Misleading funnel to upfront fees

Found a solid place, messaged the landlord. Roomster.com said I need to create an account with my email + give them my phone number in order to exchange messages. I'm reluctant to give that to anyone. Sent my message got a notification that I received a reply, clicked on it. Roomster says I need to pay them between $11.99 & $49.99 to see the message. They've sent me 20 emails since yesterday. Wouldn't have gave them my info if they didn't imply it would unlock the ability to exchange messages.

I'm trying to list my entire house for rent. I input my name and e-mail and city. I paid for 30 day account.

I see nothing else from your end, despite my credit card was charged. Where am I to describe my house and upload photographs? I do not see there is actually a site on which to advertise my home. Is this for real?

Please advise.

Feels like a bait and switch

Feels like a bait and switch. I posted my listing, but then can't access any of the messages that are sent to me without paying to see them — and that had never been disclosed.
