I came to them with a ten-year work gap (thank you, Bermuda immigration laws), a divorce in progress, and a career history that looked more like a beautifully chaotic buffet than a straight path — launching a successful martial arts academy, running my own photography business, volunteering, consulting, raising a daughter, living overseas… You name it. I was worried no one would know what to do with that story or how to explain that I couldn’t work because the government literally didn’t permit me to.
