The facilities and privacy were…
The facilities and privacy were exceptional! I felt like we were the only people in the world! I could have sat in the bath all day. We had a mix of weather and it didn’t bother us. We took a 5yr old and a 2yr old, bit of a squeeze in bed so we made a bed up on the floor with a sleeping bag we bought just in case. There was lots to explore locally especially if you do national trusts extra. The kids never behaved or slept better proving technology is the biggest evil! The only problem we had was figuring out the app to do the walks from the doorstep just couldn’t work it out sadly despite instructions. Maybe old fashioned written ones in the room for just in case would help. Thank you again it’s now forever in my memory x
We stayed at the Exmoor location
We stayed at the Exmoor location. We were really looking forward to our stay as we had seen so many incredible reviews and images online. This was for my partners 30th birthday. However, we feel we could only give the cabin 3*. We had some very positive experiences I.e the outdoor bathtub was an absolute delight, the water pressure/temperature was brilliant and consistent for a remote cabin, lovely towels, and the location itself is stunning. Oh and the bedding was divine!!! However, the experience was a little overshadowed by a few major things -
We didn’t expect our cabin to be completely surrounded by sheep and baby lamb, so much so that when walking up and through to the cabin it was virtually impossible to not step on sheep poop. We love animals and really don’t mind a few sheep roaming around. We also don’t mind a bit of poop, we aren’t precious people, but there were a lot of sheep and abnormal/copious amounts of poop (we couldn’t even take a step on the grass without standing in it!!) …and when you have a dog and a toddler - it wasn’t ideal at all, especially when walking into a small cabin with limited space for outdoor shoes to be stored. This leads me to my next point, the field we were in could only actually be enjoyed to look at from the window, and not be enjoyed properly I.e being outside sitting as a family - as my daughter was unable to sit on the grass, or play outside at all due to all the poo, as it was immediately surrounding the cabin too on the bark, on the steps etc. We also had poop (a lot of it!!) on our BBQ cover so it massively tainted the experience for us before we even started with having to clear it off and wash our hands a lot, and keep our eyes on our daughter and dog 24/7 to ensure they didn’t step, sit or eat it - nightmare!
I am also pregnant and it’s not recommended to be in close proximity to sheep/baby lamb during this season due to infectious disease - and they were very close, often coming up to the cabin and weeing on the bark outside the chippings etc. the risk is small, but during pregnancy I would have purposefully avoided booking to stay here knowing this was a possibility. I felt on edge the whole time!
However!! We wanted to remain positive and enjoy the inside of the cabin - and although cute, when removing the ability for our daughter to play outside, it was unfortunately it was much too small for anything other than a couple. Our dog was excellent around the sheep but unfortunately had to keep him away as much as possible from the sheep poop also, due to the fact we didn’t want him walking any poo into the cabin that we had to walk around/sleep in. We did find ourselves quite frustrated at this whole ordeal, unable to relax, and generally felt unclean walking around in the cabin; we always ensured shoes were off before walking in, but did not know if the rug was clean from previous people etc as it’s not a material that you usually clean as such - which is not ideal when you have a toddler crawling around the floor etc!
To be balanced/fair, I will say, It’s worth staying as a couple (where you can control more for stuff like this) and not as a family. Though, the other ones might be different.
Something less major, but just a bit of general feedback, we felt as though the inside of the cabin near the bed/window area was absolutely beautiful and well kept. However, the cooking/sink/appliances/cupboards area was a less sleek/clean/luxury compared to what we saw on images - not a big deal by any means but a slight difference from expectation, though I probably wouldn’t mind this at all if it was slightly less per night tbh. For the money, you expect these touches to be luxury.
All in all, we feel a little disheartened at spending £425 on two nights, which now feels quite overpriced for what we managed to enjoy.
However, please do not let this review stop you from visiting. Minus the sheep and sheep poop everywhere (as I’m sure it’s different in other locations) it could have been a really really lovely, unique stay overall x
Perfect Off-Grid Birthday Retreat
If you’re looking for a peaceful, off-grid few days away to recharge, Rest & Wild in the Yorkshire Dales is the perfect place! I stayed in “The Birch” and I saw one person walk by the whole time I stayed there. It was remote, serene and just wonderful. It was clean, well kept and easy to find. If you’re like me and don’t particularly like camping but love exploring and relaxing “in the wild”, this place will absolutely do the trick. No WiFi, poor signal… cut off from the world! The outdoor bath was my favourite! Something magical about relaxing in a steaming hot bath outside, listening to the birds and reading a book. I can’t wait to visit again! Would highly recommend over and over again. Thank you.

Magical time with baby and dog
We had such a magical time with our 11mo old baby and Labrador staying in the Sparrow cabin in Shropshire. Came back so refreshed and energised. Parents- note there are no plug sockets and space is limited so not able to use plug in chargers/monitors. Think of this as a step up from camping. We left the window open a crack to keep an ear out and this worked perfectly. Popped baby down inside in the evenings and spent our time with a few drinks in the copper bath then cosy up with blankets round the firepit with the dog. We all slept surprisingly well in the same room, baby in travel cot, dog in her bed on the floor- not a peep from either. Would have been tough in the pouring rain but we were really lucky with the weather. Pack light as every inch of this place is used! Would definitely come again in the summer.

Absolutely stunning views in the cosiest cabin. The most peaceful surrounds for an off-grid few days. We loved the outdoor fire-pit and bath, would highly recommend to anyone!
A Yorkshire Dales truly unforgettable experience
My partner and I have just returned from a weekend stay at the Yorkshire Dales location.
The location itself is perfectly nestled amongst miles of scenery. A perfect little spot to forget about the every day and just get lost in your own little bubble.
We didn’t bump into another soul during our stay, unless we wanted to!
Mornings and evenings spent looking over the breathtaking views and the only sounds to be heard were those of the local wildlife.
We ventured out to the Jervaulx Abbey and walked the Jervaulx Abbey loop recommended in the rest and wild welcome pack. We were not disappointed! And also… if you want a decent portion of hearty pub grub…the cover bridge inn is the one! You will pass this on the abbey loop walk, or it is less than a 10 minute drive from the cabin.
The cabins themselves are beautiful! They really do provide a rustic and stylish touch of luxury within a forest setting. The windows perfectly positioned to laze in comfort and take in those views. Seating both inside and out, shower, outdoor copper bathtub, fire pit, plus all the accessories you need for everything!
We have had a truly unforgettable experience and I may have shed some tears whilst leaving!

We stayed in the Rowan cabin in the Yorkshire Dales location. The interior was beautiful down to the tiniest detail. The space was so well thought out and was incredibly cosy and warm. The outdoor copper bath was a real treat even on the coldest of evenings. Being so close to nature was so very special. We loved hearing the owls at night!
We are definitely going to stay again and would highly recommend this for a relaxing break for 2.
Rest+Wild Exmoor is magical
Rest+Wild Exmoor is magical! The spot is stunning. You get the most beautiful views from the windows in the cabin. The sunsets and stargazing are incredible. The cabin is incredibly cosy and private. The location is great for nearby walks, beautiful countryside and a few pubs. We had the most amazing long weekend here and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys being out in the countryside.

Pure Bliss - ‘wintering’ at its best .
We stayed at Rest & Wild, Shropshire for my Husbands birthday. We arrived to no less than I had hoped for, what we couldn’t have expected was the level of pure relaxation. 3 nts of stunning scenery, cosy reading, firepit food, hot tea, beautiful toiletries & hot outdoor baths. The perfect retreat after walking the stunning hills at long mynd & carding mill. We both feel we’ve breathed properly for the first time in over 12 months . We will definitely be back ( ideally tomorrow ) . Thank you Rest & Wild , what a treat .

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Rest & Wild, and it was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the tranquil countryside, this retreat is the perfect place to disconnect from the chaos of daily life and reconnect with yourself and nature.
From the moment I arrived, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. The space is beautifully curated, blending rustic charm with modern comforts, creating an atmosphere that is both cosy and inspiring. Every detail, from the soft linens to the thoughtful amenities, has been carefully considered to make you feel at home.
The surrounding landscape is breathtaking—rolling hills, serene woodlands, and a stillness that soothes the soul. I spent my mornings enjoying tea on the porch, listening to the birds and watching the sunrise, and my evenings under a blanket of stars.
What sets Rest & Wild apart is its emphasis on mindfulness and simplicity. It’s not just a place to stay; it’s an experience that encourages you to slow down, savour the moment, and truly live. Whether you’re seeking solitude, creativity, or just a break from the noise, this retreat offers the perfect setting.
I left feeling refreshed, reconnected, and inspired—proof that sometimes, all you need is a little time in nature to find yourself again. I can’t recommend Rest & Wild enough, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
Peace and nature
Had a wonderful 3 night stay in the Sparrow in Shropshire. Was the perfect place to rest and unwind after Christmas and get away from the rush of everyday life. The cabins are so cosy with the log burners and the timing of the snow just added to the effect for me! The only sounds were the wildlife and the rain on the cabin roof overnight. Highly recommend getting the food hampers too. These were delicious and so handy to have provided. The cabins had all the essentials you could need and nothing more which was so refreshing.
Peaceful oasis
We had a fantastic, restful break, nestled in the wood and away from the world, with the only noise coming from the pheasants and birds in the trees. What a wonderful place. Thank you
perfect experience
this was such an incredible getaway! the customer service was top notch in terms of responding quickly, giving great local recommendations, and providing a quality experience. i can’t recommend them enough if you want a cosy weekend away :)
Peaceful get away
We stayed here for a last minute get away recently and had a brilliant time. The cabin itself was beautiful with everything you need for a short stay, they even provided a wheelbarrow to take your bags to the cabin! You’re literally surrounded by nature with stunning views from the cabin so it’s incredibly peaceful, there are some lovely walks nearby and even more just a short drive away. The communication before was brilliant and they share a pack which includes everything you need to know and clear maps to find the location of the farm/cabins. It was such a lovely weekend, will definitely be returning again!
The Fern
The Fern was a wonderful cosy stay with an incredible view. The cabin was super clean, modern design and a very peaceful environment to switch off. Little touches that made our stay easier from the hosts, like the torch outside, trolley for belongings etc. made for a seamless and relaxing stay. Thank you!
We had the best time away in Exmoor
We had the best time away in Exmoor. The cabin was immaculate, the setting was beautiful and Kate was extremely responsive. In particularly after an item was left in the cabin, Kate and the team were amazing at ensuring it got back to us safely. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
Peaceful and tranquil weekend
We just came back from a really lovely stay in Exmoor. The cabins are wonderfully presented with everything you need. The views and location…..wow! Absolutely amazing and so peaceful. This is the kind of place you don’t really want to leave, just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet and completely switch off. However, if you do explore I’d highly recommend The London Inn for lunch/dinner, Lynmouth for a visit and also Tarrr Steps for a short but beautiful walk with a stop at Tarr Farm Inn at the end.
A perfect weekend
It was faultless … the cabin is beautifully set up, every detail has been thought of, the sheep made great neighbours and the views and sunsets were magical. It was Rest and properly Wild, like another world. The London Inn down the road has real fires, delicious food and a warm welcome after our long walks across the moor.
