0 stars are too much for these crooks……Botched my van, took triple the time to complete the job, and handed van back to me a death trap. Full of promises none of them delivered….kind of people that will look you in the eye and lie, just interested in the money, how many people have they conned for the deposit on here, and guess what? Liquidated but not really as they have started up other companies….do your own research quite easy to track them down….and doing the same thing, based in Alcester now. Would not trust them with conversion….Do not hire or convert your van or buy one of their conversions. Also in Property Beware !!!!

We hired a VW camper van from the Broxburn branch a few weeks ago for 4 nights. We booked the day we wanted to leave and the staff were fab at sorting our booking at such short notice 🙈 We loved it a
and were already planning our next trip while we were still on the road 😂

We had no issues whatsoever! We contacted the WhatsApp emergency line to clarify when we would need to return the van, as guidelines were changing again due to covid but we received a quick, helpful response.

We were able to take our dog Alfie, who also loved every minute! Would definitely recommend and we can’t wait to book again next year!

Rented a VW transporter in October 2020 for 6 days! Booking was easy and the van was ready for us early to pick on the first day which was perfect. The van was easy to drive and had everything we needed in it with plenty of storage space. We did not have a cover for the front window which was a slight issues but because it was winter it was dark enough, however, on returning the van the staff could not have been more apologetic for this.
Overall a great experience and would rent from them again!

We rented a VW Caddy for 7 days with Rockin Vans in Edinburgh in January 2020, with the intention of going off-grid in the Scottish Highlands.
The vehicle was dirty when we picked it up, and the gentleman who handed the van over to us told us it hadn’t been washed because the cleaning company was closed. The man who gave us the van had no knowledge of the van and how the appliances worked. When he checking the vehicle over for damage, we had to point out major damage under the layers of dirt that he had missed off the paperwork.
We were not provided with half of the kitchen pack, fire extinguisher or carbon monoxide detector despite it stating in the rental agreement that we would be given these things. Everything that was provided was dirty and unwashed. The lack of fire extinguisher and CO detector was especially concerning in a vehicle that had a gas stove and heater. We also noticed that the lights in the van were dim and flickered constantly. We called to complain about the lights flickering and for help locating the fire extinguisher and carbon monoxide detector. We were told to wait for a call back and so we stayed in a location where there was signal, changing our plans for the trip, but never received a call back. We even texted the emergency helpline but only started receiving replies on our second to last day.
We called the office again a few days into our trip to give a list of complaints and safety concerns regarding the lack of fire extinguisher and carbon monoxide detector (we were told ‘well the vans have never caught fire before so don’t worry’). We were advised in this phone call that the operator would pass this information onto the aftercare team who would likely sort out a partial refund for us.
A plastic strip fell off the underneath of the van during our holiday and we were advised to tie it back on with cable ties. We spent time locating cable ties (in the remote Highlands) and crawling under the van to fit them.
We were left with no heating when it broke and very dim flickering lights for the duration of the trip. When we eventually got a response on the emergency helpline, they advised us repeatedly to charge the vehicle, so we paid for campsites almost every night despite us hiring the vehicle so that we could camp in remote areas. They didn’t seem to believe us when we said something was wrong with the van and no amount of charging would fix the lighting issue as they still flickered when the vehicle was plugged in. On the final night of our trip it was so cold and dark that we had to go home to Edinburgh.
When it came to dropping the van off on our final day, we paid to have it washed (as required in the rental agreement) and were at the depot early to avoid any late fines. When we saw nobody was in the office at our drop off time, we called the helpline to ask why the office was locked. We were put on hold for 10 minutes before we put the phone down out of frustration. Someone from the cleaning service finally turned up very late. When we told the woman from the cleaning service that we were unhappy, we were told to leave our number for the manager to call us back. Again, we received no call back from anyone.
We subsequently emailed Rockin Vans with our complaints and asking when we would receive our partial refund as promised, but had no response from them.
We called a few days later to confirm that they had received our email, but nobody was in the office so it went through to the servicing department and they said someone would call us back that day. They did not. We called again multiple times but nobody seemed to know anything.
Eventually we were offered 5 free nights in a vehicle of our choosing with Rockin Vans but we stated respectfully in our reply that although we appreciated the offer, we would not feel safe in one of their vehicles or trust them to do anything, especially after the lack of fire safety equipment in their vehicle and nonchalance in the matter. Instead, we asked yet again for a partial refund. We never heard back from them after that, and after us resending the email and trying to contact them, we came to the conclusion that they had no intention of resolving the issue and were simply hoping that we would give up and disappear.
Luckily, after 9 months, we have received a 75% refund under Section 75 from the bank, as we luckily paid for the van using our credit card. The bank took a long time to be able to help us, because Rockin Vans had written on their documentation that we had paid using Paypal, when this was not the case and the bank were able to confirm this.
Do not trust this company. We understand that mistakes can happen, but they handled this situation awfully and with no respect. We were polite throughout the whole process, but we have been let feeling like this company is a scam and we are emotionally exhausted after fighting for our money back.

We had great service from rockin vans edinburgh for our family trip. Our rep was Agnes and she was so lovely and helpful especially with our 2 children. Despite being busy and handling a rude customer whilst we were there she carried out a full handover and explanation of the motorhome and check out on return was also very quick and easy. We would 100% use again and already planning our next trip! :)

As others have said the experience with Rockin Vans can be good for some, and bad for others, unfortunately in my case, it was a bad experience.

A list will suffice to describe the issues we had.

1. Dirty Van (inside and out, mars bar wrappers, STAINS! , debris of living )
2. Ripped Stained Seat
3. Poor breakdown support (left largely immobile for 2 days)
4. Faulty Van Charging System ( I had to disconnect wires (under the instruction of the company) to get the charging system to work).
5. Minor niggles USB Charger not working, intermittent fault with windscreen wipers, occasional fumes in the cabin, broken seatbelt shroud, light hanging by a wire from the ceiling.

The van had a feeling of being run down, with a host of minor and not so minor problems which led to an overall feeling of scruffiness and unreliability, not what I would expect from a hire costing over £800.

The company extended our hire to cover some of the time lost, but in honesty the general seedy feeling of the van made the entire experience not good value for money.

When I sent an email the owner replied (paraphrasing) to say that it was the end of the season so the vans were tired and it was too expensive to take them out of their busy schedule for maintenance.

I am glad that 50% or so of Rockin Vans customers are happy with their experience, I am part of the almost 40% that aren't so give 1*.

Dissapointed and will not be using again.

Hired Mini Camper for a week - Had a fabulous time, would recommend and hire again.

Email comms were great, had an issue with payment card on my side but my booking was took anyway - thank you Rockin Vans.

I'm pretty hands on, but the chap that sorted pick up was great and willing to let you know anything you need to.

Came to us clean. Check in process was very simple to understand. Informative video explaining how to use the motorhome. Callum showed us around the van and offered us towels and bedding for our stay. No issues with motorhome on our 4 night stay. Would highly recommend to friends and family!

My second hire in 3 months.....did the Scotland NC500 in July and the Scottish 7Stanes Mountain Bike centres in the first week of October.

My booking was seamless and the team as before responded to any questions within a fast timeframe.

We really enjoyed travelling the famous NC500 route with our brilliant yellow VW camper van and would definitely do so again, renting from Rockin Vans. The van was a great size for traversing the tight Scottish roads and was perfect for finding little spots where were could part up for some wild camping.

The Edinburgh team was very friendly and helpful when we picked up the van, answering all our questions and showing us how everything worked. However, because the camper van had been newly converted, we did have a couple of teething problems - there was a smell of paint, although it went away after a couple of days, and sticky drawers and bed mechanisms, that were sometimes a little difficult. We also had no cupboard doors - not dramatic, but it meant things were difficult to store while driving.

Sadly, we also had a dent in the van when we took it back, but the team was really great about it and luckily we had taken out extra insurance, so it didn't taint our experience.

All in all it was a great experience and we'd gladly do it again! Hopefully, we will some time soon!

Collected van from Edinburgh depot. Lovely check in staff and the van was a cracker. Immaculate and really cool. Had a great 4 day rd trip. Only criticism is that web site informs there is parking for your car but there wasn’t. Areas around to leave it but still not ideal.

I can't recommend Rockin Vans highly enough. We have been renting campervans and mid-sized motorhomes from them for the last 5 years. For us the vans gave us the freedom and flexibility to achieve our goal of completing all the Munros in Scotland, which we achieved this year. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful to us. They are more like a family and friends with the service they give. We will be back for our next goal the Corbetts, lol! Rockin Vans keep Rockin!

Rockin vans Edinburgh were great with us. The midsize van was ready for us to collect and extremely comfortable. We had ordered bedding and towels which were not packed and forgotten but the company acknowledged and are arranging a refund.

We booked our mid sized campervan to travel the North Coast 500 through Rockin Vans.
We travelled with four adults and the van had ample space for us and our luggage. The van was very modern and spotlessly clean.
Callum was very helpful at check in and showed us all the workings of the van we also received a tutorial video via email before pick up of the van.
The van met all our expectations and on return Agnes made the handover very quick and easy.
Highly recommend Rockin Vans.

We have a great trip thanks to Rockin vans and their amazing vehicles. The mini camper was the perfect size to not be too stressed about smashing someone else's mirror on the tiny roads of Scotland. The bed is on the smaller size but we only had 4 nights so it was doable. We did have some issues with the lights and the hob but the team was quick to answer via WhatsApp. The only reason took away a star was the booking change which was a bit rocky due to the fact that all communication was via email (thanks to Covid). A phone number would definitely have made the booking change a bit smoother. My review is really more of a 4.5/5!

Just handed our van back after a brilliant week away. The VW camper we hired was absolutely spot on and we had no problems, great communication leading up to our hire date and also went through everything on the day of pickup that we needed to know about the van. Ildefinitley be using these guys again!!

Rockin Vans are a lovely company to hire from. I have hired their vehicles 3 times now, and each time they have been helpful and professional.

Reading through the reviews on here, I'm not sure that others realise they are hiring a vehicle! These vehicles have certain safety measures that, if not used properly, will make the appliance not work properly! You need common sense really to hire one of these. If you don't have it, go to a hotel!!!

Anyway, great company, great vans. Will be hiring again if they ever have any availability!

My wife and I hired a mini camper from Rockin Vans for a break at the start of September 2020.
I found the reviews on TrustPilot after I’d made the booking and was initially a bit concerned. I’m pleased to say we had nothing to worry about!

Booking the van was easy and email communication between Rockin Vans and us beforehand to check a couple of things was really quick. The Express Check-in process was really good and meant we just had to turn up at the depot, complete some final checks and load our stuff. The van itself was treated to make sure it was ‘COVID-safe’ before we picked it up and was a great little home for a few days.

We did have a slight problem and were somewhere with no phone signal but again the team did all they could to help us out via email.

We really enjoyed the experience & our trip and I’d recommend Rockin Vans to others if they were thinking about hiring a camper.
