The wills that my wife and I had prepared and deposited with a local solicitor ended up with the Right Legal Group after a series of company takeovers. We were extremely annoyed that this had taken place without our agreement or knowledge. Having traced the wills, we wished to amend some instructions that were attached to the wills. Initial response from the Right Legal Group was good and a representative from their local branch (Simpsons Solicitors of Hadleigh, Suffolk) visited us to discuss our needs. Thereafter, they concentrated on advising us to set up a Trust and A Lasting Power of Attorney at what we considered an exorbitant cost. Later, a senior person from Simpsons telephoned and offered a £500 reduction for this service. At this point we decided to withdraw our wills from the care of Right Group. Eventually our wills were returned upon payment of a fee of£19.20.

*Update 12/12/2025*
Over 8 weeks have passed since making the initial complaint and although disappointed I am not surprised to report that no response has been provided and the matter has now been referred to the Legal Ombudsman
I cannot recommend this firm. Their communication is confusing and inconsistent, requests for renunciation or disclosure of documents were ignored, and fees for administering a simple estate were excessive. Staff are clearly inexperienced, legal advice was contradictory, and the firm appeared more concerned with retaining fees than acting in the best interests of beneficiaries. The lack of professionalism and transparency caused significant distress during a difficult time.

I am currently dealing with two firms on probate matters. Right Probate for my late step father and Co-op legal for my mother. In my view my late step father’s estate is straightforward and my mother’s is more complicated. Right Probate have been awful. It’s over 3 years since my step father passed and it’s still not sorted. And I feel powerless as they are named as a ‘professional’ executor on his will. Co-op legal on the other hand are making excellent progress after only 2 months on job. In fairness to both firms I am posting this review twice. Once for Right Probate and the other for Coop.

Right Legal Group proudly promotes itself as a firm that “proactively looks after clients throughout their lifetime,” helping to protect not just financial assets but emotional ones too. They claim to guide people with clarity, sensitivity, and care especially during times of bereavement. But once you actually experience how this firm operates, it becomes painfully obvious that these promises are nothing more than empty words. Behind the glossy branding lies a complete shambles of poor communication, disorganisation, and utter disregard for the very values they claim to stand by.
They boast about providing clear, easy-to-understand advice with no hidden costs, yet communication is appalling. Emails go unanswered for weeks, calls are ignored, and clients are left in complete limbo with no explanation or update. The process drags on endlessly, filled with delays and confusion, leaving people even more stressed than when they started. For a company that claims to value empathy and understanding, there’s an astonishing lack of both in how they handle grieving families.
The firm’s so-called “tailored guidance” is laughable. Every interaction feels impersonal, rushed, and repetitive, as if clients are just numbers being pushed through a broken system. Mistakes happen constantly documents go missing, correspondence is ignored, and no one ever takes real accountability. They like to highlight their SRA regulation and “fully authorised” status, but that means very little when the firm’s internal systems are in complete disarray and clients are left chasing answers that never come.
The truth is that Right Legal Group sells you a dream at the start a polished image of professionalism, care, and reassurance but what you actually receive is stress, silence, and disappointment. Staff are clearly overworked to the point of exhaustion, which only makes things worse. The quality of service collapses under the weight of their unrealistic workload, and clients are left to deal with the fallout. The company’s supposed mission to “protect families” during emotional times couldn’t be further from reality; the experience with them is more likely to break your spirit than bring any peace of mind.
If you are even considering using Right Legal Group for probate or wills, don’t. There are far more competent, compassionate, and professional firms out there. This one thrives on marketing buzzwords and hollow promises while failing catastrophically to deliver on even the most basic standards of professionalism and care. Everything they claim to value clarity, empathy, respect disappears the moment you sign on. What they truly represent is chaos dressed up as compassion.

I as so many before me wish I could’ve given zero stars. Avoid this firm at all costs. They are inept, incompetent,I’ll trained and finally incapable. They have been acting on my parents estate for the last 10 months and it has been a constant round of ignored communication both email and phone calls. Our first case handler ( they aren’t solicitors) was promoted to being the manager of our second case handler. All the problems we experienced with the first were then magnified by having them in charge of the second. I cannot stress enough to avoid this firm. At what is an upsetting experience of losing both parents in 2 months. Was only a foreshadow of what we’ve experienced dealing with this firm. Lost documents, ignored communications, vague excuses and finally problems with there accounting software and accounts team. If for whatever reason you decide to ignore this review and use them could I recommend the following. Download the complaints form from the ombudsman, Paracetamol or your choice of headache relief, gaviscon or your choice of antacid and finally shaving your head as you’ll be tearing your hair out.Oh and this isn’t resolved yet we’re still ongoing.

Right Probate are the worst company I have ever had to deal with.
They are lovely and flowery on the phone but when it comes to getting anything done they are useless.
They have been dealing with my Auntie's estate since August 2023 and it is still not completed.
They have even had the cheek to have taken 100% of their fees for the work..
Do not use this company from the Derby branch

After Right Legal Group took over from a solicitors that retired and after chasing them for nearly 2 years, they have still not actioned and dealt with the work in hand. The actual work was done by the previous solicitors and all they had to do was re-witness and file with the courts but they have still not been able to achieve this. They fail to communicate or correspond on any level to advise on progress, in my case none. I would not recommend for anybody. Have logged with their complaints department.
If you notice every complaint listed about them their response is that they can’t identify that person as a client so can’t comment. What a cop out! They are useless

This is my worst experience that I ever had in UK with any kind of legal or solicitor work. It took me 11 months to register property on my name due to complete ignorance and poor legal knowledge of that gentleman Ash and the woman that works with him. If I didn't have help of manager from local estate agent to find freeholder of the building, property would be still unregistered on my name. He is rude, arogant, shouting on clients, never ever have read or replied on any emails from clients and I couldn't sleep having nightmare because of him. Do not in any circumstances ever consider to even call these people for legal advice let alone hire them for property conveyancing job. How this kind of people and law firm is allowed to work in UK is beyond me??

AVOID AVOID AVOID at all cost. First time as an executor of a friends will, & although the Will was very straightforward there were just 2 beneficiaries of the of the Will, it took over 3 years to complete!!! Incompetent & inefficient company. Communication is dreadful, I had trouble getting through by phone, a local office with manned times on the door was more often than not closed, regardless of what was advertised, they ignore emails, lose correspondence, & the rate of staff turnover is unbelievable. When I caught them out in an error they turned it round & try to blame me! I received a summons letter from the local council as right probate were not paying the council tax on the property, & were ignoring council tax correspondence too! I felt I had failed my friends wishes & her family as a straightforward Will took so long to sort to no fault of my own!, I chose another firm to help sort the probate & will, when executor for a family member all complete in 9 months, what a difference.

Not a good service at all. I had no option other than to use them as I needed the original will for probate, which they held (they had take on a previous solicitors business when it went bust!!). They were keen to try and sell me their services (not taken up). Staff were always polite, and always apologised, but the reality is that their systems seem not to be robust, inaccurate, they lost a document and did not action as they had said. Very stressful at an already stressful time!

Awful experience. It took this company seven weeks to simply send the original will. I would strongly recommend not using this firm.

Right Legal took over the local solicitors where my parents had made their Will, so when my father passed away in May 2024 and I checked the reviews after seeing this was the company who would deal with things, I pretty much braced myself for upcoming aggravation. Instead, the non-standard specifics of the Will & associated Probate procedure were dealt with by an absolute gem of a Probate Advisor from the Derby office, specifically Madelaine M.
I can't do Madelaine the justice she deserves with my writing skills, but I'll try anyway.
She was professional throughout the fairly lengthy process (due to it being non-standard, as mentioned), which I suppose you'd expect anyway, but Madelaine went the extra mile on many occasions. We needed home visits for my elderly, disabled, and deaf since birth mother, but nothing was too much trouble for Madelaine. So friendly, warm, understanding, on the ball, a natural knack for dumbing things down for us non-legal types, always quick to reply to any communication/correspondence, and we feel lucky Madelaine was assigned to our case.
I can't speak to the company as a whole, and the other reviews here paint their own obvious picture, but I can tell you that if, like me, you're here seeing how the company is after finding out who will be dealing with your Probate matter, if you get assigned Madelaine M then your day just got a lot better. An absolute credit to the company and profession, and I hope the bosses at Right Legal appreciate just how much of a gem Madelaine is, and I cannot stress that enough.
It's rare for me to write such a glowing review, but it's for good reason. Thankyou Madelaine, and bosses, take note: If all your employees took a leaf out of her book, your reviews would quickly become overwhelmingly positive.

My meeting with Afreen Rehman was conducted by a very knowledgeable and confident young lady. Afreen was always making sure I understood the information she was giving me and the reason why that information was required. I will have no problem in communicating with Afreen and the team at Right Legal in the foreseeable future

Appalling service, non existent communication. A probate application approaching 1 year now. The first was apparently not received by the probate offices, the second is delayed as not all the required documentation was not submitted initially .
It can only implore do not use this company . Emails go unanswered , I called yesterday , it rang out for 42 minutes.
Sadly I could only submit a review with 1 star , it deserves none.

I wish to give top marks to Afreen Rehman and fellow team members at Right Probate.
She has worked tirelessly and helped me understand the processes involved as sole executor of my late brother's estate. Although we haven't quite reached the end yet I wish to say
thank you Afreen for your efforts and would give you my highest recommendation.

Extreme Caution Recommended ….
If your attempting to retrieve your documents (in our case - LPAs), make sure Right Legal (ex Simpsons) don’t try and bill you for £144, even though you have previously agreed business terms for FREE document storage and retrieval
Don’t hesitate in challenging the charge and request opening of a formal complaint
Although the matter was resolved with an accepted zero charge, would recommend retaining copies of ALL communications with them and jump through the complaint process hoops, especially if you end up going to the Ombudsman
Would not recommend using Right Legal in terms of our post Sales experience
Sad, as the Simpsons LPA creation experience was 1st class during Covid

Had the unfortunate experience of dealing with RLG with my late father’s estate. He’d made his Will and for whatever reason known only to him, appointed RLG as Executors alongside family members. At the initial meeting we were told by an incredibly inexperienced probate advisor that they would be ‘taking over the administration’ of his estate. A simple application for probate was all that was required at an overinflated cost. It took them over three months to get the process underway, and only did so when we raised a complaint. Correspondence was patchy often with information incomplete or missing. Despite telling them they needed to communicate with all executors, they often only communicated with one, making the assumption the messaging would be passed on. When the grant of probate eventually came through the executors were sent a letter with the grant saying the will and birth certificate was enclosed and neither were. On raising the error with them there was no acknowledgment or responsibility taken to sort it out.
Unprofessional, arrogant, sloppy, lack of attention to detail, careless, perfunctory are just a few words that spring to mind.

After failing to return calls, I was promised a visit to create a new will.
Foolishly I agreed, had a sit-down with Saif who took details, confirmed prices and the level if service plus time frame.
He followed up with a link to pay almost £1700 for wills and trust services.
For over two months he has not replied to emails on progress.
Rang to complain, reception offered to put me through to Saif!
Asked to speak to complaints who were not available...
Then I was told my will etc was going over the directors desk for sign off. (Funny how the this worked out when I asked for my money back).
Asked to speak to a managing partner and pointed out I would take this to the Law Society.
I also asked what qualifications the will writers hold and they do training internally... Draw your own conclusions from that, but mine is that the company is sales driven and staff get bonus or commission on "sales".
I'm currently insisting on a refund and will approach the Law Society if necessary.
The reviews speak volumes and to be honest, I wish I'd checked before agreeing to update my will. How can I trust a firm to manage my affairs in death, when they cant manage to respond to an Email?
They promised the moon on a stick but delivered a burst balloon on a straw.
