We lost everything to a house fire and…

We lost everything to a house fire and were grateful to survive. Our insurance recommended AFR Furniture Rental, but the experience only added to our trauma. The first set of furniture was substandard—some items were clearly from the dollar store.

Soon after, our daughter developed a rash that lasted for months. It wasn't until my husband spotted a bedbug on her bed that we realized what was happening. The house we rented had been vacant for over a year with no signs of infestation, so we traced it back to the rented furniture.

AFR denied responsibility and delayed picking up the items. The landlord ended up paying for fumigation, and we’re still unsure if it will come out of our deposit. This whole ordeal reopened emotional wounds from the fire.

I would never recommend renting furniture, especially in a time of crisis. What was meant to help us recover only made things worse.

Flea market leftovers

My experience with this furniture rental company was nothing short of a nightmare, especially considering we rented their supposedly "VIP assortment." The furniture they offered was shockingly ugly, extremely low in quality, and incredibly outdated. It's as if they scavenged the leftovers from a flea market that had been picked clean by vultures.

Even though we paid for the so-called VIP assortment, it was less appealing than anything we had ever seen before. The bed, which we explicitly mentioned was the most important item to us, turned out to be the worst of all. When we voiced our dissatisfaction, the company's response was astonishingly indifferent. They suggested we buy our own bed to address the issue.

To make matters worse, the mattresses of both the bed and the sleeper sofa were very old and looked beyond used. It was evident that these were not maintained properly, and the level of discomfort they provided was unacceptable. We've slept in many hotels and B&Bs, all of which offered much better bedding and service than this company.

AFR Furniture rentals near New York

AFR Furniture rentals near New York. The original furniture I rented from AFR to furnish a rental house for one (1) year were horrible. The fabric sofa had cat hair on it along with rat droppings.
The (3) king size mattress smell like urine, they were beaten down…
I reported it to my agent and AFR came to remove the items. The workers testify to the condition saying it smells terrible.
Yes, they were replaced, but I was dissatisfied with the quality. I had to purchase covers to cover all furniture including mattress.
I would be very careful with sleeping or sitting on bed, and chairs. Would I use this company again? No

Worst place ever

This is my daughter and grandson.

Hi friends. We need to have a talk about how a grown man insulted my child with a disability, and got a slap on the wrist.

I will insert my sisters words that she wrote for me as I was in tears about the situation that happen!

We called the CEO of American Rental, and he apologized, and said he will call us back with what action he would take to handle the matter. Well he never called, so we called him! And all he said is that “I talked to Buddy and he said he was sorry. I told him not to do it again.”

That was it! That was all we got from the CEO of a 100million dollar company, but never anything from the Buddy the one who insulted my kid with a disability. So now I’m ready to raise hell.

Here is what happened…….

“I have never been so pissed at management as i am with American Rental in Rensselaer. My sister, her husband & my 4 year old nephew went in just looking at new couch for the extra suite they have in their home, when the manager comes up and instantly is rude. Asking personal questions which they were answering but still wanted to look around for a bit before deciding if they saw anything they’d actually want. London (my nephew) has sensoring processing disorder, speech impediment & suspected autism, is the sweetest kid you’d ever meet, and has come so far with wanting to talk to strangers and getting out of his element - proceeds to talk to the manager Buddy- when all the sudden Buddy tells London he’s talking to much, and starts waving his hands in London face in a mocking manner. London being a kid, continues to try and talk to the man and Buddy once again is rude and tells London he doesn’t even know how to enunciate his words and proceeds to talk gibberish to him, told him to shut up that he wasn’t a teacher and mock him again. IF THAT WASNT THE ICING ON THE CAKE, Buddy asks my sister if London was her only child, she says yes and he says “thank god”. My sister has PCOS and has a hard time conceiving, it’s super inappropriate thing to say to someone not knowing if they’re actively trying for a child! They all leave the store, my sister is in tears, London asks if he talks too much in a sad voice and she calls me crying. The person that I am, I call the store and start yelling at him when he tried to gaslight me and say that he didn’t mean it, and he tries to ”play around with kids”. So if you ever decide to go to that store, PLEASE DONT. The disrespect to a CHILD and to others is insane to me. they should be ashamed!”

Short Term Furniture rental

We purchased a new home in Wilmington NC - However the construction was not finished in time so we needed to rent an apartment on a short term basis. We put our furniture in storage and needed to rent furniture for this apartment. We worked with Sara at AFR - and we couldn't be happier! We hit a lot of snags in our move but Sara and AFR were both willing and able to accommodate any change we did and were so flexible! If you need short term furniture rental I would recommend you reach out to AFR and work with them. If you can I would work with Sara as well!
