They are bunch of scammers thief’s I…

They are bunch of scammers thief’s I reserved a car from Economy Bookings I got my price I got my Voucher , going to the counter and they tell me that I need to buy insurance I showed my insurance policy with 500/500 full coverage they told me that I need third policy coverage for 1 million which nobody ever told me for 30 years that I’m renting when I travel , I was shocked and when I told them to cancel the contract they told me that I’m going to loose my deposit $300 I was not alone they were other 4 couple fighting over the same situation , I was stuck in the meadle of Fort Laudardale calling other companies and when I got the car from Fox rental they told me they never heard of it and they were satisfied with my insurance. So please don’t look at the prices they are there just for attraction , they should go to jail for fraud and laying to the people.

SCAM

SCAM! Beware there will be $500 In additional fees once you paid for your rental in full online! The fees are ridiculous. The $120 online that you are paying doesn’t include “state fees” and everything else!

Warning - Scam Operation

A 2 day car rental was booked via VIPCars app back in January 2024. Provider on my confirmation was noted as ‘RentaFlorida’ and price quoted on collection was $45.

Shuttle took us to an offsite area of the airport, the shuttle driver helpfully pointed out the office of ‘RentaFlorida’ which we would not have found otherwise. No signage anywhere giving any indication of this business and an office in a very run down / shabby presentation which did not fill me with confidence on arrival.

Having presented my reservation details and drivers licence I was informed that the price I would have to pay today would be $290. I questioned this and pointed out on my printed invoice where it stated $45. I was initially informed that it was ‘Collision’ and ‘Theft’ insurance. When I pointed out that this was included as per my reservation document I was then told that this was a ‘Florida Tax’, also an additional tax because I had a ‘UK Drivers Licence’.
I again questioned the legality of this and asked for an invoice which was unable to be provided. The attendant then offered to reduce the price to $250 but again could not provide an invoice or any reasonable justification for the additional costs.

I then left the establishment having informed that I did not have confidence in them as an organisation. I needed to make arrangements to return to the airport and to make a last minute car rental booking which cost me additional money.

I would urge anyone not to use this company as they are basically scamming tourists out of money by hyper inflating imaginary taxes on individuals. I’m thankful that I stood my ground and followed my instincts however I can understand that out of desperation to get a vehicle some people would pay up these funds when requested.

Through economybooking

Through economybooking, for my budget, rentaflorida had nothing more interesting. To be safer, I also paid full cover through economy booking. Everything seemed fine until the moment when at the address 2600 sw 3rd avenue Fort Lauderdale I found myself in front of a very arrogant Hispanic employee. After more than 35 minutes of waiting, he refused to hand over the car that I had reserved for as long as I did not pay the supercharged insurance of his company. With an extremely aggressive and brutal behavior, he imposed the purchase of insurance. It got to the point where he called the contract with economybooking worthless. Being tight-traped I paid and after taking my photos before picking up the car, I left. The return was with its own surprises. The same employee took photos of the car, and so did I. Before I even reached the airport, an e-mail arrived from RentaFlorida with the photos and some very small damages in the car which this person did not notice in the photos before receiving the car and with his bad intention he noticed them now. This is an almost criminal action by an employee who is in the service of his clients. I am posting photos of myself and his before and after receiving and delivering the car and they are identical. In the photos before pick up, he did not declare or pointed the small damages that he "found" very quickly after drop out. This is a very low and unprofessional gesture from this person and the company he serves. In my opinion, I would advise all other companies such as Economybooking to abandon this company with a value of 0 and for anyone thinking of renting with RentaFlorida to think twice. well before. Abandon any condition, even if it means to walk to Florida. Advice with a clear conscience. There is no possibility for less stars. This company doesn't even deserve to be talked about.

A bunch of scammers!

Don’t touch this company with a barge pole! They are evil. Their practices are criminal. They will exploit you! The voucher issued by Discover Cars said ‘pay at location’ $375. Renta Florida demanded $2,005 and refused to release the car unless we paid. The staff use menacing tactics and misrepresentation.
In addition, they gave us a car with an expired tag so we couldn’t drive it from half way through the rental. They refused to do anything about this and forced us to return it when it was illegal to drive.
Overall, a disgusting and despicable company!!!

Scam using small print and international license

I found Renta Florida in Miami through DiscoverCars. After a detailed study and chosing an option that had everything included the price was still very appealing; however it had strings attached and a scam. They were looking for excuses to add additional charges. In our case since in Florida it is not mandatory, we did not get an international drivers license which was in the small print. The rental company did not have a problem renting the car to us without an international license but used the excuse to more than double the cost. As a tourist at that stage with all the family waiting you have little time to replan everything so we ended up paying. Since the small print also allowed for a US license I asked if I could use my California license and they said that would be a different rate that would have even more cost. The person at the desk was very blunt and defensive, we were not allowed to take pics of the contract or make any notes about this issue. To top it off, the rental car arrived over two hours later claiming it was on its way but there was traffic. Their low prices are a hook but beware they will find ways of adding charges. Beware of all the small print requirements and being tempted by unusually low prices as you will end up paying market and more.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE!
We hired through discoverycars.com (originally named Sonic rentals when I booked the car hire)
They rented us an un road worthy car as the indicator and break light were broken.
Their advice was to go to a mechanic, which we did, but they couldn’t fix it as it was beyond repair.
They stopped answering our calls/ messages when we asked for a replacement. Said we had to drive back to them to exchange it, in a dangerous vehicle. At the time we were over 200 miles away.
Communication / attitude was appalling.
Like other reviews, original booking was a good price but ended up paying £1600, and have had none of that returned.
Please don’t think cheap is good, go with a reputable brand!!
