which they replaced and the entire system is now working correctly all for £140.
I leave you to form your own conclusions as to the benefits of employing Renewables Services.
