A truly awful, awful experience with Royal Design. We purchased a table in November. It arrived damaged in December. We reported the damage upon receipt. Royal Design were unable to offer a replacement table, so we asked for a refund. We have still not been refunded, despite repeated chasing. Their customer service and refund teams are very hard to get hold of and unbelievably slow to return our money. Last week, they told me it could still be two weeks or more due to a backlog they are working through - having previously told me it would have been paid by now. I cannot recall a worse customer experience than this. Looking at others’ messages with similar experiences on Trustpilot, one wonders if they are in financial difficulty and simply do not have the cash to pay customers what they are owed?
Like others, having exhausted all efforts to secure a refund with Royal Design, I will be contacting my credit card provider next week to see what they can do and lodging a complaint with Trading Standards.

Paid for a book shelf but did not get all parts to install it and no instructions on how to do it. Despite a dialogue during 6 weeks we were not able to get any support. Extremely slow service and also no real understanding of the problem. Due to all of this we finally had to send it back. Now waiting for refund.

About 1,5years ago we bought a toilet brush, a bathroom thrash bin and one window wiper for the bathroom from Zone Denmark (UME).
All very expensive items.
The trash bin and toilet brush are coated with something that turns it to glue, you can’t wipe it off. In a bathroom it’s quite disgusting. Furthermore the bin can’t be used with a plastic bag cause it won’t shut properly. The replacement heads for the toilet brush are extortionately expensive.
As for the window wiper, it’s held on with a magnet and one can assume that from time to time it’s knocked off and hits the floor. Well this thing can’t take a hit cause after the first drop the metal rod inside the rubber snapped.
All in all VERY low quality products. You are paying for a brand, nothing else.
We’ve been forced to throw it all away and buy new, better quality items after 1,5years. That is unacceptable.

I bought a lamp from this store, and it arrived defective. It simply didn’t work. I immediately contacted customer service and provided all the pictures and videos they asked for. Since then, I have been waiting for weeks without any clear update or solution.
It’s extremely frustrating that the store takes so long to handle such a simple issue. I feel ignored and disappointed. I would not recommend buying here unless they seriously improve their customer service and take responsibility for their products.

They have terrible service. They don’t send confirmation emails, packages get lost, and they don’t provide any information at all. A complete disaster

**BEWARE**
Avoid this company at all costs. I wish I would have read the reviews online before purchasing from them. I ordered three pots, and two of the three arrived completely shattered. I spent $300. I immediately contacted them over a week ago and have yet to hear back. After reading reviews on Facebook, I realize that everyone is having the same issues and that royal design customer service is nonexistent. I have reached out several times through email and on their website using their chat feature and they just tell me the same thing, that they are experiencing a high volume a customer concerns and that they will get back in touch with me. After reading other people’s reviews, I’ve realized they will not be refunding me, sending me a replacement or even getting back in touch with me. save your money and purchase elsewhere

Terrible customer experience. Their e-commerce platform is unable to process many credit card transactions because they don't offer a separate "billing address" section. The alternative is to use PayPal, and the API rarely launches correctly. I finally got a transaction to process, only to have Royal Design later cancel the order without any email explanation. Getting customer service on the phone is impossible. They don't respond to emails. I would highly suggest taking your business elsewhere.

Buyers should be aware they charge 200 sek for return delivery if you cannot pick up your parcel. I was in hospital and missed the package & had to pay 235sek for the package being sent back. I will choose another interior design company next time.

I ordered a Woody Basket 10 MONTHS AGO and I just received it ! It is quite disappointing that a 2 pieces accessory ( a piece of curved galvanized metal and a simple bamboo arch that is attached to it with 4 screws ) took 10 months to arrive. Extremely poor lead time . A serious improvement is needed there.

Received my order 23rd December, gave it as a Christmas gift 24th December, noticed that the goods was damaged/had fails (Kai Bojesen abe). Raised a claim via email 25th December. Got the answer a month (!) after (January). Was asking for return. Return was not possible. Agreed to partial compensation. Agreed. Promised to be refunded on January 22nd with a 3-5 business days transfer. Today is February 7th. No money received.
User support is just absent, sent like 5 mails (don’t bother to answer this comment please).

Ordered some ceiling lamps on Dec 1. Order was sent on Dec 4 with planned delivery on Dec 6, which I haven't received yet (Dec 12 at point of writing).
Dropped a question on Dec 9 and no one came back to me yet.
Contacted delivering company and they suggest that "shipment was sent on the wrong pallet from senders warehouse and ended up in Norway. Customs clearance is required which is managed by sender."
But as mentioned no transparent comms or replies from Royal Design.
UPD 18-Dec-2024: after review I got an email from RoyalDesign saying they're sorry and will provide more info. That was on Dec 13. Three days later, no email so I've asked for update. No response again. Today (Dec 18) I've asked to cancel my order for a refund.
UPD 08-Jan-2025: they’ve agreed to refund, but as of today they’ve only refunded 3443 SEK of 8843 I paid. Worst experience I’ve had buying stuff in years.

I ordered a rug from Royal Design 1 month ago. At the time I made the purchase, their shipping evaluation at the time was 2 weeks. Now, 4 weeks has passed and I haven’t received a single update on my order until I got in touch, which I was then told will take another 2 weeks until the item is even in stock (5 weeks since original order date). Even if this happens it will be 6 weeks since making the order for a rug that I can see is already back in stock with competitors such as Svenssons. I asked why this is when I was told the new “estimated” arrival in-stock date, and have had no reply a week later. This is not the first time Royal Design lied about the delivery times but it will be the last I deal with. I hope I will receive my rug but who knows at this stage. Save your money and go somewhere else who values their customers.

Beware of the VERY expensive returns policy and inability to cancel order before dispatch.
I purchased a low value item (feet for two bedside tables, costing £24) from RoyalDesign.co.uk in early July. There was a long lead in time (6-8 weeks) but I went ahead with the purchase as I couldn't find it elsewhere. As it turned out, the item I purchased came free of charge with the tables purchased on another website. I immediately looked to cancel the order with Royal Design, two weeks after ordering and many weeks before they were due for dispatch. Their website advised that I couldn’t cancel a processed order and should wait (another six weeks!) to receive an item I no longer wanted and then be put to the bother of returning it.
At that stage I had not found the buried information that Royal Design have a standard charge of £19 to return any item with a value less than £100, so I accepted this cumbersome method of cancelling the order. This piece of information re. returns is not readily apparent on their initial returns advice page - you have to log into their terms and conditions and scroll down to point 5.5 - it's there but could hardly be classed as easily accessible or transparent.
My item only cost £24. The original dispatch only cost £9.
I have priced postage and it comes to £3.25 as it is a very small, light item.
I addressed the following questions to Royal Design by email on 26/09/24 but have yet to receive a response:
How is it possible that:
A modern warehousing system cannot cancel an order that is not available to dispatch for six weeks?
If your system really functions that poorly, how can you justify a return charge more than double that of the delivery charge (£9) and multiples of actual postage costs (£3.25)?
Perhaps they will respond to this review and address both questions. In addition I would now like to ask them to make the information re cost of return more visible on their returns advice page so that potential customers are aware before purchasing from their website.
As an update:
Royal Design contacted me immediately following this review, after they had ignored my email for a week. They are reimbursing me the full cost of the item and shipping without looking for a return.
I appreciate the gesture.
While this solves the issue for me (although I would much rather not have spent this amount of time on a petty amount of money), it does nothing to address the issues identified in their returns procedure, cost and website information.
Their website FAQ still states that once an order has begun to be processed there is no way to cancel it.
I am left wondering if the wording in the FAQs is an intentional deterrent to cancellations and returns or a clumsy half-explanation of procedures. In either case, it’s not good customer service.
Secondly, what is the justification for a blanket £19 charge for returns of small items that cost £9 initial delivery and I have subsequently priced at £3.25 to send by post? Again, is this an intentional deterrent or a lazy way to recoup the costs of running an inefficient returns system?
In essence, the returns procedure seems set up to be so complicated and expensive that it acts as a deterrent to legitimate returns.

Ordered a €900 vase, that came cracked and defective. After numerous emails and calls, Royal Design have completely washed their hands of this. They won't accept a return or a refund. They refuse to speak any other language except German and haven't replied to any of my 8 emails. I have no idea what to do now, we have never experienced a company like this, I felt obliged to write this review so anyone thinking of buying something from this company is fore warned that you'll probably receive a broken or defective item and then be ignored without no phone or email or customer service. Avoid Royal Design at all costs.
