Poorly made toys

Purchased the 'Tough Safari Giraffe' from our local pet shop. The material felt the same at other Kong type toys we have purchased in the past but it came apart after less than five minutes play. All the stitching and seams literally came away after a bit of pulling. Our dog is less than ten kilos so he isn't a big dog. The toy cost us £9.00. What a waste of money.

Watch out for corn kernels in Rosewood…

Watch out for corn kernels in Rosewood Naturals Nature's Salad. My Guinea Pig loves this product but there are hard corn kernels that became attached to his teeth. I'm glad that I saw what was happening and pulled the kernel off his teeth. This took some pressure to dislodge the kernel. I'm so glad that he didn't choke. I want the company to take these kernels out of their product.

Dangerous sachets included with pet treats

I think the idea of Pill Treats is a great idea. However, upon opening these, it became clear that each individual unit is not individually wrapped and there was a sachet of deoxidizer (similar to the sachets found in shoe boxes) within the box. The sachet itself has "Do not Eat" marked on it but it gets hidden within the box.

My intial concern was a) what happened if the sachet split and how toxic the contents of the sachet could be, b) could each unit become contaminated by the ingredients of the sachet (even if the sachet did not split).

The company have provided a wooly response, on one hand they claim that the sachet is safe (even if it did split) but ultimately it is not intended for consumption by animals, but, on the other they also state that they will be updating the packaging on the next print run to warn of the inclusion of the sachet.

In comparing this product to that of major pet food companies, other pet food companies would usually put individual units within sealed foil and there would be no deoxidizer sachet.

The inclusion of this sachet within the product suggests to me that there is not enough care taken in ensuring optimal conditions for composite ingredients and the storage of the finished product and that corners are being cut through the use of the sachets within the storage and distribution process at a risk to dogs.

In my experience, companies do not update packaging to include warnings that undermine the wider marketing unless they have to and that there is a genuine risk.

I have lost all confidence in this company that also appear to supply a significant number of products to Wilkinson's stores, for a range of different animals, across our high streets in the UK.
