I booked an appointment with Rich & Carr mid-January. When I arrived the solicitor didn't know what the appointment was far and struggled to find the paperwork I had sent them as preparation for our meeting.

They hadn't bothered to read the paperwork and were totally unprepared for our meeting.

All they did was double the price of the services I was meeting them about.

They are also refusing to act on my instructions as they are seemingly incapable of putting anything in the postbox.

I would avoid this company as if they had a bubonic plague.

I am writing as someone on the other side of their services. Their solicitor actively ignored our solicitors emails, delayed the process unnecessarily and as a result it took 6 months to complete a house sale that consisted of first time buyers moving into our house and us moving into an empty house that rich and carr were managing the sale of. The solicitor never answered emails directly, missed out information and finished at 3 every day making it very difficult to get anywhere. She would frequently not reply till just before 3, despite having had multiple calls and emails in the day.
I would never ever be involved with Rich & Carr solicitors again; if we ever move again I would not buy off someone using this solicitors. The delays they caused made me ill with stress. No consideration of how their lack of actions affect those involved.
Because of their slack advice and poor organisation we needed to have 2 sets of solicitors, adding to our expense and stress levels
Avoid

Absolutely diabolical. The solicitor dealing with my fathers will takes many many weeks to respond to my questions, sometimes as long as 10 weeks, if at all. She accepts invalid and false forms of evidence as receipts for supposed expenses against my father’s estate.

She has chosen to ignore the fact that my sister has lied on the grant of probate which is an offence. She failed to inform me that my family had withdrawn over £10,000 from my father’s bank account after his death until two years after his death.

I put a complaint in and they have all closed ranks and stated that there is no case to answer because despite the fact that we are now 3 years in to this case and I have had to do investigations myself which uncovered other bank accounts of my fathers that had been emptied and hidden, false documents and other problems they claim the solicitors actions have not delayed completion of the estate and therefore she has done nothing wrong. Absolutely unbelievable when she took about 7 weeks to reply to a yes or no question asking if I had to sign a form and physically return it or email response was sufficient!

In short unless you want an absolute nightmare constnsly chasing up and where illegal and criminal behaviour is ignored then stay well clear of this company!!

Absolutely dreadful. They are slow to respond to emails (actually ignored the first one I sent) and don't get documents back to you on the they say they will. I went to have a Will drawn up and the person dealing with it was offhand and insensitive. The actual office is old fashioned and unwelcoming to say the least. I certainly would never use them again.

Our late relatives passed 2 1/2 yrs ago and this firm have still not concluded her affairs, despite referring the matter to their in house complaints, they still lack any urgency or responsibility. We have had to refer the matter to the ombudsmen but Rich & Carr still are dragging their heels and clearly do not care about people’s mental health, which they are damaging by their inept business morals. I wish we had never instructed them.

I had dealings with Rich and Carr in Oadby after the death of a relative, for whom they had prepared the will.

They needed prompting four (four) times before they finally responded to a call from my fellow executor. When I called them, they started discussing an out-of-date will and needed to be told to get the right one. When they said they were putting me through to a solicitor, she said she couldn’t talk to me and needed to leave. When she rang me back the next day and I said I had a number of questions, she said she didn’t have much time to talk to me.

After a death and at a stressful time, you expect a solicitor to be understanding and be prepared to help; but the overall impression is that they didn’t care, were amateurish, and had no customer focus whatsoever.

Despite all the difficulties, they did present me with the very simple decision of getting the original of the will, sacking them, and appointing a competent and customer-focused alternative so I didn’t have to deal with this bunch of amateurs any more.

I have nothing good to say about this firm - they are taking potential clients for granted and need to sharpen up.

I would 100% recommend Rich and Carr.
Rubina Begum, in particular, is an asset to Rich and Carr and went above and beyond to assist me through the sale of my business.

Rubina handled my affairs excellently with patience and professionalism, she guided us through each step and helped us to understand all of the jargon.

I’m ever so grateful to Rubina, she answered all my queries promptly and efficiently and helped me to fill out forms I didn’t understand. We asked lots of questions, and despite calling Rubina numerous times, she always remained polite, understanding, and happy to help.

I hope she gets the recognition she deserves from her superior. We will definitely be using your services again in the near future.
