No printable materials

I did purchase the homeschool version of Rossetta Stone American English full set. The product information did include printable workbooks with activities designed for kids.
These printables did work with older version of Rossetta. Now they are no longer related to the current set of resources.
In the printables you find units, lessons and worksheet # but in the current Rossetta you find weeks and days.
My question was how to correlate unit, lesson and worksheet # to days and weeks. The answer was that the printables are no longer supported. I was dissapointed since this was the reason why I choose the product.

Rosetta Stone is pretty good, but...

I really like Rosetta Stone, but there is one problem. They give full sentences instead of telling you what it means first. That is, you have to guess what it means instead of practicing. Maybe to make it better you can give the definition of the word in the speaker's language, then they can practice it and know what the whole sentence means.

Okay, but misses the mark.

For one thing, there is no difference between the supposed school edition and the regular version that I demo-ed on the free trial. I think the inferences required to get the missing pieces of the lesson are just beyond the reach of my 11 y.o. and I often have to fill in the blanks. Supporting materials are a bit sparse, and I've made flash cards to help, as a single exposure to a word isn't enough to remember it (the expectation with the R.S. program). Pronunciation and audio aspects seem quite good, although the speaking back function misses errors frequently and regularly can't recognize correct responses (or even any responses) for certain sounds. I think the program has good bones, but needs refinement and better adaptation for learners at different levels/aptitudes.

Thank you for providing the feedback. The Homeschool and Student version of our programs do not allow users to use our online content such as Rosetta Stone Live. We teach by a pedagogical approach known as Dynamic Immersion. Here is an article from our knowledge base that may help explain it for you: http://bit.ly/DynamicImmersion. If you're having trouble remembering where a certain word or phrase is located, then consulting the Course Contents on our support page can help.

The program is easy for my daughter to use. There’s an issue where is says my screen size isn’t large enough and sometimes my daughter has to shout. Those are my only reasons for four stars. She loves the program and is definitely learning already!

Customer Services Refused to Help

I was screwed over and after speaking with multiple 'representatives' I was basically told I'm stuck with what I have. Horrible customer service. I have THREE kids that need to use rosetta stone. But only ONE profile can be created. I paid the lifetime fee, and no one can seem to help me get the right package, the family one, so that I can have multiple users. Products need to be clearly advertised to show only ONE user per account. I made my issue clear in less than 24 hours of my purchase when I realized it was for only one user. No one cared to help.

Thank you for reaching out and we apologize for the inconvenience. All of our online subscriptions are designed for one user per subscription. Any additional user would need their own subscription to access the program. Unfortunately, we no longer offer family packs for our Homeschool subscriptions. One of our support agents will reach out to you in regards to your account.

The audio doesn’t always work well

The audio doesn’t always work well; it picks up part of what I say snd sometimes nothing at all. I know, from having taken French previously, that I have good pronunciation.

I wish there would be writing exercises. Perhaps there are later on; I deliberately chose a lower level so that I could review my vocabulary but found that I needed to switch to the intermediate level, which is still pretty basic.

Finally, no one says nous Somme’s Lundi, or samedi, or any day of the week. That phrasing is outdated; you should consider updating your program to reflect this.

Thank you for providing the feedback. We're currently working on improvements to the issues to the speech engine. We're gathering as much detail as we can to find solutions to these issues. An uninstall & reinstall may help temporarily. We apologize that this has affected your learning, and we're working actively to fix this. In order to complete the writing lessons, you must access the program from a computer and signing into your account through our web page. Once signed in, if you select the "Learn" tab on the menu bar and select any Unit, you can find writing lessons within each lesson.

Second Language during COVID

We are still in the first week of Rosetta Stone but so far so good. We paid for the three month package to help our high school son. Most collages require two years of a second language. Learning a second language is challenging enough but this year with remote learning due to COVID it adds additional stress. We are thankful that this is available to us.
