Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 31 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it horrendous, difficult to reach, and staffed by agents who were perceived as rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful, often providing inconsistent information. Customers also encountered significant issues with payments, including lengthy processing times for electronic payments, unexpected blocks on transactions without explanation, and problems with overpayments not being resolved. Reviewers also reported frustrations with the card's value, particularly regarding foreign transaction fees that negated rewards, and concerns regarding payment allocation on balance transfers. Some people also felt that the process for identity verification was cumbersome and that the bank's security measures, such as locking cards during travel, were poorly handled.

I don't recommend this bank to anyone

I don't recommend this bank to anyone. There are scammers who constantly ask for the cv code of your card every time you call. The day disappears from the card. Payments are processed for a very long time. Rogers community credits money to the account the next day. Rogers bank first uses your money, and then credits it to the account. And now the most interesting thing is that if you submit for reissue of the card in connection with the loss, they are again sent a card with the same number, expiration date and cv code. If you decide to call and talk to an agent, the agent starts asking questions and wondering where you spend the money. That is, Rogers bank refuses to reissue a card with a different cv code, as this way they will not be able to steal money from your card. Rogers bank does not have personal data protection. At the moment, a complaint has been sent to the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments, as well as the Fanancial Consumer Agency of Canada.

Take your credit needs elsewhere

Card has little value for consumers enlisting services from this trash company. One might be under the impression Roger’s would value their clients who use them for all their telecom needs and have the credit card- that would be false. Avoid the company and card at all costs. The headache of dealing with barely available outsourced customer service is not worth your time. The hefty wait for service, the incompetence, the barely competitive plans for cable/internet /cell service are indicative of what this card offers.

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service; on vacation and my card got locked out and they would not provide emergency travel assistance. filed complaint and they opened ticket...then closed with a complaint survey with no action.
Called back to escalate and they put me on hold...and then dumped me to a call center survey.

Archaic processes

Rogers can take up to 6 days to process an electronic payment. Meanwhile you receive email notices from them warning of being at risk of exceeding your limit and at risk of penalty charges. The money has been sitting in their account for 6 days!!!!! Anytime I use their card my charges are posted within minutes, yet it takes them 6 days to process an electronic payment. That is the kind of service you would expect back in the 1980s, before instant processing of electronic transactions.

Who thought up this rogers bank approval process

Whoever thought up the process for getting this card approval, should be taken out & hurt. I went to a rogers store to verify my application. Then I had to go to rogers again to verify my identity. Then I received the card, & asked me to verify myself, once more.
Then I called rogers supplied number & after 20 minutes of me not understanding the supposed customer service agent he finally gave me a number to call to activate the card. I called the number & it wasn't reachable. That's it. I am going to bell. After almost 30 years, I'm switching to an alternative, & quite p&&&ed off. This no way to treat a loyal customer. You should be ashamed. Find another sucker.

Overpayment refund or paying the balance with it

I don't know where to begin. Rogers Bank is the most boneheaded bank I've ever dealt with. I don't know if there is a language barrier as ALL employees seem to be of a certain ethnic group or what??? They seem to all be outsourced oversees even though they say they're in Ontario. I'm happy with Rogers Wireless, but their bank is something else!!! I have made some large purchases recently and, in anticipation of other large purchases, I made pre-payments to my Rogers Mastercard. Any bank out there would've recorded the payment as a credit and as I made the purchases, they would've chipped away at the credit balance, using it. NOT Rogers Bank. Besides NOT doing so, to get my money back, they want a statement from my chequing account, which I won't have for a while, proving where I made the payment from so they can return the $16000. I cannot do so until the statement is issued which might take a while. Until then, not only my money is stuck, but I cannot make the large purchases with this card which has a decent cash back rebate which I wanted to take advantage of. Please tell me what they're doing isn't legal. No other credit card/bank I've dealt with has ever done this!!!

Shameful Customer Service practices

I have been trying to resolve an overpayment problem since the end of February and regardless of how many times I have been assured the issue is being dealt with I have yet to see any results. NEVER deal with Rogers Bank!

NEVER APPLY

NEVER APPLY! Waste of your time!
I kept receiving an email of pre approved mastercard. When I cancelled internet via phone, they persuaded again to apply for this mastercard. OK..although I was not really interested in another credit card, I applied through the email link, filled in the form, uploaded driver's license. They checked my credit background. My credit score was perfect. 870/900. Annual salary good enough for any credit card...Then, they rejected my application! I called to ask for the reason...No reason!!! Waste of time to play this ridiculous game! Fraud?

Rogers Bank website

I've been banking online for many years with several credit cards-I find the Roger's website by far the most confusing and, as a Rogers/Shaw customer, the way I must redeem my 150% credits most aggravating!

CUSTOMER'S DON'T MATTER

Wow, please make no mistake, the only reason you got 1 star is that I had to pick one. My actual rating is in the negative.
I have witnessed my poor sister trying to deal with Roger's credit card.
She received her brand new card (new account), maybe 3 months ago. Riger's security reaches out to her to let her know that they had locked her card as a security measure as someone had been trying to use her card. Sounds good right, looking after her safety. If only that were true.
First off, it was herself that had used the card. No buggy, all good, card unlocked. (AND THIS IS WHERE THE SH_T SHOW BEGINS)
3 weeks now, shebhas been trying to get her card unlocked and absolutely, no one in this company, including head security can get there heads out of their asses and figure out how to do this. It has been one constant run around, to the point that today I finally also got involved. I am 58 years old and have never seen horrible customer service as what Rogers has provided. To be honest, 0 customer service is what is available. Thankfully, I have never used Roger's and after what my sister has been through, I never will. I will never recommend it as well as I will make sure everyone knows why not. Due to your lack or care of customer service, my sister is now canceling her credit card as well as her cable service. You did not care if you lost her as a customer, or that you ensured that I, nor anyone else I know will ever be one either.
I am know rocket scientist, but based on alot of the comments, customer service just is not a strong point for your company, so, I am baffled at what is.
Piss poor business ethics Roger's!!!

So Sad

It is so sad what could be a great credit card is destroyed by bad policy and terrible customer service. The card provides an excellent cashback progeram but that is where it ends.
Just hope you never need assistance from customer service.
If you have a fraudulent charge they leave you in the lurch.
Never make an advance payment with the hope you can use it on subsequent charges. They retain the advance and only apply it at the time of your next invoice. This means your credit limit stays the same in spite of the overpayment.
It is amazing how little they care about their customers.

Rogers Bank is absolute garbage

Rogers Bank is absolute garbage

First they solicited me for the rogers mastercaard. Supposedly pre-approved but then have to go through an approval process. big LOL.

Then finally get the card, use it once, then try again and its blocked. After 50 mins on hold, get a hold of someone and I have to go verify my identity at a rogers store. Uhmmm you already verified me and sent me the card and im a rogers customer for many years os they already have my info, and used a 2FA code on my pgone but still had to bring my documents....

Go to the store and it took 50 mins on hold for this process.....

Next, the rewards rate is calculating wrong

No customer service so send a secure message in the app.

Still going back and forth with their support who does not even take the time to understand the issue and answers with canned responses

dont waste your time the cashback aint woprth it

New Card used

New Card used, paid off next time I go to use frozen. Security department cannot tell me anything told to wait. Reached out several times and gave up. Finally someone called. If I want to use the card I must take ID to a Rogers store. None of it makes sense. Told them to cancel the account. Don’t need this crap

Can’t even do a money transfer !…

I called 5 days ago to transfer money from Rogers Bank to my RBC account and it still not done. How can you trust a bank that can’t even transfer money in 5 days. Deal with a real bank who can transfer money within hours.

I tried to contact Rogers Bank fraud department 11 times now. There is nobody there who could make a decision. Nobody has the authority to unblock my card. I am presently travelling outside the country and my card is useless.

No help for fraudulent activity

In cases of fraud, you’re on your own.
Someone was able to convince Rogers to change my address. They then ordered a new credit card. Luckily Rogers contacted me and were able to stop this before anything happened. This happened while I was traveling. I informed them that I needed a replacement card quickly, and now, three months later I still sit waiting. They’ve been absolutely useless.
I asked them how somebody could change my address, because I was worried about someone impersonating me to be able to commit other fraudulent acts with my other credit accounts. No answer.
I suggest filing a complaint with the Canadian Banking regulator, the Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments. Rogers Bank has an obligation to provide service. You have the right to receive service. Exercise your right to file a complaint. And if you’re only thinking about the Rogers Bank Credit Card, go elsewhere. There are many better options.

Rogers Bank card - unprotected by Customer service

I started to use a new Rogers card with appalling results and the customer service is anything but effective or practical. What good is customer service if the Company's policies are flawed or deficient?. I called in to report fraudulent transactions on my card and the fraud department informed me that I had to wait 1 month before the company could take action. In fact, when I called in to dispute/cancel the transaction immediately the first time, (July 13th 2024) and informed the rep that it was a fraud site, he failed to cancel my card resulting in future transactions. Only when I called a second time (Jul 19th 2024) to report additional transactions that the rep cancelled the card with an apology.

Why do I have to wait for 30 days?. Such a policy tells me that the company is actually promoting fraud. When a customer reports fraud, how and why is the company not blacklisted?. I attempted to cancel the transaction by customer support as soon as I realized the fraud but they not only did not do it, they had other excuses and reasons. Obviously, I am not the first customer being defrauded by the company/vendor that executes a fraudulent transaction on my credit card. Essentially, customer service is not effective. Fraud is being promoted by the credit card company itself.

Note: On further research, this company bookyourroadtest.com is a fraud from the UK, and was reported on Reddit 2 years ago. An still, Banks and other CC companies like Rogersbank.com are still accepting transactions from them?. So essentially, all are promoting the same type of fraud instead of protecting the customers and their private information.

Bunch of clown

I had a credit card with them for maybe 10 years. Always paid my bill and never contested any charge. End of April 2024 There was 3 transaction within a few minutes on my card that i did not made. Reported them and now over 2 months later they say that i made those transaction and they refuse to protect me. Further more, i asked to be transferred to someone who could help me close my account, i was angry but always polite and calm, still they just cut the line on me. Very classy.
