A Legacy Larger Than Its Final Chapter

Roma Numismatics was one of the most influential ancient coin auction houses of its generation.

Mistakes were made, and those mistakes had consequences. However, as someone who knew the company closely, I also believe history should remember its achievements, innovation, and contribution to the hobby.

Personally, I have often felt that the treatment of Roma reflected a degree of double standards within a market where similar questions have not always been asked equally of all participants.

Whatever one’s view, Roma left a lasting mark on numismatics and played a significant role in shaping the modern ancient coin market.
